i'm done with nvidia's crap. until i can get a card for £200-300 that gives me a good upgrade over my 2080 then i'm not giving them any money.
probably will be 2-3 years away but i can wait :)
Why feel bad? It's still a fantastic card. Not sure if I should feel bad or not for buying the RTX 2070. It's my first GPU so really I had no other choice on which other GPU's to buy back in last November. 1080, 1080 ti's all sold out, etc.
It's very good at 1440p gaming (able to get 1440p, 144hz in some games), but wish the can perform a bit more better.
Gonna wait for the 2080 Super reviews. If doesn't please me enough, i'll just wait for the 3000 series.
Yeah, thats fair. Alot of pc gamers have huge libraries so its hard for them to switch to console but i personally haven't been a huge pc gamer like others and i have less than 70 games on steam so yeah, different situation than most.the EGS stuff doesn't bother me at all tbh - been hoovering up the free games, and their sale had great prices on a bunch of stuff; i'm not as fussed by a lot of Steam's features as most, seemingly - but i'm def. just not feeling things hardware wise at the mo.
i'll never go full-time console, though. if you think the value in PC gaming is bad just try dealing with those game prices for everything, plus i'd lose my existing library.
My point is that by waiting for ray tracing to become something you can future proof your 970 is going to be beyond painfully outdated. Unless you're prepared to wait for years then I'd be upgrading now if it's possible.
It is, but the ray tracing performance is a bit disappointing. But again this is just the beginning of the tech which i'm kinda aware of. I don't think i'll ever game with ray tracing. Never bothered to turn it on especially my first RTX card broke too.. oof
I mean just look at the specs, like 5% more CUDA cores, 4% more RT cores...
pointless card
I kept my GTX 1080 Ti for 4K gaming for my test bench/HTPC. I should have sold it before, as Super prices are going to drop any chances I had on selling it. Dang you, Nvidia.
Hadn't even thought about it but yeah 1080 Ti resale value just took a pretty big hit
Yup they intentionally dont want it anywhere close to the 2080ti in performance.
In summary, the 2060 Super is basically a 2070, and the 2070 Super is basically a 2080. By that logic, I'm anticipating the 2080 Super to be basically a 2080Ti.

that's the thing, though--if i don't wait, i'm just gonna be in this exact same place in only a couple of years, and then i won't have the money to upgrade again.
i'm a student, (and on a degree programme with less than amazing future career prospects, tbh) so the only reason i can even afford a gaming PC at all is that things used to be a lot cheaper when i actually bought most of the bits that are in it now.
Guess I'll have to wait for the next gen and just lower the graphics on Cyberpunk, oh well.
Why? 1080ti will play Cyberpunk fineShame about the 2080S, I thought I would finally change my 1080Ti. Worst part to me is the 8gb vram, because that would be a downgrade.

I can tell you now, the 2080ti will be better than it, probably by at least 10%I was excited for NVIDIA news and once again I am disappointed. There is no benchmarks/reviews to be found for the 2080 Super. Wanted to compare to the 2080ti so I can decide which one I'm buying.
I thought the Embargo was lifted on all Super cards today
Pretty certain I'm getting the 2080ti in any case since the price difference is just a bit over $300. boy these high end gpu prices are still nutso
Yeah, it's such a weird gen.Pretty certain I'm getting the 2080ti in any case since the price difference is just a bit over $300. boy these high end gpu prices are still nutso
So I was right the 2080S will be about 10-15% faster than the normal 2080. Time to sell it.
bothWill rtx performance get better with driver updates or is it just hindered by the infancy of its hardware?
You're going to be super disappointed then lol. Its not even in the same stratosphere as the 2080TiIn summary, the 2060 Super is basically a 2070, and the 2070 Super is basically a 2080. By that logic, I'm anticipating the 2080 Super to be basically a 2080Ti.
Naaah, as you can see the RTX series is a test card for raytracing. 1080Ti is equal to 2070 SUPER in a lot of demanding games and of course raytracing still sucks.
I'm happy playing in 1440p Ultra with my 1080Ti and I can't see any advantage to upgrade until the next series arrives
If it's only 10% then I'll just go with the 2080S I think.I can tell you now, the 2080ti will be better than it, probably by at least 10%
Any more info on the mini versions? My current card is 269mm long and it pressed against my PSU in my case. I've got a 1070 and I was thinking of waiting to upgrade, but I wanna upgrade my CPU (Ryzen 1700) to the new ones and I'd like to make a GPU upgrade at the same time so I don't have to put my GPU back in such a tight spot.
Just always get the best one you can afford.ERA, help me out here - GTX 970 owner. I want to game at 4K60 in GTA V and upcoming Cyberpunk. I have 9900K OC at 4.9 Ghz with 16 GB of 2666Mhz RAM. Which card should I get? 2070S, 2080 Ti, 2080S (which it launches at the end of this month)?

Wait for the rumored Ampere launch next year?
I swear I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere, does the 2070 super have an increased RT core count over the normal 2070?
I really don't know what to do with my 2070. With the 2060 super pretty much matching it I doubt I could even sell mine for $400. I guess it depends on how high the aib cards with better clocks speeds and cooling designs are going to be, if those pop up around $450 with that being how much I paid for my 2070, I guess I didn't really overpay. I imagine it's a very dumb idea to spend at least $100 more for the super over a base 2070 even if I could sell mine for $400.

You should be able to watch some benchmarks for games like Shadow of the Tomb Raider. There's hundreds on Youtube. Just google Shadow of the Tomb Raider / 4K. A maxed out PC running a single 2080ti card struggles to hold 60 at 4k.ERA, help me out here - GTX 970 owner. I want to game at 4K60 in GTA V and upcoming Cyberpunk. Gizmodo is saying the 2060 super outperforms the 2080 with rtx on in battlefield v by like 15 FPS.
