I don't care if it is $599. I bought 3 years of game pass ultimate for $90 and I don't have to buy new controllers, so even then it will be the cheapest generational leap by far for me. And with such insane specs I'm hyped out of my mind.

This! Also the amount of games available at launch day should be one of the selling points in their marketing.
With the XGP you get your money's worth even if its 599.

Man, i really want that console. Im still being blown away by my Xbox One X from time to time, and i dont even play on a 4K TV. Saving a lot of money for TV en Series X. Man, what a nice future for console gamers!.

MS just waiting now to undercut the PS5.

They will do it. Sony renting their Azure servers will pay for the loss they'll take.

MS clearly isn't playing around here and is playing chicken with Sony hard.
What does Azure have to do with he Xbox division? The Xbox division is actually renting Azure servers and Azure has its own profitability strategy. Don't expect MS to just syphon Sony/Azure money to Xbox just like that. Their corporate structure is quite compartmentalised.

The most exciting feature by far is the multi resume. Basically, as long as the next-gen systems are fast at everything (suspend/resume, loading, smart downloads/streaming, Store/UI) I'd be happy.

In order of excitement:
  1. Low load times
  2. Quick resume
  3. High frame rates
This qol stuff really matters when you're bouncing from game to game due to Game Pass. Will also be interested to see how streaming while downloading works. Curious about those universal BC enhancements. Xbox's BC team are wizards and shouldn't be forgotten.

Pretty sure we're gonna get a games only E3 this year because of this drop, games only and maybe some UI display or better yet keep that in a press release also

You mean Yakuza 0 and Kiwami 1+2 equals the whole series now? There's still Judgement, Yakuza 3-5 collection, yakuza 6 and yakuza 7.
Yeah I hope that it gets supported enough for the whole series to come through. Sega has been really open about wanting more multiplatform series and Yakuza is getting a lot of buzz on Xbox so hopefully it's just the beginning.

This honestly reads to me that even Xbone games are getting into the mix of having a resolution boost (which would be absolutely amazing)
oh shit we don't have to wait for patched anymore, all games improved, or am I reading too much into it?

Probably just referring to dynamic resolutions, any game that runs at dynamic res on XB1/X will almost assuredly top out at the res ceiling on XSX, so instead of dynamic res games with a 4K cap hovering at 1800p or something on XB1X, it will hold 4K. Framerate will probably hold the cap as well. Basically just a hands-off "boost mode" for games that dont get patches

I was just starting to not care about when Sony will reveal more info about the PS5. Then MS reveals new info and confirms some about the Series x. Now I'm back to being thirsty for PS5 info but knowing Sony even if they had a wired article planned before GDC. They'll be petty and not say anything now lol

Honest question because I'm bad with specs

Should I return the 2060 Laptop I recently bought for an XSX? Is it that much more powerful?

Wait, improved BC with no developer action?

This is bigger than anything else, for me. I'm still bitter they didn't improve the resolution of Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey on the X.

In a small package like this ? I don't think so. Don't forget consols have an APU and not two dedicated CPU/GPU.
The APU can't run at his full power without lowering his speed to keep it cold.

Going by the specs it may very well be
A 9.X 5700 XT is pretty close to a 2070 super.
A 12 TF RDNA 2 GPU might be 2080+ level

I want to be excited about this but knowing there won't be games made only for it until 2022 at the earliest, and the possibly of Lockhart dampers it a bit. I can't wait to see gameplay of a next gen only game already
This claim is stretching the worst case scenario (which a lot seem to be doing here)

Matt's statement was made in Nov. of 2019 about XGS output not having XSX exclusives for one OR two years..and everyone now assumes two years..I don't get that.

We will likely get exclusives by Fall 2021 at the latest.

I think we will be fine at 1080p. Consoles will target 4K which eats a lot of performance. Plus, we have DLSS which almost doubles the performance of the 2060. If you don't plan on gaming at ultra settings and 4K, don't worry.

In terms of raw performance, the console is a little more than 2x as powerful (5.5 TFLOPs to 12 TFLOPs) But architectures are not really comparable that way.

If it has full BC with all past Xbox then JSRF will finally be playable again. Neat

As always I'll buy a console if there is a game on it I want to play on it that I can't play anywhere else I already have access to. Tech talk and jargon means nothing to me - only do I want to play a game that is on it. They bought a lot of studios so the chances are good - looking forward to seeing those games.

Good to see them list flops in detail. Am I mistaken tho or do we still not know ram amount and cpu speed?

The CPU is going to be an 8 core Zen 2, so whatever clock speed they end up fitting within their thermal envelope, it is going to provide a monumental leap forward in CPU processing power. There's really nothing to worry about in that regard.

Great specs but it'll be games that'll sway me not specs. The Xbox one didn't have a single exclusive game that made me want to buy it and judging by its abysmal sales so did a lot of people. Hopefully they'll try and fix that this gen as these specs could produce some phenomenal games.

On one hand, this really puts into perspective just what an amazing feat of engineering it is. On the other, it is also a pity that for a while, this need to support all Xboxes, ranging from One S to Series X will mean what the box can do is still going to be guessed at for quite some time.

At the least, insofar as MS is concerned, people can just a copy of cross gen Xbox One/Series X game and they won't have to double dip.

So PlayStation 5 is nowhere near these specs right? Yikes

How would anyone but Sony and devs know?

Must feel weird to drop $500+ for a high end GPU now when you see those specs.
Next gen PC GPUs can't come soon enough

But, should we prepared for a smallish jump in RAM amount?
