Serious question. Does the op make these threads just to add to thread counts? We have a third of a year left going into the holiday season. It's the equivalent of asking if Nintendo is making another Mario game.

I also believe it will sell amazingly well, because it is a high quality Nintendo game that seems to be the pinnacle of the series.
But as a player, I still hope it fails, for the reasons I explain in my previous post.

Smash is going to be a monumental success, and Nintendo Online will also do incredibly well.

Hope you won't lose too much sleep over that. Pretty ridiculous thing to hope for.

Absolutely not. For a start, I do not like Smash, but that's just a matter of personal tastes. But then, I have also been quite annoyed at Nintendo for seemingly relying ONLY on this (as well as a watered-down version of Pokemon) for nearly a year (this and Wii U ports).
So yeah, I hope their strategy will fail and backfire, and I hope to have a much more diverse 2019 than 2018 was. Smash bros having disappointing result, as well as the Switch missing its target sales would please me greatly. I say that as someone who only plays on Switch and consider it the greatest piece of Hardware ever released by Nintendo.

Similarly, I hope that their online subscription service will bomb hard, because making people pay for less than basic features, and with a ridiculous number of NES games when we could have been playing the entire Nintendo catalog for the past 1 and half year is highway robbery.

I may love this company, but when I do not endorse their strategy, I hope it fails. Pretty simple reasoning.
Lucky for you Smash Bros Ultimate is gonna sell well.

They have one big game for the three last months of the year. Sorry but it is not reasonable to expect more.

Even Xenoblade Chronicles 2 got a segment in 3 different events/presentation plus a whole dedicated Direct (and is still getting coverage 1 year later thanks to the DLC). They will always push their big games, that's common sense.

I agree with this but Smash not being your cup of tea is down to you.

Dumb down Pokémon was a real dissapointment. And majority of the year from Nintendo has been nothing big. Nintendo Online is garbage, yes it's cheaper than the competition but a casual system like Switch I think it will kill online community for many games which is a shame. The lack of VC for SNES, N64, GBA and etc when we are coming into around a year and a half after release of Switch is dissapointing and not being able to transfer your Wii U and New 3DS games even for a small fee is a shame.

All in all I agree with this the lineup for this year was terrible save for a few indie games which are also available on other systems. Kirby, Mario Tennis and Mario Party are the other big games from Nintendo this year and not as exciting. Other than Octopath Traveler and Smash this year's lineup in terms of exclusives gas has been awful.

If a Nintendo Direct isn't announced in 25 minutes I'll eat (some more) ice cream.

If the next Nintendo Direct isn't any good I'll eat (some more) ice cream.

I like ice cream.

Do we know any games that are set to release next year from Nintendo?
I've been thinking about it but I can only think of stuff that doesn't have a date yet. Like Metroid and that Yoshi game.

They have 1 big game and that's about it. It's pretty underwhelming after their lackluster 2018 in terms of new games. Even more so when we take into account the fact that they supposedly have only 1 system to support.
The indie releases have been nothing short of amazing and the fact that Nintendo seems to be actively promoting them is very commendable. I hope that they will continue with this strategy. Regarding their first party output, I hope they will diversify it more in the upcoming years/months. I'm certainly not hoping for a large budget game every month, but having a constant stream of releases for smaller scope games such as Sushi Strikers or Captain Toad for example would be really nice.

I hope this direct will be specifically about that. Or with unexpected 3rd party games like Doom last year.

Why do so many people sleep on Super Mario Party? That's a big game

When people are making a point, they'll always find reasons to exclude the games that don't fit.

Indie games, more casual oriented games, AA games, games they don't like... don't exist if it contradicts their claim.

Super Mario Party is a big game and I am really excited for it. That's a multi-million seller and a great addition to the Switch library.

For real I'm a massive Fire Emblem fan and have watched the reveal trailer for Three Houses multiple times yet until reading this thread and the comments above I thought that it was an untitled Fire Emblem game for months. Completely forgot about the Three Houses subtitle lol.

Hopefully the next trailer for it reveals more about the game.

Next financial report next year will have

Super Mario Party - 3M Shipped
Pokémon Let's Go - 7M Shipped
Smash Bros. Ultimate - 11M Shipped

So yeah, they have a lot of huge games releasing. It's dumb to dismiss it.
