Yes seems to be the general opinionThat's probably a more appropriate description of what happened.
Regarding hardware, how bullish are the members here about the Switch? Will it break the 3DS's 25 million mark?

If Monster Hunter is launched in early 2021, alongside Switch Pro, Metroid Prime and Zelda, we could see strong hardware sales.
So, unless NSW loses steam in its 6 year, it will end up between 25 and 30 million and be the third best selling system ever in Japan.Yeah at this point. I mean NSW will either be close to or just barely surpass 3ds aligned by years end.
Look at the next few years of 3ds....
Y5: 2.189.900
Y6: 1.874.457
Y7: 1.827.131
Y8: 566.420
Y9: 191.350
NSW year 5 will be no less than 4mil which is combine sales of Y5/Y6 of 3ds.
love to see that happen, even if it means absolutely nothing given the success in the west.Famitsu Sales: Week 36, 2019 (Sep 02 - Sep 08)

I re-read that thread every quarter. Gives me a good laughSo, unless NSW loses steam in its 6 year, it will end up between 25 and 30 million and be the third best selling system ever in Japan.
Compare this to some of the reactions to the January 2017 press conference. Unbelievable.
Highly doubt it
they are, just not in japanIt's surprising, Sony usually do a really good job of squeezing sales out of superceded hardware
it won't hit 9.5m. it's already dead, basically.
edit: on the hardware front. it's not going to grow a new userbase. the existing userbase will be there to buy the new kiseki games for the next couple of years.
10./12. [NSW] eBaseball Powerful Pro Baseball 2020 <SPT> (Konami) {2020.07.09} (¥6.980) - 7.318 / 215.075 (+0%)

The only way it doesn't hit 9.5m is if Sony completely kills the shipments.
Which (conspiracy time) might not be that outlandish. Sony wants customers to transition to PS5 ASAP but PS5 is going to be expensive and JP games will continue to be on PS4 for a while. Eliminate the cheaper option to try to force customers to go for the PS5. Problem is that probably won't work.
As for Falcom there it is. (Assuming their reaction)
Old heads at Falcom must be getting a reality check sooner or later because PS5 ain't gonna bring them to new heights.
I'm struggling to see an actual strategy to the complete abandonment of Japan on the PS4 hardware front. Unless western shipments are that low also, it's unbelievable they couldn't skim a few thousand more consoles off the top for Japan.ps4 supply isn't an issue in the us at least. if they wanted to stock japan, they'd be doing that now. we can see nintendo ramping up to meet demand and sony's left the ps4 to twist in the wind. maybe it gets one last hurrah for the hoildays if ps5 skips this year in japan.

falcom's gonna live off of ps4 + ps5 skus for tokyo xana2, ys v remake, and action no kiseki. and they'll have ps5 versions of ys viii, ys ix, hajimari, etc.

Nobody is surprised. You could see the decline of the series from miles away. Why are some people in this thread expecting Hajimari to do better than Cold Steel IV? It was always going to be below.
The sales performance of Hajimari is the most obvious thing in the world. It's borderline concern trolling to think otherwise.
Do you have AquaWateria ignored?Nobody is surprised. You could see the decline of the series from miles away.
Wait, there is a ys v remake down the line?falcom's gonna live off of ps4 + ps5 skus for tokyo xana2, ys v remake, and action no kiseki. and they'll have ps5 versions of ys viii, ys ix, hajimari, etc.

Yes
The drop for Hajimari won't really matter if the next game(which starts the new arc) bounces back but that very much remains to be seen.
Falcom are probably betting on that which could definitely work, but it's still a risk.
Especially if the game takes place in Calvard with a new protagonist.
I'm not gonna argue otherwise because that's definitely how they are gonna continue with their games.
And sales are gonna continue to decrease. It'd be one thing if their games sold a lot overseas, but that isn't the case unfortunately. They get most of their sales domestically correct me if I'm wrong tho.
I remember some other places on the internet arguing with a few users who thought it would be around Wii U's lifetime sales. I've always maintained it would hit 20-30M in Japan alone. So, unless NSW loses steam in its 6 year, it will end up between 25 and 30 million and be the third best selling system ever in Japan.

Yeah, the thighs got even thiccer in the sequel.
I still refer to that thread and a few other internet articles when I gotta explain to people how much people didn't believe in the Switch lol. Legendarily bad takes in there
Yeah, Metroid Prime isn't going to move any hardware in Japan.Minus Metroid and yes. Does anyone here still believe in sub 4mil for next year in japan at this point lol
I thought it was 70% from Japan since they don't handle other asian markets themselves (Sony does the Chinese version afaik)I don't remeber the financials, but Falcom have more than 70% of their income from Asia.
Since NISA are porting AND localizing I imagine Falcom get's very little from these.
I see a trend.

As for Switch releases in the West, Falcom's logo isn't even on the front box, it's hidden in small form somewhere in the back
