I love gaming at 144 fps with Gsync, ungh.

Give me that smooth and responsive gameplay all day, every day.

All of the console-only people's revelation about 120+ FPS and NVME speeds will be something to behold for a while.

I can enjoy any game that has a stable frame rate even if it's at least locked at 30 FPS. TLoU II still has genre leading gameplay and lack of 60 does not change that.

The people who claim 30 FPS is an unplayable mess are losers that should be ignored.

I'm all about that 60 FPS though and will definitely push for that baseline. You're not going to ever find me bitching about lack of 120 FPS performance though, especially with VRR being available.

I'd still like to know why I was getting 120+ in DOOM with dips into the 90s randomly.

And hard locks for 20 seconds at a time.

Yeah, 90 fps is good but a 30+ fps drop is very jarring.
i can attest in Gears 5 their was one area where my laptop dropped from 95ish to 60 and it was headache inducing.

I bounce between PC and console depending on the game, and I cannot wait for console folks to see the light with VRR and high frame rates. The titles that are hitting 120 are going to spoil people on 60 and make 30 (finally) look choppy.

144hz GYSNC monitor with a game that hits 143fps is what every gamer needs to experience. It's so pure, it's so beautiful, it's the thing I'm always chasing.

I go back and forth between 30/60/144 regularly. Takes a few minutes to adjust.

See I can adapt pretty easily, which is great. It depends on the game though, now that I have a 3070 I can run Doom Eternal at 200fps. When that drops to about 80 it feels pretty bad, but that's cause it's so fast.

But you know what's very liberating, having a gsync/vrr screen and not caring if a game drops to 50 cause it still feels fine.

High refresh AND adaptive sync, that's the future. 30fps is fine and it's not going anywhere so don't get too unused to it.

I need someone to play a game at 240fps for an hour, then immediately jump to Deadly Premonition 2 and post their findings here

My monitor is only 120Hz. are those 24hz noticeable?
No. 120+ is getting into serious diminishing returns territory.

The difference between 60 and 90 is huge... the difference between 90 and 120 is smaller, but quite noticeable... but I struggle to distinguish the difference between 120 and 160 (my monitor's maximum). I think at that point it mostly becomes about response time for professional eSports competitors.

I think I want to just live in ignorance so that I can enjoy 30 FPS and 60 FPS console games

No. Law of diminishing returns. Difference from 60hz to 75hz is ten times more noticeable than 120hz to 144hz.

Nice. I can live with that

I still don't agree. I have a 65c9 and a 77cx. I tried 120fps on them and 144fps my computer. Nothing mind blowing.

I have a 3080 and use a lg cx and a 1440p/144fps monitor. Anything I use m+kb for I use the monitor. Anything I use a controller with I use the TV. I also have a 3080 and it's good for high framerates at 4k. 4k/120/HDR/ gsync on the OLED is eye meltingly beautiful.

Even if you don't plan on playing games with it I would get a cheap monitor anyway for dicking around on the internet, etc because personally doing that on an OLED worries me.

I experienced 120 FPS gameplay the first time over ten years ago when I played a Quake mod called Urban Terror. It's nice to have but absolutely not essential and i never have a problem going back to games with lower frame rates, even 30 FPS games are okay. Like i said it's nice but not a must have.

While I get people having preferences and higher frame rates are absolutely always better I'll never understand the "BUT I CANT GO BACK" mentality, whether it's 120 to 60 or 60 to 30 etc.
I get it for 30. It's really uncomfortable for me to play 30 now.

60 is still ok though, but preferably it's with a controller. For mouse look I really want 90+.

It's true. I didn't think the frame rates would be that crazy to look at but honestly seeing games run higher than 60 fps has been the most next gen looking thing to me. Playing nier at 120+ is crazy and monster hunter at over 90fps. I can play lower frame rate game still though but sometimes it looks choppy to me and I think my console is broken lol especially the 30 fps stuff until I get used to looking at it for a while.

i think more people would notice the difference if they played the same game on two different platforms one after the other. ive gone back and forth between the console version of some games and the pc version with higher fps and it definitely affects how you play once you get used to the higher frames. it makes it easier to aim for one and parrying and dodging becomes easier

This is why I'm in no rush to get a higher resolution monitor (currently using a 1080p 144hz). I don't really care about 4k benchmarks hitting 60 fps, I want benchmarks for hitting 120+ fps.

I am passing on buying a 120 FPS monitor just for this reason. If I can run a few games in 120 but others can only get locked 60, I'm worried it will make those games less enjoyable for me. I'd rather limit myself to 60 all the time just so I don't have to make a difficult decision between a) having a jarring disparity between my games, or b) having to upgrade my hardware more often to constantly maintain 120 FPS in all new releases

Ignorance is bliss. I honestly would not discourage anyone from going this route. M/KB games pretty much need to be 90+ for me now. It's one of the reasons I'm freaking out so much about finding a 3080 before Cyberpunk.

Luckily, controller games still feel fine at 60fps on the TV. It's just M/KB in front of a monitor that I really feel the need for 120+.

I'll play 30fps games I won't just ignore a good game because of frame rate, but I'll tell you this, I'll hate the frame rate for the entirety of my play through of said game!!
Yeah I'm gonna have to play Control at 30fps on PC because my rig is outdated and the game is terribly optimized. It's awful to look at when moving and it feels even worse.
Can't wait to buy a new graphic card and a new screen. But first I need money 😭

I think 60fps is good enough.

I'm playing doom eternal at 60fps.

I wanted to see what the fuss was all about at 120fps so I dropped my resolution until I hit 120fps and while its definitely smoother and more responsive, it's not nearly the difference between 30 and 60.

I can live with just 60fps with better graphics.

If all next gen games support 1440p@60fps and 4k@30fps, that would be a huge win. 120fps is nice, but not a must have for me.

I don't really find it to be that true. I enjoy playing games like Doom Eternal at 144 Hz and then I also enjoy TLOU2 at 30 FPS on the very same screen. Sure, I notice in the first few minutes but after that the game is either good or it isn't, the FPS is just gravy on top.
Never got this issue as well. 30/60/144 FPS doesnt really matter to me. Sure more frames and smoother gameplay is nice, but console gaming is still enjoyable.

Control is very well optimised it's just a next gen title out now in the current gen, and requires bleeding edge hardware to run well

30 to 60 FPS is like 200% increase in responsiveness. 60 to 120 feels like 20% at best.
It's neat, but not as game changing.

I've tried 120+ FPS with my C9 and my AOC 24G2 and I don't feel any difference at all except for Windows.

This is the reason I'm so afraid of getting a 144hz monitor and trying out 120fps.
I won't be able to enjoy a lot of games any longer.

don't worry, you'll still be able to go back 60fps. I mean I still enjoy 30fps games even though I prefer 60fps. 120fps is not nearly the experience that going from 30 to 60 is.

120 FPS is more than enough for me on my oled, the 24 frames can die in a fire if i have to sacrifice the excellent picture and deep blacks of an oled.
