lol wow this was a sudden axe! Have to say, it's prob been my least favorite shoujo isekai I've read, but it felt like it was at least going somewhere? Global Manga+ is a chapter behind, so it looks like the next/last ch will be out Aug 12th. I'm guessing "rushed ending" over "time skip" or "the journey continues".

Kira Etō's World's End Harem ~Britannia Lumiére~ Manga Ends

Spinoff manga launched in June 2020, went on hiatus from December 2020 to June 2021 due to author's health
Whu were you expecting a spinoff to last long? even the previous spinoff ran for a short time.

Just continue the main series.

July 2021 Recommendation
Blue Flag (by Kaito)

1eXTTe0.jpg

LGBTQ+ Love Triangle | 8 volumes, complete work, licensed in English by Viz and available through the Shonen Jump subscription
The "youth pure love" story begins when three students in their third and final year of high school meet during a time when they are worried about paths for their futures. Waiting for them are sweet, painful, and heartrending days. (source)

From Bigkrev:
I'm legitimately pissed at myself that I waited so long to start this, as this is basically what I am looking for! … The main theme here is emotion and growing up—these kids are all about to graduate high school and go out into the real world, and Ichinose has a lot of issues with the nature of his relationship with Mita, who he can't understand why he still hangs around with him, and him developing feelings of his own for Kuze.(source)

From Dedication Through Light:
Lead up to the end was worth it (even if a bit over the top, manga loves having characters impulsively dash to wherever to solve whatever circumstance their in, cheesy but fun). Liked the series for having characters talk things out even if they meandered a bit in their conversations, lost their trains of thoughts or struggled to put their thoughts into words, and didn't mine taking positions and calling each other out. Also I liked the part of characters really struggling with what to do in their life and their future, felt a bit more authentic then a few other series. Still love the same sex relationships and crushes being identified so early in the series and not putting it off to the middle or something. Really made the journey feel solid from start to finish.(source, contains spoilers)

Binged A Silent Voice in its entirety this weekend. I thought it was much better than the film. It covered the same exact material but with full scenes and dialogue that went into much more depth as to how both of them were feeling. Sometimes less isn't necessarily better than more. Still a 9/10 film, one of my favorites, but if you love the movie please read the manga.

I stand by Blue Flag being good, even if I am dumb as hell and had to read the final chapter 3 times and have someone explain to me what happened before I understood it

Blue Flag is good until the story climax and then becomes the clumsiest shit ever as it tries to bring everything together.

Well considering the pacing of said spin off, yeah I expected to last longer then this. I could have accepted a planned short spin off manga if the story moved at a brisk pace.

I mean, it was pretty sloppy as it was with how the story and its pacing was, but as of last chapter, there was zero hint of going into a climax any time soon, with so much being unresolved.

I do think the idea between that and Soloist in a Cage sounds about right, with the hiatus and then given a bit of time to complete it, but this one regardless is just going to have one rushed ending! I wonder if it'll be the same for Heart Gear, although I think I recall that one actually being a little more popular?

Since I don't think people have mentioned it, that DC3 one-shot by the Promised Neverland people was pretty fun. Much more lighthearted and silly than I expected from this team. Would have liked for the lead girl to have done more action stuff past the very start, though.

I read the manga before watching the movie and I remember disliking it despite enjoying the manga. It's one of the reasons why I usually stick with the original medium and don't bother with adaptations

I really enjoyed the movie but I fucking loved the manga. The manga actually made me tick off a few points on the film. The motivations of the friends are much clearer, the reunion feels more earned and his opening up at the end feels more earned.

The filmmakers wanted to put more focus on his redemption but at the cost of character development, including and especially Shoko. Shoko's character, on the outside, is mostly unchanged but getting into her personal struggles more means she's less of someone to help "fix" Shoya, someone to white Knight, and more of the actual MC she is. The last shot of the film is that Shoya has learned to love himself and we get a brief shot of her smiling and happy for him. But the last two pages don't expressly say it, but is an almost 100% necessary thing to reveal. That he's willing to face their childhood class hand in hand. That her love for him isnt unrequited, that they're going into the future together.

Edit: I have read dozens and dozens of titles, from Shonen to romance, to comedy, fantasy and sci fi, horror over the years and am just catching up with things I've missed during my "manga hiatus" but I agree with NSESN: this may be one of my favorite manga of all time.

The Story Between a Dumb Prefect and a High School Girl with an Inappropriate Skirt Length

I'm pretty sure I initially dismissed this when this first started but it's actually pretty nice. Fast progression even though the mains are dummies, pretty amusing thought mostly not out loud funny. Feel like the brightest point is the array of side characters who in an already overall endearing cast are just super loveable dorks.

Temple

I don't think there's necessarily that much difference between this and a dozen other dumb harems is but this one I derive genuine enjoyment out of. Think it's mostly down to just Grand Blue artist's panel to panel flow of humour, character reactions and art. The series is also more absurd than is usual, aware of it and capable of exploiting it well. The serious developments are more on the trite side but still feel handled better than in most similar series.

Yeah, exactly. Seeing the characters fleshed out brings out the most out of the story. Obviously the movie had to cut something to not make it excessively long, but I was still disappointed after watching it. Probably if I had watched it beforehand I would've enjoyed it a bit more.

My biggest comapint about the Silent voice movie is that the pacing makes it feel like you've marathon-ed a TV series rather than watched a movie.

I actually prefer the silent voice movie to the manga. It's a close fight, especially since the movie has some issues with the side characters just kind of existing because they cut out a bunch of content with them (I read the manga after the movie) but overall while I enjoyed the extra content of the manga none of it felt like stuff that was vital to the story, and I prefer how the movie ends.
Both are great though.

I really enjoyed it because of all the discussions between the characters. I still don't know how I feel about the last chapter though.
I should probably reread it to formulate a better opinion. If you don't mind, what did they explain to you that made it click?

Apparently they changed a few lines in Look Back post publication to try and avoid stigmatising people with schizophrenia and to distance it a bit more from
kyoani by removing the plagiarism accusation motivation
. I get it, but I think the relation to the latter is still there either way.

It wasn't actually addressed, but with the schnoz on this new villain, looks like we've got 3/5 of the senses down. Only touch and taste remain.

Also, that gag on the last page was great. Glad this series is doing so well, it's a lot of fun.

Destroy All Humankind, they Can't be Regenerated 32
E7uj3EMWEAEzGic

I feel that we are getting very close to the end of the manga- we have had both main girls confess (to some degree), Hajime has made up his mind, and we have the big match between Hajime and Sawatari on Day 2 of Regionals starting, with Sawatari admitting this is the final tournament she will ever enter due to a promise from her mom. There was a lot of plot progression with the date at the Aquarium with my favorite game "find the MTG card"
E7ug_bWWYAQ_omH

Im going to be really sad when this is over, I still am not over the fact that this manga exists....

Really does feel like we're near the end. Can't never underscore enough just how perfectly it captures the nostalgia for my nerdy childhood in the 90s, gonna be sad to see it end as well.

It also feels like it would be more character-driven/episodic than TPN if it gets serialized. Maybe they wanted to do something less plot-heavy

Oh, it's just i was dumb as hell and was unable to process that they now had the same last name (and were thus married), so the rest of the story was really confusing (who are they talking about at this wedding?!?) until that was explained to me

Jealous of anyone who has quick access to a Kino... I'd probably spend like $200 a month on random magazines if I lived near one, lol. I've been eyeing the Maison Ikkoku books myself, Seven Days is a....decent? BL manga, and while its W*st*rn, I've been thinking of checking out This Was Our Pact....

Well I was pretty confused by your comment, so I went to reread the last chapter and realized I also had totally missed that lol. That makes a lot more sense.
I should still probably reread it all from the beginning

Why did I do this? I could've just had a nice Tuesday relaxing from work. I've made a grave error.

I kinda wanted to just catch up and then drop it, and I think I'll still do that, but I'm so confused about what the deal is with Nagi. I'm sure it's really dumb, contrived, and gross, but I can't help but feel curious. It felt like the manga was reaching its climax the last few chapters, so I'm surprised it's going to keep going from here. Really disgusting stuff. I had no clue what to expect when starting it. I never looked into it, because I could just tell that it was one of the manga thread's torture reads, but I absolutely didn't think I'd read a manga with a yandere pedo lady today.

Please give me the strength to not continue this manga.

Only now getting a chance to read the latest jump stuff

Mashle Is Mashle ending? I hope not, but everything has this weird finality to it. I do like the series, but it's never been particularly original. Just fun. So I don't actually know how well its been doing over in Japan...

Red Hood This was a fun chapter. It's kinda swung me around on the series and given me some hope.

Neru I know a lot of people might be glossing over this, but this manga is actually pretty good. its revealing itself as a critique of traditional education and how a lot of students that "underperform" really just need different teaching styles. Of all the recent new stuff, this one has me the most curious.

Candy Flurry It sucks it took too long for Candy Flurry to figure out a good sense of humor because the sexual harassment bit fucking killed me.

Choujin X Fun! I'm kinda surprised at just how much I am digging this as someone who really disliked Tokyo Ghoul.

MHA Can I return this bi-representation? Like really? Mineta? Really? I am almost a hundred percent sure this is a mistranslation/some translator taking the piss on people who don't like Mineta

It's not a mistranslation, but it doesn't necessarily need to be overtly romantic. The Japanese versions says オイラが惚れたおまえ[...]. Could still just be using an expression and not have meant it. Probably won't come up again.

In all likelihood, that line was a figure of speech, so I wouldn't put much thought into it
Right. I didn't give it much thought when I looked it up. Felt like an expression in a dramatic scene rather than a declaration of romantic love.

Since we're talking about Boy's Abyss, my experience with it : It was trending on /r/manga around 2 months back so I had to know what the fuss was about.
When I read something I add it to a list with a little comment to remember what it was about. Here's what I wrote at the time :
"Suicidal protagonist sleeps with everybody. AVOID"

...No thanks, I'll stick to action/fantastic/sci-fi shit.
