I can only assume so.

Man, that's kind of odd to me. It's been 10 days nows, maybe after the holiday today in the US I'll hear something about it this week.Nope, no communication at all. I received communication via email that they were returning my replacement device- after roughly 7 business days (10 days including weekends).
It's just them covering their ass. Use an SSD that's fits and stick the shielding on it and you'll be fine.I watched the valve tear down of the deck and they warned depending what ssd you put in it that it could cause over heating, more battery drain, and interference with wireless
What SSD's are safe and won't cause all 3 of these things
I would darn well try lol
Stellaris isn't desperate, as I can play it on console still, but the idea of having all these rich sci-fi experiences in a portable is just too good to pass up.
This is a raffle that will expire in 12 hours. The winner will be drawn at random! Any prizes leftover after the deadline will become available on a first-come first-serve basis.

Really? Most computers let you upgrade the storage without voiding the warranty.
Oh I may have been hasty, reading around suggests "as long as you don't break something while it's open your warranty is still good", so replacing the SSD doesn't void the warranty but if you break your deck doing so you're out of luck.Really? Please report back how ballisticNG does, far as I'm aware that hasn't been reviewed yetMy Steam Deck in now on the vehicle for delivery. Been watching this tracking page like a hawk lol. First Games I'm going to play/download are
- Elden Ring (been playing on PC but going to finish it on deck)
- BallisticNG
- Redout
- Test our some emulator stuff.
It runs great, either native Linux or through Proton. Please report back how ballisticNG does, far as I'm aware that hasn't been reviewed yet
Yeah replacing drives in devices is super common, I would have been surprised if it affected the warranty.Oh I may have been hasty, reading around suggests "as long as you don't break something while it's open your warranty is still good", so replacing the SSD doesn't void the warranty but if you break your deck doing so you're out of luck.
1. My friend got the 512 and I got the 64. The only thing outside of storage you get on the 512 is the anti reflective etched glass screen. I didn't like it when I saw it on my friend's console. But to each is own.Hey folks. Just got my email that I can finally purchase a 512GB. It's been that long since I pre-ordered it, I kind of forgot everything tbh.
Couple of questions, if y'all wouldn't mind.
Money isn't super tight right now but I am in the process of buying a flat (something I didn't expect when I preordered) so I'm not sure if I'll end up using it. If it was a little cheaper I'd be more likely to buy it but I don't know when I'll get the chance again.
- Is the 512GB worth it over the smaller versions?
- Does it have any resale value right now?
The 512GB is worth it if you're not planning on replacing the SSD. The screen is also slightly better - I can't really tell a quality difference between my 512GB and my brother's 256GB (I'd just say any differences were manufacturing variances if I didn't know the screens were different) but the glare is much better with the anti-glare screen.Hey folks. After using the Steam Deck for a couple of months my thoughts go like this:
Before Steam Deck:
Do I really need a Steam Deck? I have a gaming computer already. The games doesn't magically become more fun to play on the Deck. I like portable devices, but it looks pretty heavy.
After Steam Deck:
Do I really need a gaming computer?
Does anyone know anything about this fan? Just wondering if the iFixit fan is much more quiet. I hear this one sometimes but can't say it bothers me that much.
This is so true. I haven't touched my gaming PC (for gaming) since I got the Deck...and that's with a 3080.After using the Steam Deck for a couple of months my thoughts go like this:

After they release the Dock I think I will use the computer even less. Of course there's some games that still need a bit more power to run well.
My biggest wish for a new Steam deck is better cpu and bigger screen. I'm pretty happy with it otherwise.
I played doom just now and I could barely hear it on the latest update. But when I update a game in steam itself its absolutely insane how noisy it gets. Very weird? Do you control the new fan curve at all or is just toggling it on under system enough? That's the Delta (high pitched one). If it's not bothering you much then I wouldn't worry.
Anyone been using Yuzu? It runs great, but if I ever try to Exit from it, or put my Steam Deck into sleep mode, it freezes. The only way to get out of it seems to be to do a hard shutdown of the whole Steam Deck.

Anyone with a good fan I am really curious how updating a game sounds.
Assuming you installed Yuzu via EmuDeck, use the Start + Select button combination ("Options" + "View" buttons in the upper right/left) to exit a game. For sleep mode, you need to pause the game using Select + "B" button before entering the Deck's sleep mode. Unpause with the same hotkey once you're ready to resume. You have to, from experience, go back to the 'Library' version of the game/emu on the OS itself, then click the X next to play a few times. It's a bit cumbersome, but that tends to work.
Thank you! So I've been playing doom 2016 on the deck and despite running it with vulkan and putting the settings at medium the frame rate is very unstable.
Jumping from 30 to 60 all over the place.
It's odd because I've heard people saying it runs smooth as butter with vulkan.
How do I do that without losing my progress?Wipe your savegames and config, that's the only way I fixed this issue.
Just curious does the Deck play God of War PC (2022) and if so how good? I just started it on PC and just ordered my Deck. Thank you.
Using emudeck - I'm trying to apply a basic CRT shader for SNES games and it just... won't save? I've tried each of the override options - game, directory and core, but no matter what I do, it just won't be there the next time I launch.
Disabling the border overlays and then saving the override does work, so I'm not sure what's going on? Does anyone know how to make the shader settings stay put? Most other settings stay put - for example I've enabled GBA colour correction and interframe blending and the overrides are fine there. But shaders? Can't change them.
Where is the global setting? Overrides menu in quick menu on has core/game/directory.Did you try global? My CRT shaderr settings don't save for MAME, but work for other systems. I've done saves for system override, global overrides, but MAME is like... "Eh, I'm good without it." To me, it's par for the course with Retroarch. It's the most feature rich so you need to use it, but it does what it wants, when it wants. And deal with it.

Nope, this has been the white whale for me - I was in the very first shipment and have spent many hours trying to get this game to run but it won't. Literally one person on Reddit says that he did but his details were unclear. Also anyone able to launch THPS1+2 through Epic? I got it installed and launch it, never gets past the intro videos on Proton GE. Had a pretty crazy lock up trying! Completely stopped reading my SD card before restarting!
