In retrospect- Biden probably was the best candidate we could have had in order to win this- Kamala Harris as VP MIGHT have been a mistake- because they managed to pretty successfully portray her as a socialist trap. Biden might have better went with Buttigieg, truthfully, as a fellow centrist. (though no telling how some of the wack jobs have have reacted to a gay man, so there's that).

Is Kamala generally more left than Biden? I feel like I know less about her than I should, but every time I learn something about her it seems like she's pretty centrist (and based on the left's general reaction to her being picked, not even close to being "more left than Bernie Sanders" lmao)

In the case of neither of them reaching 270, and with Trump way below Biden in what votes they do have, what would happen?

Trump wins.

The House picks the president. Each state's representatives vote as a solid block and each state gets one vote.

There's more Republican states then Democrats, so Trump wins.

The Senate picks the VP. The Republicans have the majority, so Pence wins.

All hell breaks loose in the country.

Here's the procedures.

Yeah, the people of ERA aren't going to like hearing a lot of this, but a lot of this election is a referendum on far left progressive politics (or at least the perspective of it that Trump and Company has been successfully selling - and honestly, its always been that way and not that tough of a sell). As a whole country, we are centrist at best (and maybe even right of that).

In retrospect- Biden probably was the best candidate we could have had in order to win this- Kamala Harris as VP MIGHT have been a mistake- because they managed to pretty successfully portray her as a socialist trap. Regardless, assuming Biden wins and doesn't seek re-election and if I were the Democratic Party braintrust, I'd do a rigorous open primary for our next candidate and not just automatically back & push her as an establishment candidate (like Hillary). And don't get me wrong, I don't dislike Kamala Harris (and she may very well win said primary). But I worry if she is pushed as the foregone conclusion in four years.
That isn't what I'm saying at all. I don't buy that we are necessaruly so centrist, the policies poll very well independent of label, it's branding, moreso than an actual aversion to progressive policy. Now granted there is an aversion to progressive SOCIAL policy in wide swaths of the electorate, but we aren't just going to stop fighting for social equality. Something like abortion or gay marraige loses you alot more voters than Universal Healtcare or Free college, but it's still right to fight for both, and you aren't going to gain alot of voters by espousing conservative economics. Florida passed a 15 dollar minimum wage after all.

Finland here, why is this sooooo slow, like Zootopia sloths counting votes there or what

a) Some states like PA were not allowed by Republican to count mail in ballot before election day
b) This year is a ridiculous number of turn out that most State don't have the infrastructure to count quick + COVID procedures
c) Most of the ballots this year are paper ballots due to mail in. Allot of States normally use touch screen. Bonus, paper ballots leave a paper trail, making it harder to fudge the numbers. This is important in state like Georgia where voter suppression tactics usually work
d) Our system is archaic and still stepped in procedure to keep voting hard for anyone but rich people

so theres 140k ish mail ins just from Philly that are yet to be coiunted. If the 65% Biden mail in ratio holds, he could almost eat up the lead just with Philly.

Just a waiting game now, which heavily favours Biden too. Not a bad set of circumstances at all. My eyes are on Georgia but it's just a matter of patience now.

For those who haven't had any rest, might as well rest up now and do the normal day to day shit you might've put off.

Nothing major is going to happen until later on. You can step away for the forum and Twitter and get some sleep. Slept for the first time properly in 2 days and came back to what it was like yesterday here in the U.K.thats how long it's just going to take.

I feel like this is the scene in Jurassic Park where the dude is like SHOOOOOT HERRRR where the velociraptor is Trump, the dude being dragged is America, and the bullet is one of these deciding states

The reason she's portrayed as leftist to the max is that her voting record is technically to the left of Bernie. Which is enough proof to people paranoid about that.

Trump will never concede. He is going to fight the results for months and they're going to have to drag him out of the White House kicking as screaming come January. He will refuse to be present at the inauguration and I expect he won't do what presidents usually do and offer advice to their successor, either.

Biden will then pardon any federal charges against Trump as an olive branch in an attempt to prevent any riots, then Trump's gonna sue every single state with criminal charges against him and try to bully them into dropping those charges.

With what cash?

The blue states (hell even some GOP states!) HATE Trump and NY looks like they have charges ready to go. What bullying can he do? He's got no political power. He's going to send his flag waving followers to NYC to kill the AG?

Biden will have to pardon because his whole thing is healing. But the Fed charges died effectively with impeachment; its the local shit he's afraid of. And at the end of the day being so deep in debt, I dunno if the Trump donation machine can keep him afloat

Anything to calm my mind about Nevada?

Everything that's left to count are mail ballots? Those lean Dem (but Nevada sent them to all)

So what's up with AZ? Know the gap was closing last night, but that it wasn't closing by enough to give fuckface much of a chance of making up the gap. That still where we stand?

The Cyclone State
NYT
" After saying earlier this AM there are fewer than 25K absentee ballots left, Georgia's secretary of state has corrected the number to the same count the data shows: About 50K left. That doesn't include provisionals, military and overseas ballots & ballots that are cured "
