Smart Delivery: This technology empowers you to buy a game once and know that – whether you are playing it on Xbox One or Xbox Series X – you are getting the right version of that game on whatever Xbox you're playing on. We're making the commitment to use Smart Delivery on all our exclusive Xbox Game Studios titles, including Halo Infinite, ensuring you only have to purchase a title once in order to play the best available version for whichever Xbox console they choose to play on. This technology is available for all developers and publishers, and they can choose to use it for titles that will be release on Xbox One first and come to the Xbox Series X later.

Play anywhere over generations, LOVE IT!

I hope third parties sign on for cross gen games, I'm not going to buy twice and will wait for the next gen if I have too (Cyberpunk etc.)

I am sort of perplexed as to why the official statement lists 12TF RDNA2 as "twice" as powerful as One X given it's architectural efficiency means greater than 2x real world performance over Polaris (GCN).

GCN on top.

It should not be perplexing because talking about RDNA2 (or even RDNA1) efficiency vs any version of GCN makes things more complex for marketing.

Besides, a teraflop is a teraflop.

I don't understand why people find it hard to swallow a $599 price point for a higher end console? They're marketing this one towards enthusiasts. Quite frankly, $599 seems perfectly fine. There's a reason they're releasing multiple systems.

I'm sure they know what they're doing, and heck, maybe it's even less. Gaming isn't a cheap hobby.

I'm glad to see they are promoting low latency and higher frame rates. I was hoping that if nothing else came of Stadia it would push an emphasis on latency and that seems to be what happened.

499 or 599? What do you think? We need a thread with a poll. Hell this could even be even more... doubt it but still.

MS would have to take a huge hit to get this thing down to $499.

I'd be hugely surprised if they went lower than $549-$599.

People saying this thing would be dead at over $499 don;t realise quite how powerful this thing is and what MSs sales expectations for it will be.

The ace in their hole is that at the launch event I think they'll also drop Lockheart at $299.

If so, they'll be expecting something akin to an 85%/15% sales ratio. So with a strong gen of circa 80m sales next gen they'd only sell 12m of XSX and 68m Lockhearts. That's certainly doable. Particularly with All Access.

XSX is the S20 Ultra of the console world. The top-tier spec war winning version that most won;t buy that simply exists to create a Halo effect around the brand.

Nothing about the CPU ? A good GPU is nothing without a good CPU.

But yeah... they target 120hz so the CPU need to be beefy.

Really excited to see the games that are going to be developed solely for this piece of Hardware. Must be mind blowing

Stadia has yet to show higher performance than the XBX. So this announcement is the least of its problems.

Amazing! Doesn't do much for me since I already own a top of the line PC, but this is going to be phenomenal value for the price. $599 is a possibility but I'd guess $499

I also really like it that Microsoft is so open and transparent. It seems like they are really confident about their product which gives me a great feeling that I'm doing the right choice with buying an XBox Series X at launch.

Sony quietness on the other hand is starting to get a little worrying. This doesn't mean that I think there are in trouble, but it looks to me like they are not as confident as Microsoft is right now.

Oh, and PC Master Race people, this is the new baseline for you to claim your membership card:

8C/16T CPU
RTX2070Super or better
NVMe SSD

Anything less, and a console will be bettering you. Might as well call yourself PC Lower Caste.
I can't tell if comments like these are actually serious or just a big joke anymore... the internet has ruined me.

One thing I'm surprised about is 120fps support and basically having Gsync inbuilt. Are there even TVs out there yet that support more than 60fps?

Also, how do we abbreviate the name from now on and how do we call the people owning one? :D

Can't wait for 30fps versions of games with that 12tf of power!

(please make framerate more important than res this gen. Lol)

Lol chill, I can see that it's RDNA 2.0 I was more just thinking out loud about how much Phil downplayed the performance..that was pretty a slick move and obviously intentional.

XSX is WAY more powerful than he was letting on in the beginning.

Lol, it's all good man. I'm really curious to find out if XSX GPU is indeed using 56 CUs. If so, we should nearly be able to figure out the clockspeed.

Show us the games already!!

Specs really mean nothing until we know what we're going to be playing on it.

Fair point. Yet given they went out of their way to outline how VRS works, it feels like they did not need to undersell just how much of a gain 12TF RDNA is over 6TF GCN.

Anyway, this is a huge, and I mean huge victory for MS's and AMD's engineering partnership.

Having all the 1st party line up for launch as a GP sub is going to be amazing.
Game Pass is honestly amazing. I've been a subscriber for around 8 months now and I love it. And you're right—not having to buy 3 to 5 games in addition to the console at launch is really appealing. Just sign up for Game Pass and play Halo Infinite and other first-party games immediately.

Running a regular RTX 2070, but aside from that the PC I built fall 2018 meets all the criteria to best the hot new console coming out Holiday 2020...

Also, PC has mods.

The Series X looks impressive, though. No need to throw out bait and start a PC/Console war.

console warrior + classic PCMR bait aside, pretty sure no one plays PC gaming this way, particularly since much of this is nonsensical with a seemingly poor understanding of PC hardware eg superior to current gen processor performance doesn't require 8 cores nor does it even require that many threads of even half that.

Most people are very content with PC flexibility to upgrade as they see fit, at a level that makes sense for them. That's kind of the whole point of not being beholden to a vendors hardware spec.

Plenty of folk will have no problem with the games coming in the next couple of years
