Okay so this explains the damage. The way they were talking at the beginning made it sound like the car was stationary when it exploded which couldn't be explained by a simple fuel tank explosion.
100mph into a concrete barrier will shatter a car just like an explosion would though. So that makes sense.

It would later be confirmed the shooter was a French Canadian Trump / LePen supporter. Even after this confirmation, Sean Spicer (Donald's first press secretary) would use the shooting to justify Donald's Muslim ban.

That said, conservative pundits are the canary in the coal mine when it comes to this shit. In hindsight, if Fox News was claiming this was a terrorist attack, it should have been clear from the jump that it was an accident.
