I don't thing any other outlets are going to fall for the April's Joke... but I share the feeling about the coverage the Indie Showcase got. Honestly, I was expecting much more from the few I follow.

Thankfully Gematsu never disappoints and is always on top.

The indie show didn't get covered because the format wasn't easily digestible. It was 4 hours. Refusing to do those shows is Xbox's biggest blind spot.

You didnt need to watch the show to get all the info out of it. I didnt. As i woke up i got all the info as it was posted on Twitter, xbox news wire etc
But i get Kotaku doesnt have the attention span for it. As they didnt even bother to check the Halo delay stuff by clicking on a twitter account to see its verified or how many followers it has. Or you know. Knowing Chris Lee isnt at 343 anymore..

It didn't get covered because the media has little interest in indies pre-release. It's not until they release and gain a strong following that the media suddenly gets on the bandwagon.

Example is Hades, which whilst in Early Access got virtually no coverage from the media whatsoever. Indeed there are tons of incredible looking upcoming indies on all platforms but they weren't appearing on media's most anticipated 2021+ games lists. It's always AAA stuff.

Either way, obviously Halo getting delayed again would be a bigger news story for any media outlet (if it had been true).

It truly was a bad format, I love indies and I had a hard time following the news of that show. I hope Xbox rethink this because they had plenty of bangers.

I blame Twitch Gaming for it, it was really their show and Xbox just provided the content. But that doesn't excuse Xbox for somehow still missing their own seasonal, 30-45 minute hype show.

That was the impression I got as well. It was Twitch's show, since the entire show and interviews were essentially hosted by Twitch streamers. Microsoft should have held a show of their own, a more condensed and concise show.

Someone set up a fake 343 Account to do an April Fool's Joke that Halo got delayed to 2022 and Kotaku fell for it.

kotaku.com

Halo Infinite Delayed To 2022 [UPDATED: We Got Got]

Hey, everyone, I am a dumbass. Halo Infinite has not, to Kotaku’s knowledge, been cancelled. We fell for a fake tweet from an in hindsight obviously fake account. (Follower count: 53.) On the eve of April Fool’s. Yes, I realize how this looks. I regret the error. Kotaku regrets the error.

oh wow lol

MS should pay Square to port over FF Tactics, Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together and Chrono Trigger. I'd love to have these games on a modern console.

Now imagine when all 35 XBOX studios starting dropping there games also Day 1 in GP :)

The best thing about internal development is that Xbox won't need to rely on 3rd party publishers for Gamepass content.

Starting with 2021-2022, 3-4 AAA games in a year from Xbox Game Studios + ZeniMax will be huge. Hopefully some upcoming games will win GOTY this generation.

What's really scary is Xbox wants both, Day 1 3rd- party AAA on XGP and First-Party AAA games. I see high chance Dying Light 2 day 1 on XGP

Trails of mana is one of the SQE games, that skipped Xbox, that I'd like the most so I hope that's true.

Wasn't there supposed to be an Xbox Live Spring sale starting yesterday? I thought somebody posted about that in here on Tuesday.

Wait a minute Kotaku failed miserably in their craft and published a story without researching, then tried to pretend they made an April Fool's joke when the substance of their story evaporated in a cloud of lies???

wow

WOW

Some self respecting journalism right there

Isn't the second "got" basically an admission of their failure?

No, they said "They got got". Meaning: they fell for it.

I don't blame them for not realizing Chris Less was no longer the director on the game. I also don't blame them for at first glance thinking it was a legitimate release - the little "7" icon that looks like a verified checkmark was genius, and the image looked exactly like previous communiques from the studio (because it probably started as one)

Their big journalistic error was simply not taking a couple of minutes to check the Twitter account they were pulling the "news" from, which would have made it painfully obvious it was fake.

Isn't the second "got" basically an admission of their failure?

Yes, they admitted the mistake, and didn't try to play it off as anything else. An embarrassing mistake that should function as a reminder for the people there to never take standard due diligence for granted, but not the end of the world.

So we're now 9 days away from the 1 year anniversary of FF7 Remake. What do you folks think the odds are that an Xbox port gets announced on or after the 10th?

I don't think it's happening, but I have no basis.

I've been playing it on ps5 but man is it stuffed with padding. I've pretty much dropped the game at this point because of that. I don't very much enjoy games that are stuffed with unnecessary crap, especially when you have no choice but to do them.

Nothing runs well on base consoles anymore. Thats just a reality we true believers of the OG have to deal with. For what is worth i played the demo just fine but i dont know if i just have high tolerance for shitty performance, i dont even think 30fps is unplayable (please dont tell the rest of Era)

Yo, just got a series X, and I have some questions for Xbox fans.

Is Halo 5 worth playing if I skipped 4? Is it worth playing in general? Is Gears 5 worth playing if I skipped 4 (and 3 and 2 and Judgement)? Are either of these titles worth my time (which is limited to about 3-4 hours of gaming per day)? I'm looking through Game Pass and trying to find stuff to occupy April since I'm not planning on buying new games this month. I played all of Ori and loved most of it. (The last bit kind of sucked ass, but the rest was pleasurable).

I haven't tried it (gave my base XBO to my brother when I got the One X), but going by demo performance on One X, I'm gonna guess it doesn't run all that well.

Thanks!

I'll probably try to push through anyway, just because I have no faith in being able to find a XSX here anytime soon, and my province is entering another month long lockdown on Saturday.

I'd play Halo 4 instead of 5. Gears 5 was an amazing experience. You might not understand the story as much if you haven't played 4 but go for it. It's a huge step above any other game in the series.
