Thought it was going to be the adv suit from DS2. This one kinda looks like
the military suit from the army ship that crashes into the Ishimura.

On chapter 3 at the moment. The changes to the level design are pretty cool, feels familiar but fresh. I think people are going to really like the game.

Are there reports on how the PC version performs?

I might go PC on this one in the hopes it will keep its resolution as well as a steady 60+ fps. Also the cheapest price seems to be at CD Keys.

Just bought my key from CD Keys. Activation worked without issues. Downloading it with the EA App now.
Will VPN work here ? Or is the unlock time world wide the same ?

Seems like some slight stuttering problems mentioned in one review, but DF and the like seem positive on the port.

Wccftech is reporting stuttering issues on PC

Following the disastrous launch of The Callisto Protocol, fans are now apprehensive about Dead Space suffering a similar fate, especially regarding the now-infamous shader stutter

Luckily, upon launching the game for the first time, you will be greeted by a message saying 'loading shaders'. That alone immediately signaled that Motive Studios did not make the same mistake as Striking Distance Studios. However, shader stutter is not the only form of stuttering. I would really love to say that Dead Space was completely free of stutters, but that's just not true

On my configuration (Intel i7 12700KF, RTX 4090, 16GB DDR4), stutters happen on a fairly regular basis, even with DLSS 2/Super Resolution enabled. I've manually benchmarked (and captured with Shadowplay) a 14-minute-long gameplay session from the first Chapter with NVIDIA's FrameView software; as you can see from the table below, the average frame rate was very high at just over 144 FPS, but the game's minimum frame rate went as low as 15 frames per second...

It's launching at the same time globally so you can't unlock it early with a VPN.

Just played Dead Space 2 Severed for the first time. Been revisiting the series leading up to this remake. Played Dead Space 1 and 2 over the past few months. Could probably squeeze in Dead Space Mobile on Vita before tomorrow as it's pretty short.
Sorry Dead Space 3, I just didn't set aside enough time to replay it or finally play the Awakened DLC. I have nothing against the game and I'm not letting the negativity stop me from eventually playing it.

I found a few YouTubers who reviewed the PC port and said it ran really well and seemed polished. One of them was that YongYea guy that I believe is banned here so I won't link it. However, I would wait and see what DF says. Hopefully someone will turn on the Alex Battaglia bat signal.

Aw man, I thought it was going to be the suit from Dead Space 2. I'm not a fan of that design at all, at least within the context of Dead Space.

I guess it's also a good thing it isn't the one from DS2, since that suit design is something I really associate with that game and seeing it remade is going to be awesome when they do the sequel to this.

Interested to see how the HDR looks. I've only played a tiny bit of Dead Space 1 &2 on a Series X to try out the Auto-HDR and I thought it helped immensly for the intros.

note: I beat Dead Space 1 way back when it was released. Never got around to 2, though (it's on my list).

Isaac's suit is like the ideal high-budget cosplay costume I would 100% buy or make if I had the money or skill to do so. I think he and Jill Valentine may well be tied as my favorite horror characters period.

Hmm, like the suit, less keen on the helmet. Would have preferred the suit from DS2 but this is still cool.

8 chapters in and I love it. This game made me realize just how tired I am of open world games and bloated game design. I need more super linear games like this, just go from location to location, clear room after room (with a little backtracking here and there), progress the story and have a blast while doing so. Fantastic.

Yep, and apparently production went incredibly smoothly all things considered. Makes me very hopeful that we'll see more DS games moving forward, especially now that there's a modern framework in place.

fingers crossed that this game sells a lot and it makes EA pour more money into traditional non-GaaS games like this.

and yes I want remakes of 2 AND 3. Especially 3. Give that game a thorough reimagining that makes it good. Rewrite the story completely if you have to, I don't care. Just release a game called "Dead Space 3" that is unapologetically great.

I really liked the dystopian ending of 3 and the Lovecraftian stuff it gets into late game but yeah they need to undo a LOT of character assassination and change a metric ton of the early-mid game to make it better. DS3 is like the one thing that keeps me from elevating the Dead Space trilogy over even some of my favorite RE games. If they had stopped at 2, it wouldn't even be a question.

Story time:

Couple of months before the OG Dead Space came out I went to a small sci-fi convention and in the middle of the floor was an ominous black cube.

As I got closer I could see the staff outside were wearing t-shirts with the spinal health bar on the back.

I approached and just asked "Dead Space?" and before I knew it I was beckoned inside to a pitch black room. A few hushed moments passed and this crackled to life on a screen that took up an entire wall:

After it was over a door opened and a fully suited Isaac Clarke appeared and led me inside a second room where another staff member walked me through a playable combat scenario that was not in the base game.

When it was all over they handed me this art book that I fished out today:

Does the performance mode support unlocked VRR with up to 120 Hz on PS5? I heard that the patch unlocked the framerate in quality mode.

Any word on whether or not this will have an EA Play trial? I can't remember an EA game ever not having one, but 10 hours is probably long enough to finish the damn thing.
