Dreamcast 2 was officially in development, somewhere around the turn of the century. However by early 2001, all R&D on a Dreamcast 2 was stopped. Microsoft launched the XBOX on its own.

Jet Set Radio Future doesn't need to get "ported", at least in the sense that you won't need to buy another copy of the game. That's the entire point of having backwards compatibility for both 360 and original Xbox.
If Microsoft greenlights Jet Set Radio 3, there is a benevolent god after all.
These are huge companies frequently working together on all kinds of things. Why are people assuming Microsoft is buying Sega exactly?
I woudn't hope for MS to have any significant stake in Sega, or titles they develop. Phil Spencer has said that he doesn't way of influencing Sega's business (when asked about Shenmue III). Sega's been doing their own thing for a long long time now.

They're buying Sega for sure. Thought that it's gonna happen after the Capcom buyout but looks like Sega is more bankrupt.
For better or worse, Sammy isn't letting Sega go anytime soon. sammy is facing its own issues with lagging sales and is looking at Sega to be a growth driver. With the upstick in sales for Sega plus integrating sammy heavily into Segas arcade/amusement business. Plus recent investment in facilities in the U.S., for the Sega side (going back into slot machines/western gambling devices, the sonic movie, expanding IP franchising, growing the punishing arm). they plan to stay integrated for sometime to come.
I'd throw money at Sega for this to happen.Does this mean Xbox can get home versions of Daytona Championship USA (the newest arcade game which got accidentally leaked for download)
and Daytona USA 2 Battle on the Edge + Power Edition ?? Which will be 20 years old this year.

First time I have heard of Sega expanding gambling (Sega Sammy Creation) into the US, especially facilities, I only know that they will do that for Asia. Source?
Also pachinko still makes a fortune and basicilly funds Sega's operations. Also Sammy's pachinko/pachislot is pretty seperate from Sega's arcade stuff. You rarely see Sammy machines in Club Sega's....

I was thinking brand recognition, but since the road versions of the cars in Scud Race are all in Forza 7...

Mmmm yeah, that makes sense. I'd pay good money to see Scud Race happen. I was crushed when nothing more came of the two Katana demos (DC devkit) of Scud Race in early '98.
Also something else I wanted to post...
Maybe something to do with gamepass games seeing as Sega are close to stopping a few games in March i think.
I love the original texture work in Dinosaur Canyon. 2017's Daytona looks terrible
