Gliding is third person. Free falling in some situations, sure. But not parachuting since you can shoot while doing so.Oh I know, I still think it would be neat to have though. The kill animations are now third person...
Interesting that grenade isn't on a bumper. Seems like that and maybe specialist role should be up there instead of on the D-Pad.
Oh I didn't realize that. Excellent.Gliding is third person. Free falling in some situations, sure. But not parachuting since you can shoot while doing so.
What's even more interesting is that there's nothing at all on the individual bumpers. Probably should be grenade.Interesting that grenade isn't on a bumper. Seems like that and maybe specialist role should be up there instead of on the D-Pad.
It is interesting. It may be that hitting the grenade button (on the d-pad) gets it ready like the gadgets then you use the normal fire trigger to cook it or toss it.What's even more interesting is that there's nothing at all on the individual bumpers. Probably should be grenade.
People were concerned that there was no hint of a beta and now we have it. Out of curiosity what is your concern given that now we will have a beta?2 days for the Open Beta? That is horrifically short. I'm starting to be really concerned about this game.

I trust that Dice knows better than we do how much info they will get in 2 days. Not to mention there are two more days on the front of that for preorders and EA Play people. And they know what the numbers look like. I mean this beta is one of the most anticipated gaming events of the fall based on gaming press and social media. They'll potentially have tens in not hundreds of thousands of players on each platform. It's just nowhere near enough time for DICE to accumulate data about the game in the wild so they can bug fix and balance elements that need balancing. The word "beta" has completely lost its meaning in this industry. It's a glorified demo, not an opportunity for the devs to dig in to how the meta is going to play out and adjust anything that needs to be adjusted.
Battlefield open "betas" have almost always been demos. They do proper alphas and closed betas for everything else. It's just nowhere near enough time for DICE to accumulate data about the game in the wild so they can bug fix and balance elements that need balancing. Might as well be no crossplay for the beta, then, unless there's another way to join the same game as your crossplay friends.
I feel there must be something on the individual bumpers, the screenshot just doesn't show it because the menu maybe dissolves between different pages to show different functions on certain buttons, and for vehicles/flight?What's even more interesting is that there's nothing at all on the individual bumpers. You may or may not have a right to be concerned about the full state of the game based on dice prior track record but betas have been demos and marketing tools for years now. Way over a decade. So using this as the basis of the concern just in and of itself is woefully outdated.2 days for the Open Beta? That is horrifically short. I'm starting to be really concerned about this game.
Does this mean it's also available to all Xbox game pass members on PC?"Early access is available on October 6-7, 2021 for all players who pre-order the game or are current EA Play members."
Early access with EA Play \o/ (no need preorder)
Game Pass Ultimate, yes.Does this mean it's also available to all Xbox game pass members on PC?
Yeah even when I posted it, I thought it's not showing lb and rb properly. There would need to be a way to ping and commrose and battlefield has remappable controls anyway for console so I'm not worried on that front.I feel there must be something on the individual bumpers, the screenshot just doesn't show it because the menu maybe dissolves between different pages to show different functions on certain buttons, and for vehicles/flight?
Complete nonsense. What does the number of days the beta runs has to do with quality of the game or the state it's in?2 days for the Open Beta? That is horrifically short. I'm starting to be really concerned about this game.

No specific place. Just as long as you have a preorder in then you'll get a beta code for early access. How do I get early access? Is there a specific place I have to preorder?
I wonder how they're going to split the base xbox and PS4 players from the XsX & PS5 players from each other since the series X and PS5 will be 128 player vs the base 64.
I'm excited, I'll preorder for the hell of it since I'm buying into it anyway.
I was thinking of picking this up on PC but my XsX is connected to the better TV.
I'd like to know whether additional weapons are going to be given for free with Battlepass, but outside of it players will have to earn them.I wonder when we will get a proper breakdown of what/how the Battlepasses work?
Will it be like COD?
Will they make a universal currency, like COD points that can be used to buy Battlepasses? Earned during Battepasses?
Will we be able to gift Battlepasses?
I'd like to know whether additional weapons are going to be given for free with Battlepass, but outside of it players will have to earn them.
Well, "free but earned" is still technically "free", so...Unless they have quietly chanced things DICE did state back around E3 time that everything affecting gameplay (maps, weapons, vehicles, specialists...) will be free.
What is paid content is cosmetics for most part, but some are attached as freebies to leveling operators, weapons etc.
Last gen consoles, Xbox one and PS4, can play together. And PC, XSX, PS5 players can play together.I wonder how they're going to split the base xbox and PS4 players from the XsX & PS5 players from each other since the series X and PS5 will be 128 player vs the base 64.

But I hope you are right.
In the simplest terms, alpha = feature complete, beta = content complete. :)

EDIT: Yeah, there's stuff on just the bumpers:
Yeah, those are pretty big omissions. Me and my buddy joked that DICE made some intern make those screeshots and this is what we got.Really strange to post the button configuration and then miss two frequently used buttons with important features like this.
You don't have to. It's an open beta. And if you want to jump in early, just buy EA Play (one month is on sale right now, but promotion ends today). That trailer was so hype! Really tempted to preorder and try the beta
Oh didn't realise, thanks! You don't have to. It's an open beta. And if you want to jump in early, just buy EA Play (one month is on sale right now, but promotion ends today).
I'll ask this here instead of bumping an older thread:
With the delay to November, is there still an early launch for preorders like there originally was in Oct or is Nov 19th now the release date for everyone?
I am not sure that their crossplay plans are set in stone and the beta will probably give them the data they need.Just preordered the PS5 version on amazon.de (f that price though). Amazon should send me a code when the beta starts?
Hope KB/M support for PS5 is in it (and 120 Hz). After Warzone, i don't want to go back to controller.
Well this is what I have been waiting to hear.
DiCE incorporating easy anti cheat and faster response to reporting cheaters.
Yes. Fuck yes. This is what I was waiting for. Now I am more interested in the game and its future.
I'm gonna assume this is weird phrasing from the author of the article since I don't see how offering mouse and keyboard on consoles helps "fair play" in a title that is already mixing inputs. Arguably by not offering the option at launch it is doing the exact opposite of that."Finally, in another move to keep play fair, Battlefield 2042 will not offer mouse and keyboard support for consoles at launch. Any changes to this in the future will be announced by DICE prior to them being rolled out."
Yes this is indeed contradiction.I'm gonna assume this is weird phrasing from the author of the article since I don't see how offer mouse and keyboard on consoles helps "fair play" in a title that is already mixing inputs. Arguably by not offering the option at launch it is doing the exact opposite of that.
I'm gonna be a pessimist on this one and argue they are gonna do what they want to do here rather than listen to feedback or follow best practices. I'm not normally a skeptic like this but it seems so clearly they just want to unify the market here for reasons outside of what is the best experience for everybody. I'll leave it up to the beta to change my mind on this but this still remains the #1 feature I fundamentally don't like about the game.
