Wasn't expecting this! Imagine tomorrow if they announced the Nintendo Direct for the 20th.

Hmm Mercury steam made a Castlevania game and then a Metroid game. Wayforward helped make a Castlevania game and then... I think its happening guys.

Alright I'm penciling my vote in for Splatoon 2 Metroidvania spin-off

Why? Why not

If it's a first party IP, I hope it's Wario Land. If not, I hope it's Castlevania. They have worked on previous games that make either possibility exciting.

A game made by Wayforward based on a Nintendo IP could be really exciting. Cadence of Hyrule showed that it can work when a different developer tackles a beloved Nintendo franchise.

Thank you!

Damn, this is going to help tide me over until the next Nintendo Direct comes out on July 20th. Really, all I want is another good surprise from Nintendo, at least to help me get through the wait until the next Direct. Either way, I'm pretty stoked for this. I don't know much about WayForward but everyone is giving them a lot of credit so we'll see where this takes us...

I feel like Wario Land, Kirby, heck even 2D Chibi Robo have a stronger chance here than Metroid. Simply just based off the aesthetics of the type of games they tend to make. Who knows they may even do something that absolutely no one could've predicted like a Metroidvania Ice Climbers lol. Should be interesting.

So is this expected to be WayForward developing a Nintendo franchise? The wording is weird that it's a new franchise for them.
