I have to separate this one because what in the fuck.
What the FUCK
The episode's title makes sense.
"IT GOT IN MY EYES" 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Satoru Noda started a manga, won a bunch of awards, got a ton of praise for his accurate and super thoughtful depiction of the Ainu people, and really just took that as permission to write whatever the hell he wanted lmao

I can't help but wonder what kind of conversation he had with his editor when he turned in this chapter

The editor probably wasn't even phased considering Noda's always absurd answers to the weekly Q&A in Young Jump:

Oh boy, and people think fan shipping can get bad, I think I just found one of the worse cases of anime staff shipping screwing over a character in an adaption(tho that character did win in the end). Had heard about it previously but didn't realize it was this bad. So the OG Kinnikuman anime, early on 2 love interests are introduced for the lead(well kinda. One was always more into his rival, who she winds up with in the old sequel timeline), anyways in the manga they both more or less disappear(one's a reporter so she hangs around in the background a bit) around the third arc when the lead heroine arrives. Cept in the anime the gags and comedy are more fleshed out so they kept everyone around… but then cut the third lead's intro story(which was plot important), replaced her roles with the other two(mainly the reporter), in almost every major arc following, limiting the third to a couple combat plots and they even tried to ship her with 2 other characters. This gets especially ridiculous considering the manga ends with the lead marrying the third character. They kind of glaze it over in the second anime that covers the last arc.

On a different note apparently this just got announced

Technically wouldn't be the first time, and i guess the reasoning is actually the same, looks like the new season involves Shinobu mainly, and Maya Sakamoto don't sing anime songs , so this time they had to go for YOASOBI instead

But Shinobu at least doesn't appear in Oroka (the main protag for the first book are Sodachi, Kanbaru and Tsukihi), so the only option would be Wazamonogatari (in Off Season) or just until Monster Season (but that is far off).

Another possibility is that Yoasobi song is for the Ending...

They're finally together! Aya isn't a team player tho lol.
I really gotta stop watching this and Dungeon Meshi back to back because I be sooo hungry afterwards lol

Wind Breaker 05
Suo already had the eyepatch, but now he's stolen Majima's Thug style. All I could think about when he was humiliating this dude was "THROW THE DAMN TOWEL!"

Dope ass episode, really good animation. Really curious to see what Mikey Choji can do.

Salad Bowl 05
"Asshair ripper" wtf lmaooo
Sara's karaoke bit was amazing, especially the western style animation.

Wasn't expecting this show to have a strong opinion on scalpers but I ain't complaining. Fuck scalpers, all my homies hate scalpers. Livia, stop being so stubborn and just live with them.

Golden Kamuy 49 S4 END
Thank GOD, I can finally trust Shiraishi. I was always worried that he would betray them at the WORST possible time.

What an absolute fucking blast this show was, man. Some hype moments, some heartwarming moments, a looooot of funny ass moments, some wtf moments (episode 48 traumatized me). I caught up too damn fast, now I gotta wait for season 5 like the rest of you 😒

This is an actual possibility now that i look at it, it's only refereed to as "Theme Song", same as previous seasons theme songs which were Endings

Tower of God complete

I know this got mixed receptions from the source readers, but I really liked it. The whole season was pretty much just an exam arc, but I do love me some exam arcs, so I didn't mind. The mystery surrounding the various aspects of the tower are interesting, and the characters, while not especially unique, are likeable enough. Also really loved the unique art style, and I'm sad that they're going with a more generic one for season 2.

Grimm Variations complete

A bit of a mixed bag, but overall I enjoyed it, even if I didn't quite understand a lot of things and had to look up analyses lol. Episode 1, 2 and 5 are the weakest imo, but I really liked 3, 4 and 6.
1 was just a pretty standard "what if Cinderella was the evil one" story, 2 was pretty much a Black Mirror episode, albeit not a very good one, 3 had a nice twist that I didn't see coming, 4 was the most tame one, but probably the easiest to resonate with, 5 played the Bremen story fairly straight, although set in a Trigun-like universe, and 6 was just overall great, although it didn't have a whole much to do with the Pied Piper of Hameln.

Great production values, and the CLAMP designs are as great as always. Would definitely recommend checking it out.

I'm so happy the Monogatari anime is returning. I hope Kodansha Books (formerly Vertical) continues the novels. They only released up to Zoku Owari in English. Hopefully this is a good sign:

Speaking of the novels, I still need to read volumes 2 and 3 of Owari as well as Zoku Owari. Then I need to rewatch the whole anime. Should probably read the Bakemonogatari manga too lol.

I wouldn't wait on them to do it. If you want to be caught up before the Off Season anime begins airing, you have two months to watch everything. More than enough time, but it's better to start now. I don't recommend binging this show. 1-2 arcs a day at most depending on number of episodes. You don't have enough time to do 1 episode a day.

It's all good. If they're not gonna make it easy for me to watch, I'm just not gonna watch it, simple as that.

Dungeon Meshi - 01 - 12

At this point, anime with a focus on cooking really are dreadfully boring for the most part. Fantasy food that you couldn't have IRL loses its flavor even faster, perhaps. But reading between the lines of some comments, it probably wouldn't be just some episodic cooking show. So with the help of Laios being an interestingly rare weirdo protagonist and some solid art and animation, I made it past the first couple of episodes eventually.

And yeah, there is more to it and I'm liking it more and more. The "endless(ish) dungeon" setting isn't half bad and the characters got a decent bit of development thus far. Some side plots like the painting-divings were neat and the comedy seems to get better, too. The frog suits made me laugh out loud. Then there's the rather contrasting imagery with realistic food prep (so, no shortage of blood, monsters being skinned, and so forth) or combat "gore".

Above all, I'm impressed that just 13 episodes the actual primary goal of our protagonists was successfully dealt with. They seriously found the dragon. Killed it. Found Falin's remains inside (not shying away from the bloodier imagery, again) and just as it seemed a sub-quest search for some super healer may be about to start, Marcille steps in and just does it herself. 👏

I almost can't believe that, with how rare it is. The next major plot points aren't really known yet and will have to develop somewhat naturally throughout the next episodes and I love that. Sure, we got a small cliffhanger with this Griffith-at-home (best I'm #51230 to make that reference) from the paintings, but that's nothing major yet and has a good bit of intrigue. Really, it's a tactful episode ending, rather than some "AND NOW, THE MAJOR TWIST!" thrown in half-heartedly.

I don't often complain about covers for animes or whatever, but fuck these assholes for this cover. Yes it has ecchi, but they make it seem like it's straight porn. Unnecessary and pretty fucking disgusting.

Dragonar Academy - The Complete Series - Limited Edition - Blu-ray + DVD

Ash Blake is nothing but a joke to his fellow students at Ansullivan Dragonar Academy. Sure, he’s got the sacred star brand that marks him as a future master of dragons, but he’s having more than a little trouble playing the part of a hero. At least until the day his dragon suddenly awakens.

Yakuza's Guide to Babysitting 4-6
Okay, I think I'm beginning to see why people were lukewarm on this one. It's still cute but it doesn't really feel like it's taking advantage of its premise. I just don't really believe Kirishima is a big-time yakuza enforcer. In fact, I don't really believe ANY of these people are yakuza. Like you could tell me the show's just about an eccentric businessman and his lackey turning into his kid's babysitter, and a lot of the show would remain the same, you'd just lose all the parts where people beat each other up (which is, what, two or three scenes so far?).

Also I think the way Kirishima and Yaeka become so close basically immediately does a disservice to Yaeka's aunt, who is apparently the shittiest surrogate parent ever because it just takes a few days of Kirishima being nice to Yaeka for her to open up to other people, make new friends, and just generally become a happier person. And yet her aunt seems... totally fine and not at all terrible, to Yaeka or anyone else. What gives?

One of the nice things about watching Sweetness and Lightning was that the father-daughter duo there run into actual issues that then need to be resolved, usually with tears and hugs. People talk about this being a sort of spiritual companion to Spy X Family, and that's a show full of misunderstandings and attempts at reconciliation and understanding, even if 95% of the time the misunderstandings are really minor and trivial. I think I wanted to see more of that here, an actual relationship developing between the two main characters as they navigate the stormy waters of single parenthood (setting aside for the moment that Yaeka has her actual dad as well). What I feel like I'm getting so far in this show instead is shorthand. We skipped over all the tumultuous stuff and Kirishima and Yaeka are just having a good time now. It's weird.

Ufff... July can't come soon... probably gonna do a marathon in June for the anime and start reading the books again (had left in Hanamonogatari... and considering the fan translations are up to Shinomonogatari it would be a nice back in form).

Edit:... visiting MAL, the vTuber anime (vTuber Legend) is also slated for July?... oh SHIT... Summer is gonna be so good... xD
Kinnikuman and Grendizer too! And some other fun adaptions

hilarious

The drama with Shuro felt a tad bit overwrought and it's a bit sad to see others leave the dungeon so often, as another core character really wouldn't hurt now, but those are nitpicks at worst. The shapeshifter mimics in the last episode were another high point. Really, it's basically been a good slow burn at this point. Few downright bombastic episodes, but the show gradually builds up on the characterization and team dynamics, all while remaining fairly consistent, which is a must-have for me. So now it's just that much funnier when Senshi has strange reactions to magic or everyone raising their eyebrows at Laios occasionally acts of weirdness—because it feels true to their character.

I'm 3 episodes in A Condition Called Love, but have they been trying to endear us to Hananoi?
Cause, if they have, it certainly hasn't been working, and I'm still super scared for Hotaru...
