Ok, this game is super clever.

Not a fan of platforms but loving every bit.
Also, can't remember the last time I took the time to speak to every NPC (and stop to check how they view Raz)

I am in the last quarter of the game (at least in terms of brains explored according to the size of the page in the menu) and I'm realising how much of this game got spoiled for me despite my attempts to see as little as possible. I keep wanting this game to surprise me, and it does! But each surprise is quickly followed by an "oh wait, that was someone's profile picture, oh wait that was in a developer interview" etc.

I would give anything to play this game completely blind.

This is a very, very good game.

I think it scratches that Banjo & Kazooie collectathon itch better than any modern 3d platformer I can think of while also managing to tell a better story than pretty much any other platformer. I just love it.

Yeah, it's hard for a game like this that focuses so much on creativity and surprising the player to advertise itself without ruining all the surprises. You basically have to completely avoid everything pre-launch. This was exactly how I felt about Mario Odyssey when it came out, Nintendo kept making a big deal about how they wanted to fill it with surprises and then I played it and Bowser's Kingdom was basically the only thing in the whole game I hadn't already seen (or had been hinted at) pre-release.

So early on I had a suspicion about who the mole was, and I'm curious if anyone else noticed this and had the same thought I did:

When the two of them speak for the first time, Raz asks Truman if he knows who kidnapped him. Truman says he only saw "that psycho in the shower cap". My immediate thought was that it was kind of a harsh line, especially after some of the other agents expressed empathy towards Loboto. At that point I suspected that not everything was as it seemed with Truman. Turns out I was on the right track.

Probably a reach on my part, but it would be neat if this were an intentional and subtle bit of foreshadowing early on that Truman wasn't the real Truman.

Either way, finished it up last night and it was fantastic. Most fun I've had with a game all year.
I didn't think of that, but definitely a good catch

I figured it out when he was all like tell no one!! Yeah that is pretty much it, he is the mole. What i was not expecting was that there was someone else involved too. I thought it was just gonna be Truman turned into a bad person but what was actually happening was a real what the fuck is happening right now. Was not expecting it at all. When Truman looks at Nick near the machine and is like uhh, what is he doing here? I was ALSO like holy heck things are about to get weird aren't they.

Is anyone else having issues with the game hard-crashing their console from Quick Resume? It's happened to me twice in the past couple of days. I launch the game from its suspended state and I get a black screen for a few seconds and then the console fully powers down. Super frustrating because I've almost never encountered issues with Quick Resume in other games to this point. At least the autosaves are frequent!

Reading this conversation made me realize.. the reason he plants were dying wasn't because of the psytanium or whatever poisoning from the rhombus but because of the brain swap

Also the reason why his daughter was constantly worried that her father's brain was changed beyond recognition 🤔

I kinda don't even want a Banjo-Threeie anymore. Too many of the old Banjo heads left before Rare was even aquired. I want Double Fine to work on whatever creative projects they are said to be cooking up now and then bless us with a full-blown Psychonauts 3 in like 5-6 years.

Question about a side quest in the Questionable Area:
im supposed to get Lili a fungus from the top of the Falls. It seemed obvious to jump on top of one of the logs, there's even a platform that seems made for this near where one of the other interns is trying to capture a goat for Boole. But whenever I try I just die. How do you get up there?

Halfway through question:
I just have Bowling Alley Cruller left, and when I entered the bowling alley, a message popped up saying "there's only one fragment of Cruller left on the Motherlobe! Finish up what you want to do before continuing"... Is this a true point of no-return? I.E. I cannot go back to 100% old levels or do sidequests? Or is it just gonna pull me away from the Motherlobe for a few missions/levels and then I can come back and continue the scavenger hunt etc?

This is exactly why I suspected Truman as well. I also suspected Nick as soon as Hollis says everyone likes him and I heard his full name. Nick Johnsmith? May as well have been John Everyman, Norm Hall, or Hue Man.

You will need a particular ability to access it.

The slow time ability from the Psi King level

Another hint about the mole's identity:

Apparently if you use clairvoyance on "Truman", he views you as a Grulovian peasant.

You will need a particular ability to access it.

You can also barely slip through the waterfall without the ability if you're lucky. Just be sure you get the fungus the first time so you don't have to do it twice like an idiot I know who definitely isn't me.

I'm at the PSI king level which is super cool, at first I wasn't feeling it but the game has hit a really good groove. My biggest issue, and it's a personal taste thing, way too story heavy. I played the first, I knew what I was getting into but I wished the balance was better. The first few hours I couldn't get into a steady flow of gaming cause the game would remove control from you for some cutscene like every few minutes. When I play platformers sometimes I just want to be let loose to explore and mess around.

Now the game is letting me do that so it's improved tremendously. It plays great, it's creative as hell and the world building is fantastic. BUT the gameplay is too simple, none of the platforming is challenging, combat while slightly better is still mostly an afterthought. It's like a casual fun romp through cool levels but it's not scratching that platforming skill itch that I value so much.

Dang, I'm about 5 hours in (wish I could play more), and I still just blown away at how great the game has turned out so far.

It's just still surprising how consistent the characters are compared to the original, how good, and even how much better the writing is in many ways. How much better the combat and platforming is now, and especially just how creative and incredible looking the levels are.

I honestly never thought I'd see the day Psychonauts got a sequel that turned out this good, and especially with this high of a budget.

Whatever Double Fine decide to do next, whether it's Psychonaurs 3, Brutal Legend 2, or something completely new, I'm there as always, but I have a feeling a lot of other people will be too after this.

Wow. I started dying a lot during
Booles section.

It's not even like it was a huge difficulty spike. I just kept on missing platforms life after life.

uh, wow. This game, it's double fine charm I know and love, but it's actually got really nice polish. I backed it 6 million years ago on fig, and wasn't expecting something with the scope and polish this has. bravo to Shafer and the whole crew, hopefully its very successful for them!

How well is the game performing on PC. Does it have bugs? Should I wait a month or jump in whenever I have time. How long to beat the game?

Thanks for answering.

The game just opened up for me after the casino and it just keeps getting better. I was such a huge fan of the original and this is everything I wanted in a sequel. I can't wait to press on and do more but I'm sad that at some point it will end.

got 'er on Steam, running a Ryzen 7 3800x and an AMD 5700xt. Runs great, 60fps locked at 1440p, probs with room to spare. Only thing PC-ey I've done is set 'dx11' as a launch option (I guess dx12 had stuttering issues)

I'm a pretty thorough player (I like to fuck about a little in the hub, as well as play levels again for collectibles) and the game's full hub world just now opened up for me at like five hours in. Longplays on YouTube seem to be ranging anywhere from 9 to 12hrs. Will probably take hella longer if you take your time like me.

really REALLY fucking loving it so far. Like, actually a lot better than the original, tbh, and I'm really fond of the original

Playing the original now for the first time, in anticipation of playing the sequel.

This game is brilliant! I can't believe I overlooked it for so many years, it's so full of variety and fun. Also gets shockingly dark at parts, Milla's secret room…. Oh my god.

Some users are experiencing the occasional stutter during gameplay, but there's already a patch en route, and if you have a non-WinStore version of the game, you can work around it in the meantime by using -DX11 as a launch argument.
