I am so sick of Guardian Ape. Even if I get to his second half I just don't understand his moveset enough to get through the fight. The flailing, indiscriminate slash attacks are impossible to parse. Why did they have to make THIS boss mandatory for progression?
One of the best bosses theyve ever made, hands down. His second form really isn't too bad if you figure out how to defend against the scream. Even with his weird slithering around his tells for when hes actually going to attack aren't too bad.
UM. So. Uh. Morrigan, I dunno if you saw this yet, but...
In the room after the Corrupted Monk, in front of the altar where you get the Shelter stone...the ground is carpeted in Phantasm slugs from Bloodborne.
Without telling me the specifics, is the Headless boss I ran into in the cave that causes me to move slowly something I need an item for to offset that effect? Or is that just the gimmick of the fight?
I'm so close to the end now. Breaking my sanity on
Demon of Hatred optional boss
before moving on to the final boss. This thing is seriously hard.
Loving this game so far. I think it might be their best game yet. My only gripes have been the lock on randomly disengaging coupled with some camera issues, and for all the hitbox porn in the game, there's serious hitbox gore as well.
Also, playing it on pc with the unlocked framerate mod is pure joy.

Don't give up.
Did you beat Lady Butterfly yet? The boss attack boff from her made it more manageable for me.
Be aggressive, llet himpull out his bow as few times as possible.
When he transforms into his second form you can immediately mikiri his lunging attack that always comes out first. He's way more prone to posture damage since he doesn't have his armor anymore, the fight won't go that much l
It really is a bitch lol. Also to your other question, no you didn't miss it.
You can skip it however, depending on a decision you have to make. I also find it wird they put the illusion first, doesn't make much sense to me.
Got through the boss I posted about, after about halfway through my attempts I really started to hone in the parry mechanic due to practically memorizing his patterns. Got really aggressive in my later attempts and that was basically the only way to beat him. Once I got the first phase down, it was pretty amazing how fun the combat is when you get a grip on an encounter. It's very rhythmic in timing attacks and instantly timing a parry, followed by timing a dodge and counter attack.
It's too bad you basically throw away all you learn from bosses when the next one hits due to the completely new movesets you need to master.

fight. Sooooooooo good. Once you figure out his patterns it's a crazy good fight. The only problem I had was that I was unable to get the counter for his
Lady Butterfly was my first actually, got her on my 15th or so attempt. I hadn't even met Gyobu aka Horse Boss until after I beat her, and I beat him on my third try. But then you run into the bull mini-boss and I was stuck there for a good 40-45 minutes as I felt that fight was a harder challenge than the bosses before it.

Almost killed Lady Butterfly. I wish the game would give just a bit more slack, it takes ages to get her hp down and that means way too many opportunities for me to get hit.
I've been following impressions of this game, and what seems striking to me is that it doesn't sound like a lot of these boss fights are fun.
Is that the case? Is that different than their other games in that regard? I only played Bloodborne once through because it literally gave me headaches, but there were a number of bosses I would have loved to fight again.

I think I'm fairly late in the game, but I have never encountered that twirling and jumping Monk boss From showed off in demos. Did I skip an area in the game somehow?
HOWEVER
I just encountered a ghostly "corrupted monk" version of that boss, with the same attacks I remember from the demos. The fuck? This normal or did I skip over an area in the game?
I ended up using shurikens on the thing, I got down more than half its health with them, that helped a lot. It was a bitch tho.
Yeah the Japanese voice acting is the way to go here. Fits the setting beautifully, and is a lot more expressive than the English. It definitely feels like the one they prioritized, hence why it is the default, I'm assuming.
You will see a lot more of those guys. The nobles who drink the divine waters to turn into those things remind me a lot of the Bloodborne scholars who became obsessed with the celestials.

After defeating any boss, I've felt like I could go back and do it again no problem. None of them felt like overcoming unfair and cheap bullshit, I could always feel myself learning their attack patterns with every continued encounter and all of their moves have proper counters. Every encounter has been fun.
If you're facing the front of the building, turn to your left (7 / 8 o'clock position) and look for a branch. From there, you can drop down into an area with
some monkeys and a (familiar) mini boss,
then you shimmy across the cliffs and reach a tree that lets you enter the place from the second floor.
If the special attack icon pops up and they use an attack that thrusts forward with a stabbing motion rather than a swing or a grapple, use the Mikiri Counter. It won't actually activate under any other circumstances.
You could technically normal parry those attacks too but it's not nearly as useful as the massive posture damage the Mikiri does.
Any other situation just use the normal (L1) parry.

Never let go of the run button. Whenever he would charge (which is pretty much all the time), I would just run/jump diagonally backwards and then run up and slash him as he was slamming into a wall. That was basically all I did.
