That was my initial fear. "Here are some games you played elsewhere in the past few years" is not going to land with anyone. Surely they've learnt that by now.
What aside from Blue Dragon or Lost Odyssey could they possibly even announce that's new? This show in particular is such a non-factor for Xbox in particular aside from said ports - nobody with relevance is clamoring to show their big new game at Xbox TGS - it's no showcase in terms of reach, not even remotely close.

The new Atelier game is getting an Xbox release for the first time. Maybe KOEI/GUST will announce that Atelier Ryza 1, 2 and 3 is coming to Xbox and Game Pass?

Just go into this stream with SE ports being announced as your expectations and you should be okay.

I'm just hoping for Blue Dragon on Switch. Barebones port? I'd love that! Lost Odyssey also for Switch would be oh so good.

Dunno how likely these are. Didn't Nate tease Blue Dragon a couple months ago or something as something MS are actively bringing back, even if it's just a remaster? And for that matter, is a remaster even "needed" for Xbox since you can play the 360 original and was that not already enhanced for newer consoles?

Other examples were Tales of Vesperia, but that had the PS3 content in the remaster so Xbox fans had something to buy the remaster for. Dunno if there's any technical difference. Didn't that also get enhanced for 4K60 on Xbox One X and likely Series X?

Like we're in an era where BC games can just be "remastered" right out of the box depending on how the company handles it. I'm hoping Switch 2 buffs Switch games in the same way (even if it's just to top out dynamic res and uncapped framerate games to 1080p60 locked).

Edit: Nate brought it up recently:

www.resetera.com

Xbox Game Studios + Bethesda + ABK |OT32| Mythologies, Histories, Prophecies OT

https://youtu.be/bZv9hbwwi1s?t=2832 Nate bringing up the June Blue Dragon remaster/remake whatever rumors for the Showcase that didn't pan out. And that hopefully something like that appears at TGS to have something announced 'with substance'. To be clear: he's not saying it will happen or even...

He's predicting it'll go the Freedom Wars route that it gets picked up by a 3rd-party for a possible multiplat release (and even as a BD collection), but that sounds like speculation?

If the case, Marvelous is obvious since Artoon was behind BD and Feelplus+ was behind Lost Odyssey, both were absorbed (alongside Cavia) into AQ which then merged with Marvelous.

ON THE OTHER HAND, Bandai Namco DID publish Blue Dragon: Awakened Shadow for DS, the last entry (developed by tri-Crescendo, who made Eternal Sonata and Fragile Dreams). So that'd be hilarious if BN got Freedom Wars, AND Blue Dragon... Sony and MS by the same publisher? Crazier things have happened! LOL
It's Bandai Namco that helped on smash bros too right ? And even Metroid Prime 4 before going back to rétro.

FF Pixel Remasters dropping on Game Pass alongside few other SE games.
FFXVI coming to Xbox in 2025.
Atelier games coming to Game Pass.
Maybe one surprise.

That's my prediction.

Kojima game further revealed? Or is the Xbox going into the portable hardware market directly?

Hence why "It's going to be worth tuning into the Xbox Tokyo Game Show broadcast next week" isn't going to stack up for some late ports.

For majority Era members who play most of JP games on Playstation and Switch, this live stream means nothing to them.
For a dozens of gamers like me waiting for some JP games porting to Xbox, then it might be worthy, but to be frankly, my expectation is quite low.

MS' parternship with SEGA during the last years may mean some announcements from their side, which is often a nice thing. I don't expect any other big thing tho.

Sega has their own stream literally the next day. If they attempt to impose multiplat embargos then nothing new is showing up aside from gamepass announcements, unless Sega wants the hilariously (poor) situation of trying to promote stuff with only the Xbox logo slapped on their ass to a primarily japanese audience.

Considering it was only just released for PC this week, very unlikely. They don't want to shoot the PC sales in the head completely.

I imagine they announce that as just a straight port, no gamepass (at least yet)

Sounds about right.

Always low expectations for Xbox's TGS until they give a show to think otherwise.

"We're proud to announce that we have ported Bloodborne to Xbox Series S/X, 60 fps, with 4k on Series X. We do not think that Sony will care enough to sue us."

what are you talking about

An Xbox VR headset is on the way, but it’s a “limited edition” Meta Quest

An Xbox-inspired VR headset is coming soon.

"The Verge" said:
Microsoft is teaming up with Meta to create a limited edition Meta Quest VR headset that's "inspired by Xbox." While both Microsoft and Meta aren't sharing full details on this VR headset, it sounds like it's simply going to be a skinned Meta Quest 3 (or future unannounced version) that comes bundled with an Xbox controller.

"We're working together again [with Microsoft] to create a limited-edition Meta Quest, inspired by Xbox," says Meta in an announcement today. It's part of Meta opening up its operating system that powers its Quest VR headsets to third-party hardware makers.

The most insane thing that MS can do is show their Nintendo Switch to the Japanese Market. Japan loves portable consoles, and if there are games they care on it they would buy like water.
Would be a bold movement, one that I know that MS is no capable of pull it off.
