Not sure if I should feel bad or not for buying the RTX 2070. It's my first GPU so really I had no other choice on which other GPU's to buy back in last November. 1080, 1080 ti's all sold out, etc.

It's very good at 1440p gaming (able to get 1440p, 144hz in some games), but wish the can perform a bit more better.

Gonna wait for the 2080 Super reviews. If doesn't please me enough, i'll just wait for the 3000 series.

i'm done with nvidia's crap. until i can get a card for £200-300 that gives me a good upgrade over my 2080 then i'm not giving them any money.

probably will be 2-3 years away but i can wait :)

Might be closer to 5 years at our current pace. We had GTX 1080 performance for over 3 years for $500. The 2060 super is the first card in that class to hit $400. 1080 ti performance just hit $500. In 3 year years that might get down to $400.

Unless AMD seriously steps up their game.

I kept my GTX 1080 Ti for 4K gaming for my test bench/HTPC. I should have sold it before, as Super prices are going to drop any chances I had on selling it. Dang you, Nvidia.

Why feel bad? It's still a fantastic card.

the EGS stuff doesn't bother me at all tbh - been hoovering up the free games, and their sale had great prices on a bunch of stuff; i'm not as fussed by a lot of Steam's features as most, seemingly - but i'm def. just not feeling things hardware wise at the mo.

i'll never go full-time console, though. if you think the value in PC gaming is bad just try dealing with those game prices for everything, plus i'd lose my existing library.
Yeah, thats fair. Alot of pc gamers have huge libraries so its hard for them to switch to console but i personally haven't been a huge pc gamer like others and i have less than 70 games on steam so yeah, different situation than most.

My point is that by waiting for ray tracing to become something you can future proof your 970 is going to be beyond painfully outdated. Unless you're prepared to wait for years then I'd be upgrading now if it's possible.

that's the thing, though--if i don't wait, i'm just gonna be in this exact same place in only a couple of years, and then i won't have the money to upgrade again.

i'm a student, (and on a degree programme with less than amazing future career prospects, tbh) so the only reason i can even afford a gaming PC at all is that things used to be a lot cheaper when i actually bought most of the bits that are in it now.

Totally buying the 2070S. Hopefully Best Buy carries them at launch and prices them appropriately (sometimes they jack up the prices on graphics cards).

Man I hope there's 2080 ti super, lol. But I just can't even imagine the specs for it, since 2080 ti is pretty powerful card already

In summary, the 2060 Super is basically a 2070, and the 2070 Super is basically a 2080. By that logic, I'm anticipating the 2080 Super to be basically a 2080Ti.

Gonna try to wait out the rest of the year with my 1080, in the hopes that we'll get a 2080ti Super by March of next year. There are just too many big games coming out next year to not upgrade

Naaah, as you can see the RTX series is a test card for raytracing. 1080Ti is equal to 2070 SUPER in a lot of demanding games and of course raytracing still sucks.

I'm happy playing in 1440p Ultra with my 1080Ti and I can't see any advantage to upgrade until the next series arrives

Nah. The 2080 Ti is a massive jump up from the 2080. The 2080 Super refresh performance increase looks to be in line with the the 2060/270 Super increase, 10-15%. That still leaves another 15-20% of a lead to the 2080 Ti.

Shame about the 2080S, I thought I would finally change my 1080Ti. Worst part to me is the 8gb vram, because that would be a downgrade.

Guess I'll have to wait for the next gen and just lower the graphics on Cyberpunk, oh well.

It sounds like a tough spot. Maybe you can grab a used card as people upgrade? I can't imagine using 970 these days, but I'm gaming at a higher resolution too. Good luck.

I mean.. the game doesn't come out for another 9 months..

So I was right the 2080S will be about 10-15% faster than the normal 2080. Time to sell it.

I was excited for NVIDIA news and once again I am disappointed. There is no benchmarks/reviews to be found for the 2080 Super. Wanted to compare to the 2080ti so I can decide which one I'm buying.

I thought the Embargo was lifted on all Super cards today

Pretty certain I'm getting the 2080ti in any case since the price difference is just a bit over $300. boy these high end gpu prices are still nutso

I can tell you now, the 2080ti will be better than it, probably by at least 10%

Yeah, it's such a weird gen.

Lots of people refusing to buy into the 20xx series due to the price.
Lots of people buying into the 20xx series but in a very disgruntled way.
Lots of buyer's remorse now that these Super cards are being announced.

Nvidia don't seem to care much about customer satisfaction these days =P

They never really did. They are interested in money and pushing graphics as fast and as far ahead as they can, largely for non gaming applications. With AMD unable to produce competitively capable high end cards, Nvidia is just not feeling any kind of heat. So prices go up and benefits go down.

Exactly how I feel. Nvidia advertise the 2070s as faster than the 1080ti yet 90% of the games benchmarked show the 1080ti with higher fps. They say the super 2080 is faster than Titan xp which was only 5-6 fps higher than a 1080ti. I'm still not convinced by rtx (I think control is the first that might make it worthwhile) so I'll be keeping my 1080ti for the foreseeable future

I'm somewhat pleased with what I'm seeing now. The Supers should've been what we received originally, instead of what we got. Now the 2070 Super is a little better than 1080ti, like the 1070 was with the 980ti.

extremely surprised with their pricing. Navi was good for something. Ready to see so many benchmarks within the next month.

ERA, help me out here - GTX 970 owner. I want to game at 4K60 in GTA V and upcoming Cyberpunk. I have 9900K OC at 4.9 Ghz with 16 GB of 2666Mhz RAM. Which card should I get? 2070S, 2080 Ti, 2080S (which it launches at the end of this month)?

OR

Wait for the rumored Ampere launch next year?

Any more info on the mini versions? My current card is 269mm long and it pressed against my PSU in my case. I've got a 1070 and I was thinking of waiting to upgrade, but I wanna upgrade my CPU (Ryzen 1700) to the new ones and I'd like to make a GPU upgrade at the same time so I don't have to put my GPU back in such a tight spot.

It looks like aside from Gigabyte, Inno3D will also have at least one family of mini S cards according to the pictures in their press release:

I really don't know what to do with my 2070. With the 2060 super pretty much matching it I doubt I could even sell mine for $400. I guess it depends on how high the aib cards with better clocks speeds and cooling designs are going to be, if those pop up around $450 with that being how much I paid for my 2070, I guess I didn't really overpay. I imagine it's a very dumb idea to spend at least $100 more for the super over a base 2070 even if I could sell mine for $400.

I swear I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere, does the 2070 super have an increased RT core count over the normal 2070?

RT cores 36 --> 40

Gizmodo is saying the 2060 super outperforms the 2080 with rtx on in battlefield v by like 15 FPS.

You should be able to watch some benchmarks for games like Shadow of the Tomb Raider. There's hundreds on Youtube. Just google Shadow of the Tomb Raider / 4K. A maxed out PC running a single 2080ti card struggles to hold 60 at 4k.

Best decision I ever made was buying a 3440x1440p 144hz Ultrawide monitor. There are nice inexpensive 27inch144hz 1440p monitors too and its much easier to push 60. I personally don't use my 4K TV anymore unless I watch TV or play on my console (only because it doesn't do the full 21:9 ratio)

Why the best and strongest so the most expensive GPU is the first to be released? Is this a strategy for those who can't wait to jump on the most expensive one? If the opposite happens and the cheaper ones get released first, many would settle for them and when the most expensive ones get reelased they won't sell that much. I find this kinda not healthy and customer friendly.
Just release all at the same time.
