If they're easily removable, people will remove them completely and overheat their consoles...

Hopefully they are removable, as the white is so garish that I'd never buy one. I don't think those pics confirm or deny it.

The hooks on the side of the panel look like the same to similar mechanism that was on the og ps3.
That panel wasn't difficult to take off at all.

Pretty much every component of the PS5 is made in China:
  • APU Fabrication - TSMC
  • Silicon Packaging - ASE Technology
  • Silicon Packaging - Siliconeware Precision Industries
  • Handle Controller Chips - ZillTek Technology
  • Handle Controller Chips - AAC Technologies
  • MCUs - Nuvoton Technology
  • USB Hub Controllers - Genesys Logic
  • USB Hub Controllers - Greatek Electronics
  • SSD Controller - Phison Electronics
  • SSD Controller Packaging - OSE
When Sony talked about the PS5 automation plant(s?) that's been established in Japan, I assume they meant assembly-line only?

that'd be pretty cool.

Seeing that cover off makes the console seem even bigger somehow. That is some thicc plastic.

Oil is easily removable from your car with 1 bolt, doesn't mean people drive without oil.

I remember seeing people say Sony'll go all out with the faceplate customization with the PS4, but that ended up being only with 3rd-party and pretty limited at that

Why so thick? If it's a cosmetic cover it doesn't need to be so thick. Structural but it does look clip on. So confusing

So Japan is using what paper format on printers? A4? Letter?

Probably A4.
As you can see, the forum is Chinese and the guy in the leaked photos is probably a Chinese guy in a Chinese factory. Keeping extremely long finger nails is a somewhat strange practice among Chinese people.

I remember buying and reselling faceplates at a time and they came in very nice excluuusive pianoblack carton cases with silverprinted PS4 logo on if I remember correctly.

If it's easy to swap, some company would probably make a plate that doesn't look like a popped collar lol.

The controller looks like it has some parts that can be swapped too.

I don't understand this thread at all. Because the white panel is a separate piece during the assembly process, that means it's "swappable"? By that logic every console shell is designed to be "swappable."

This looks like how you can unclip and remove the whole top shell of the PS4 Pro, to get to the insides.

Yo, the console looks massive! I can see some people completely removing the plates just to make the console fit in the media center. xD

Why are you including Taiwan as part of China?

Still being produced in China.

:/

Really a pity. There are so many other underdeveloped countries that they could produce these devices with extremely cheap labor and that they would not bother to retain technology for them, threatening Western economic superiority ...

But Sony insists on producing in these communist countries that do not understand their place in the value chains only as suppliers of labor.

I wonder when we will solve this problem and finally have cheap production, an affordable sale price in the West, total control over technology and certainty that the post-war world is not threatened.

I think that's why they can sell the PS5 for 399. Black plates will sell like crazy with profit :)

Yeah I don't actually see what about these photos makes people think it means there'll be faceplates.
I just want to believe.

I'm guessing someone will make them. You can buy them for PS4.

But I don't think is evidence of official swapable/custom faceplate support or anything. This is just exactly the same as how the PS4 'faceplate' works. An easy way to access the innards.
