EDIT: I get many of you guys who don't agree with my logic, but please don't attack me personally. This is my first post here and I didn't really made it clear what I meant, I'm sorry for that. I didn't want to start a console war even if I should've known that this post would do exactly that.
Let me explain: of course I would recommend other platforms as well, if there were friends of mine who would enjoy these. However, all the people I know from University travel a lot and they aren't familiar with gaming/technological stuff overall. I didn't specify this, and that's why this post does sound incredibly silly. All I wanted to do was to spread some positive vibes on this console which is perfect for people who travel a lot, don't want to spend much time on making system updates and installing games and people who like the pick-up-and-play thing.
Many seem to criticize my point about 3rd party support, but here as well I wasn't clear enough: of course, these titles are old and they don't run best on this console. But it's the ONLY way to play all these games on the go. Having them on the platform is not something special of course, but being able to play them anywhere is, and this enabled me as a person who commutes to check out many new games. The example with Black Flag doesn't seem consistent at first, but it's the AC I enjoyed most and for me the series didn't really get better after that (however that's a super personal opinion and stating that without context was a really bad idea by me. Again, sorry for that).
I'm glad that many of you pointed out all these goofy things about this post, because now I realize that its not very precise and it sounds like I was payed by Nintendo. In fact, I just thought it would be great to highlight some of the things I really like about the system, but that might not be very suitable for a forum like this, at least not in the way I did it. I must say though, some of the answers I got here we're quite irritating.
This is the original post, unedited:
As gaming becomes more and more popular, many friends of mine (mostly from University) ask my advice on what console they should buy. At the moment, its very hard for me to recommend anything but the Switch. Even with all the Wii U ports and re-releases and some anti-consumer behavior from Nintendo, it's hard to argue that no console is more versatile and has a richer line-up of games at the moment. I value its Hybrid nature, its simplicity, the low price for Nintendo Switch Online but most importantly the games line-up. Two things about the Line-Up are important to me:
1st party offering
For nearly every big Nintendo franchise, the Switch release is either the most refined, the biggest or just the best iteration (Smash, Mario Maker, Luigi's Mansion, Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart, Donkey Kong) with tons of promising stuff coming (Zelda Sequel, Metroid etc). There's a big 3D Mario game (Odyssey) and many other to play within 3D All-Stars, and we'll get a stellar Wii U title with a very interesting add-on soon (3D World + Bowsers Fury). Of course, there's still a lot to come, but the 1st party line-up is stellar so far and we're probably only a little more than half way though its life.
3rd party offering
In addition to that, the Switch is becoming the place to play many of the best titles released within the last decade + you can play them on the go. There's one of the best Assassins Creed titles (Black Flag) and other fan-favorites, but most importantly all the interesting indie titles that people love (Inside, Abzu, Little Nightmares, Edith Finch etc.).
