I want to get to this game so badly! I've been been playing the first game on and off again for a while now on Game Pass, after years of owning the PS2 classic on PS4 and never playing it. At the boss fight for Gloria's Theater. Love the charm and writing of the game, but I hate the janky PS2/OG Xbox-era controls.

The idea of the charm of that game with a modernized control scheme sounds incredible. It's also amazing to play a platformer that actually has a story, but I guess it shouldn't be that shocking given the point-and-click adventure pedigree of many of the people involved...

about to finish it I think just wanted to chime in before then saying it's still fucking awesome.
if i HAD to list anything, outside of the combat itself that i had any gripes with, it's:

I wish they used the mental connection to change thoughts more. It was fun, I get why it was only in the one level story wise, but it was rad
and I wish I could double jump while riding the ball. It's pretty frustrating not being able to and I try to swap out of it and jump and you just kinda fall.

Just finished Bob Zanotto's level.

I wasn't expecting the ending of this level to reveal Helmut and Bob were married. I fucking loved that and it's my new favorite moment in the game. Also am I just realizing that Nick is voiced by Elijah Wood, or does it just sound like him???

Just popping in to say holy shit!!
I'm 6 hours in and expected to…like this, but it's seriously a GOTY coalready.

Im shocked. It's beautiful and fun as hell and seems filled to the brim with content.

I think I'll be playing all night. Hats off to DF - you really outdid yourselves here :)

Holy shit I can't believe they got <late game voice actor>

Rikki Simmons! aka GIR from Invader Zim to play the Archetype. I had to google it the first time I summoned him and he said "Im a paper airplane!" sure enough this game is a reunion.

Just finished the casino and bruh this game is fantastic. Great platforming with unique and creative level design it's been a blast so far. Not to mention the story and characters feels like something out of a Pixar film which is probably the highest compliment I could give. I seriously think this would make for a great Netflix animated series (MS you can write my check please).

just finished it a little ago and ran around a little after. big heavy thumbs up, game stayed exciting throughout, I was worried the levels might lose some of their excitement after how strong the beginning was but nope! all pretty awesome!

You can do it with good timing on the log closest to the area you jump off from without the time ability.

You can also do it, just by riding the logs and jumping as they're about to turn. I did it both ways before getting the ability and kept thinking something was off, like these platforms are too fast moving. Turns out they were :)

Wow, I just finished *huge spoilers for the second half of the game*
Bob's level, and holy shit, that got heavy. If you listen to the full conversation in the office from when he got fired it's fucking brutal. And man, I have alcoholics in my family and some of those lines hit home. "I don't need help, I just need my job" sent a chill down my spine. And when you finally get to the greenhouse after hearing Bob ask him mom why she spends so much time there and then the plants start revealing bottles from everywhere…

The game's been slowly rising from "better than I expected" to "wow, I think I actually like this more than the first game" to "this is fantastic." That level in particular just sealed it as an absolute work of art, it was beautiful in so many ways. (And the visuals are just a part of that but man, I'm getting more bummed out at each passing level that I'm playing it on PS4, you can really tell it's meant to be played in HDR).

There's so many fantastic characters in this game. I can't decide which one to pick as an avatar.

Finished the game today. Love how the plot is unraveled, but the game doesn't hold your hand too much and lets you realize what's going on and make the connections without explicitly overstating everything.

Going for the platinum most likely, revisiting the levels is quite fun.

Just started this and what a fun and imaginative game!

Only issue so far is that vibration seems broken in game. Ive not had the controller rumble on my Series S once during combat and throwing stuff around. Then finally as I slide down the hallway towards the section with Lili where you have to burn the posters - the rumble motors kicked in!

Is this the same for everyone else?

Weirdly, can't seem to get stable 60fps on the PC version of the game, and I have a more than enough PC for it (Ryzen 3600 + RTX 3070).

Anyone had any issues regarding performance?

Yeah I got in there without the ability as well. But I just timed the log coming up and I used the B/Circle button air dive to kind of glitch to go through the water.

Yes it definitely feels like it is bugged currently because some things can trigger the rumble but 90% of the time combat moves or getting hit don't cause any vibration. Super weird.

I simply cannot adequately put into words just how much joy Harold the rat brings me.

Adored him in Rhombus and he's stealing every scene of the game he's in here too.

Wow. This mission
cleaning out Bobs Garden
was legit some top tier shit in gaming, imo. Awesome level design, cool concept and it was an endearing story.

Near the ending of the mission
with the proposal between Bob and Helmut
was both sad and adorable lol.

Just got to the main hub after the tutorial mission. Without spoilers, how central are your classmates/other interns to the story?

Is it a cameo situation or the main deal?

Just finished the main story.

The game definitely has some rough edges, but as a whole it's something special. The lead-up to the finale was pretty great, but I couldn't help but feel that the ending fell a little flat. I wish there was a spoiler thread to discuss some stuff in more detail.

Is it just me or does anybody else keep their projection constantly with them even when they're not needed? Its fun having a paper buddy with you.

So early on I had a suspicion about who the mole was, and I'm curious if anyone else noticed this and had the same thought I did:

When the two of them speak for the first time, Raz asks Truman if he knows who kidnapped him. Truman says he only saw "that psycho in the shower cap". My immediate thought was that it was kind of a harsh line, especially after some of the other agents expressed empathy towards Loboto. At that point I suspected that not everything was as it seemed with Truman. Turns out I was on the right track.

Probably a reach on my part, but it would be neat if this were an intentional and subtle bit of foreshadowing early on that Truman wasn't the real Truman.

Either way, finished it up last night and it was fantastic. Most fun I've had with a game all year.

That seems like a huge stretch to me. The others start to
empathize with Loboto because they went into his mind and saw he was being intimidated into doing things against his will. Truman wasn't there for that. It would also make sense for Truman to be less forgiving after the even of RoR. If anything it would have been bizarre if he WEREN'T harsher to Loboto than everyone else.

Maybe we'll get confirmation at some point but I'd be shocked if it were intentional.

How can a game be this good?

Also a great showcase of fake HDR either SpecialK on PC or AutoHDR on Xs. Basically all of casino brain, and that boss fight are wow!

Finished the game as well, really cool. I thought some of the story was a little disjointed but I didn't see all of the side content yet. Could anyone give a hint as to who I need to talk to to use the (object/collectible spoiler) purple/pink computer terminals found in the quarry areas?

I thought it was a neat touch that Major Spoiler -
After you finish the game, when you fall in water 3 times the monster now helps you out and does no damage

Ashamed to admit I never gave the first game my time. Remember hearing of it back at the time and didn't seem like something I'd enjoy. But now the hype seems quite high for the sequel so... should I play the first before jumping in? I've got Game Pass, has it aged well?

There's a recap of the story of the first game as soon as you boot up the 2nd, i did not play the first game and i'm loving it.

The writing and imagination is still great. Its a bit clunky at times with the gameplay itself at times.
If you want the best experience with the sequel then yes, its absolutely worth. Its full of references to the first game and some of the characters are built on.

I'm playing on my ps5 with the game on a external hard drive and I'm getting a decent amount of stutters.

I am loving he story and world, but the combat and controls are not that great.

having to switch out your powers to the triggers could have been handled better.

I love the controls so far (especially coming from the first game) but I agree with the power switching thing. It's not too much of a hassle but it is a bit annoying. Would've been nice if you could maybe have two sets of power assignments and switch between them using the d-pad or something.

Doesn't totally alleviate this but if you go in to controls settings and toggle on 'use triple jump to glide' and 'levitation ball pulldown from glide' you basically free up ever having to equip the glide power.

It makes it so that it activates the glide by triple jumping and then activated the ball if you hit jump again while you're gliding, whenever you want without needing to have the levitation power equipped.

One less power to worry about having to keep switching!
