The lack of blood actually has nothing to do with TV standards or the time slot, in fact the show currently airing in that time slot has had much more graphic scenes. Super is made with a worldwide audience in mind, so they limit the amount of blood to make it an easier sell to companies in other countries.
Hilariously enough they didn't tell the staff to not have characters get stabbed or have holes blown through them, because that shit happens a lot in Super.
