I saw it today and I really liked it. They finally turned Luke into a character and not some goody-two shoes golden boy. Outside of some contrivances that I'll let slide because it's a Star Wars film, the only sequence I didn't like was the casino part. It seemed like it existed purely to get some character/relationship development in and its message was a bit overstated. There was a payoff towards the end, I suppose but it doesn't really redeem it. The choreography of the Elite Guard battle was a bit rubbish too; super-trained fighters who suddenly lose the will to fight at random moments.
Mark Hamill blew me away with his acting too, I was not expecting that from him.
