I don't fault most people fearing the worst given the location and a holiday, but journos continue to disappoint.
More specifically, Fox News and other right wing rags. They aren't even journalists. 10-20 years ago, Fox being so wrong would be very embarrassing for them, but now it's what they do, they've mastered just moving on to the next piece of bullshit when it's too obvious they're full of shit.

So looks so angry saying it wasn't terrorism, and the irony of plugging a piece on misinformation

when you think about it, the fact I believed it was a terrorist attack and started speculating wildly says more about my enemies than me

was sent to twitter and saw 108k post trending with the tag "Terrorist attack "it's insane how quickly people just assume something then roll with it and once the damage is done it's already too late even worse with outlets like Fox never owning up to it and just tossing the blame on something utterly unrelated

It's kind of crazy that someone posted a Fox tweet here that said it was a terrorist attack. Why platform that trash? Their lack of integrity is a known quantity at this point.

So it really was a car fire after all. Just one that happened at 100+mph along with a horrific collision that ripped the car to pieces and make Fox News go brrr.

Not sure we'll ever find out what happened.

Just a reminder that after the Quebec City Mosque shooting in Jan 2017, Fox News "reported" / published rando misinfo that the shooter was a Moroccan dude. It would later be confirmed the shooter was a French Canadian Trump / LePen supporter. Even after this confirmation, Sean Spicer (Donald's first press secretary) would use the shooting to justify Donald's Muslim ban.

Fox News deletes false Québec shooting tweet after Canadian PM's office steps in

Justin Trudeau’s aide says US network claim that mosque attack suspect was of Moroccan origin ‘spread misinformation … and perpetuates fear and division’

Quebec Mosque Shooter Suspect Showed Support for President Trump Online

He also supported French nationalist Marine Le Pen and criticized refugees

The White House cited the Quebec mosque attack to justify Trump’s policies

“It’s a terrible reminder of why we must remain vigilant, and why the president is taking steps to be proactive, rather than reactive,” said White House press secretary Sean Spicer on Monday.

People who should know better uncritically quoting Fox News coverage of events like this is certainly something.

Based on the video it looks like they were speeding in the rain, and when taking the corner drifted into the spot where the shoulder transitions into a barrier.

Investigators have determined that the incident was not terror-related and they found no explosive devices, according to a law enforcement official, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss an open investigation. The driver was believed to be a casino player who frequently crossed the U.S.-Canadian border and had no criminal history, the official said. He and his passenger were thought to be Americans.

It must fucking suck for the families of the deceased that their dead loved ones are going to be remembered as right wing narrative fuel against their will.

absolutely fucked up. The right wing media is wretched as we all know, but Fox News in particular is responsible for so much fucked up shit over the past 20-plus years in America and they'll just constantly get away with the lies/disinformation all just to incite more undue hatred by their idiot Fox/MAGA cult.

They were PRAYING for it to be a terror attack. And we wonder why crazies are shooting uber drivers in the head because they seem suspicious.

EVERYBODY, QUICK, PANIC, EVERYDAY.

The Fox News motto.

So banning people from coming into our country will prevent terrorist attacks but banning guns wont do anything to stop mass shootings according to these sociopaths.

Got it.

Remember they still think if you have a gun, you are basically Rambo.

Had this typed out and sitting in the drafts, but the news has since changed. For the hell of it, I'm posting it anyway (with additions)

Oh I don't doubt that, but is there some contingent of anti-American Canadian terrorists we gotta worry about? Like, if that's the case, sorry for all the "eh?" and bagged milked jokes.
The founder of the Proud Boys is Canadian. Wouldn't put it past this godforsaken country to have some (other) terrorist cells in it.

(edited to add:)

That said, conservative pundits are the canary in the coal mine when it comes to this shit. In hindsight, if Fox News was claiming this was a terrorist attack, it should have been clear from the jump that it was an accident.
