Cable management in the days before modular psus was literal garbage hell. Finding a spot to shove all that shit but knowing it's still there, killing your airflow.
Never had any issues with IO shields.
Cut myself pretty badly several times though when assembling a PC inside a cheap / badly designed case. This shit is annoying.
IO shield = align to case, push lightly and you're done. If this fails, just leave it?IO shields suck but I'll take fitting an IO shield over installing a Coolermaster Hyper 212 any day of the week.
Some MBs include adapters which solve this issue:
Building your own PC actually sucks. I'm dreading it nowadays. The worst part is when you painstakingly assemble it, press the power button and nothing happens.
Oh now sure, it's a cakewalk
Oh man had one of these in the last build I did. I feel you buddy, though it is a nice heatsink. Next best thing after liquid cooling!
This is the worst part. Putting these tiny plugs onto tinier pins in a tight case.
I'm definitely eyeing a mobo with an integrated IO Shield as my next upgrade, but that's also a side benefit of getting a higher end board in general.Integrated IO shield is a godsend.
Then again I just built my new PC a month ago and I have zero problem with IO shield.
