1080p or 1440p?
i can attest in Gears 5 their was one area where my laptop dropped from 95ish to 60 and it was headache inducing.I'd still like to know why I was getting 120+ in DOOM with dips into the 90s randomly.
And hard locks for 20 seconds at a time.
Yeah, 90 fps is good but a 30+ fps drop is very jarring.
I bounce between PC and console depending on the game, and I cannot wait for console folks to see the light with VRR and high frame rates. The titles that are hitting 120 are going to spoil people on 60 and make 30 (finally) look choppy. All of the console-only people's revelation about 120+ FPS and NVME speeds will be something to behold for a while.
No. Law of diminishing returns. Difference from 60hz to 75hz is ten times more noticeable than 120hz to 144hz.
No. 120+ is getting into serious diminishing returns territory.
I need someone to play a game at 240fps for an hour, then immediately jump to Deadly Premonition 2 and post their findings here

Nice. I can live with thatNo. 120+ is getting into serious diminishing returns territory.
The difference between 60 and 90 is huge... the difference between 90 and 120 is smaller, but quite noticeable... but I struggle to distinguish the difference between 120 and 160 (my monitor's maximum). I think at that point it mostly becomes about response time for professional eSports competitors.
Will PS5 offer 120 FPS?
Yes, like the Xbox series line the PS5 also supports up to 120 fps.
I have a gaming pc coming ( 3080 ) , I've never had a gaming pc ever in my life and I'm kinda in a situation where im deciding if I should buy a monitor or use my c9.. any input will be appreciated
I get it for 30. It's really uncomfortable for me to play 30 now. While I get people having preferences and higher frame rates are absolutely always better I'll never understand the "BUT I CANT GO BACK" mentality, whether it's 120 to 60 or 60 to 30 etc.
Ignorance is bliss. I honestly would not discourage anyone from going this route. M/KB games pretty much need to be 90+ for me now. It's one of the reasons I'm freaking out so much about finding a 3080 before Cyberpunk.I am passing on buying a 120 FPS monitor just for this reason. If I can run a few games in 120 but others can only get locked 60, I'm worried it will make those games less enjoyable for me. I'd rather limit myself to 60 all the time just so I don't have to make a difficult decision between a) having a jarring disparity between my games, or b) having to upgrade my hardware more often to constantly maintain 120 FPS in new releases
Yeah I'm gonna have to play Control at 30fps on PC because my rig is outdated and the game is terribly optimized. It's awful to look at when moving and it feels even worse.I'll play 30fps games I won't just ignore a good game because of frame rate, but I'll tell you this, I'll hate the frame rate for the entirety of my play through of said game!!

I have it enabled to 165Hz. I guess I'm just not really sensitive to high refresh rates. How to change monitor refresh rates in Windows 10
Using the correct monitor refresh rate can help to improve your viewing experience, and in this guide, we'll show you the steps to adjust this setting in Windows 10.www.windowscentral.com
Never got this issue as well. 30/60/144 FPS doesnt really matter to me. Sure more frames and smoother gameplay is nice, but console gaming is still enjoyable.I don't really find it to be that true. I enjoy playing games like Doom Eternal at 144 Hz and then I also enjoy TLOU2 at 30 FPS on the very same screen. Sure, I notice in the first few minutes but after that the game is either good or it isn't, the FPS is just gravy on top.
Control is very well optimised it's just a next gen title out now in the current gen, and requires bleeding edge hardware to run wellYeah I'm gonna have to play Control at 30fps on PC because my rig is outdated and the game is terribly optimized. Can't wait to buy a new graphic card and a new screen. But first I need money 😭
This is the reason I'm so afraid of getting a 144hz monitor and trying out 120fps.
I won't be able to enjoy a lot of games any longer.
