My Bingo Card for Xbox at TGS:

- Phil Spencer announces Phil Spencer will be shut down. Phil thanks Phil for his Philling all these years and wishes him well wherever he turns up. Phil introduces new Xbox CEO Bill Fencer.

- Xbox announces Tony Hawk Pro Skater will be a playable character in the Banjo Kazooie game that's just been cancelled.

- Microsoft has now acquired Concord IP from Sony.

- Microsoft announces 14th new push into Japanese market saying they can't understand why they didn't try this sooner.

- Microsoft announces new first party games coming to Switch and Playstation. Sony and Nintendo, likewise, announce nothing is coming to Xbox.
It took me awhile to finish reading this, the first line had me dying.

Hoping for Blue Dragon/Lost Odyssey remasters, but expecting something Game Pass or FF related.

Please not an acquisition.

Most likely more Japanese games coming to Xbox which is cool, but zero interest. Give me something spicy like a new Banjo(even a remake) or Halo 3 Anniversary.

This is the least surprising thing ever and yet it still pains me, not like Xbox players would fundamentally change the perception of the game but I really felt like it was a much better game than anyone has given it any credit for...

Yeah it was a game I had no problem playing the entire way through. I really liked Frey. Would be a good Game Pass candidate but I'm assuming Square wants nothing to do with it.

im sure Square would be happy to leave Forspoken behind them, plus it is on PC with achievements so that probably marks it as good enough for them

for the first time their japanese host misuzu araki traveled to redmond for recording the show.
also, as opposed to last year, this year's showcase only featured one japanese game, so i think they delayed some of their content to tgs.
a year ago they hired ex-playstation vice president mena sato kato for japanese third party relationships.
some years ago they built up a japanese arm of their publishing division and i don't think they're only working on od.
the blue dragon rumor was supported by nate.

Imagine promoting it as if it wasn't worth tuning in. Imagine if Microsoft spent hundreds of thousands of $ on what is, essentially, add placement for an event that they anticipated would not be worth tuning in for.

last years's show had relatively high production values but not the content to support it

I don't doubt people can feel that way, though I imagine Microsoft still intend the event to be worth tuning in for. I imagine, there was still an audience for their content even if it didn't please ERA.

I'm just hoping for Blue Dragon on Switch. Barebones port? I'd love that! Lost Odyssey also for Switch would be oh so good.

Dunno how likely these are. Didn't Nate tease Blue Dragon a couple months ago or something as something MS are actively bringing back, even if it's just a remaster? And for that matter, is a remaster even "needed" for Xbox since you can play the 360 original and was that not already enhanced for newer consoles?

Other examples were Tales of Vesperia, but that had the PS3 content in the remaster so Xbox fans had something to buy the remaster for. Dunno if there's any technical difference. Didn't that also get enhanced for 4K60 on Xbox One X and likely Series X?

Like we're in an era where BC games can just be "remastered" right out of the box depending on how the company handles it. I'm hoping Switch 2 buffs Switch games in the same way (even if it's just to top out dynamic res and uncapped framerate games to 1080p60 locked).

Edit: Nate brought it up recently:

Xbox Game Studios + Bethesda + ABK |OT32| Mythologies, Histories, Prophecies OT

https://youtu.be/bZv9hbwwi1s?t=2832 Nate bringing up the June Blue Dragon remaster/remake whatever rumors for the Showcase that didn't pan out. And that hopefully something like that appears at TGS to have something announced 'with substance'. To be clear: he's not saying it will happen or even...

He's predicting it'll go the Freedom Wars route that it gets picked up by a 3rd-party for a possible multiplat release (and even as a BD collection), but that sounds like speculation?

If the case, Marvelous is obvious since Artoon was behind BD and Feelplus+ was behind Lost Odyssey, both were absorbed (alongside Cavia) into AQ which then merged with Marvelous.

ON THE OTHER HAND, Bandai Namco DID publish Blue Dragon: Awakened Shadow for DS, the last entry (developed by tri-Crescendo, who made Eternal Sonata and Fragile Dreams). So that'd be hilarious if BN got Freedom Wars, AND Blue Dragon... Sony and MS by the same publisher? Crazier things have happened! LOL
