No one has the discussion though, you're here practically not having it but focusing on being more upset at Motherboard for writing about it.

Writing about it is part of having a discussion

Except I actually AM having the discussion, and have similar discussions all the time. I'm not "more focused on being upset at Motherboard". I'm discussed by this guy's behavior. I'm not upset an Motherboard at all actually, I just think their tactic here is counter productive.

You on the otherhand are fostering discussion by driving by with "nope". And then hurling passive aggressive insults. Is that your idea of having a discussion. If so, lol!

Seriously, did I ever say I was upset with Motherboard? Or is literally making up shit your M.O.

You literally opened up with writing this article does a disservice to feminism dude.

More articles need to be written about how many misogynistic gamers there are and how many in the gaming community often rallies in their support. Not less.

Regardless of the content of the videos, I think the headlines alone warrant the ban.
The guy is clearly inciting hate and its clearly working if you look at the gleeful reactions.
If the titles are an issue, make it clear.

I think you know as well as I do; Youtube's TOS is way too vague for the amount of mediums that exist & the amount of content that can be uploaded to their site.

I said it once, I'll say it again:

Behind closed doors, Youtube needs to have a conversation about their ethics & morals when it comes to Video Games.

When they've come to a decision on what type of Website & Business they want to be, make it KNOWN. Update TOS. Make the rules clear and concise.

I've gone ahead and edited out the picture since it's rather large. This is some very strange whataboutism though, as I don't believe there is good reason for these other videos to stand either. Can't speak to their popularity relative to the one being discussed as the topic of this thread, which may be a reason why they attracted their attention and the ones you've listed haven't.

Are you arguing that it is good that these videos are still up?

I absolutely detest Sterling's videos/whole act but I've got a great deal of respect for the bloke all the same (especially how he's aided lesser-known others into prominence over the years). More power to those who like him.

He'd do well to ignore this sort of attention, it's not good seeing Youtube the platform in the state it is since its peak (for gaming-related content I mean) - Red Dead 2 is going to feature in Idiot Does Something To Get Famous stories for a looooong time I would say.

guys, some people think killing feminists is good. others think killing feminists is bad. can't we all just meet in the middle and agree to beat feminists up without killing them?
Isn;t it obvious only irrational people driven by emotion have issues with misogynistic gamers making money peddling feminist murder fantasies to alt right gamers.

A logical person would understand that it;s just a difference of opinion.
i'm trying really hard not to read that post as dAmN eMoTiOnAl WoMeN, but...

no they're just saying either everything stays up or everything goes down but nothing can go down until everything goes down and it's a crying shame this kid's videos went down while those videos are still up so all the down videos must go up before all the videos come down

also TOSes apparently aren't designed to be as broad as possible so that sites like youtube can have some amount of leeway when making decisions and there should be a clearly labeled section about suffragettes as NPCs in videogames and the actions that you are and are not allowed to take with them

you can't effectively combat hate speech with algorithms (no matter how badly SV wishes this were the case), and wanting it to ONLY be the domain of algorithms is tantamount to wanting it to spread

This is kinda stupid but it kinda feeds into the stupid "NPC" meme that's been going around.

"NPCs aren't people, so why care?" can definitely lead to, "Other people aren't important, so I guess I should go kill some for real"

Because I think the article is counter productive. And being counter productive is a disservice. I then followed up with why I believe that.

If you disagree that's fine. We can discuss like adults, and you might even change my mind if you have good points. But driving by with "nope" and passive aggressive insults is not a discussion.

Great, now he's got his channel back, and picked up some 4chan groupies along the way. Way to go! /s

Really didn't mean to derail the thread. I actually thought I would be in the majority with my take that men do stupid shit all the time, such as dipshit #1 who is literally using a video game as revenge porn against feminists. How people are jumping over that to defend men and hitting me with #notallmen is crazy. We even have some people in here defending the kid as if his actions are no big deal. We just had someone go into a yoga studio and shoot women because he was an incel. We gotta stop acting like our shit does not stink. Obvious-fucking-ly not all of us do wild shit and behave like this, but the ease in which some of you are willing to sweep this under the rug is scary.

I'm arguing that Youtube's TOS is vague, which leads to inconsistencies.

Someone's channel's taken down because in a video game, he chose to beat on women....
But I can literally look up videos on your site of people choosing to beat on women in video games...And those videos have been up for years!

Youtube, is beating on women in video games against your TOS, or is it not?
Because if it was, these other videos shouldn't & wouldn't be on your site. Period.

You've explained nothing other than it makes him a martyr....

That's not an explanation for why it does a disservice to feminism, that's a serious charge friendo.

Killing feminists in a fucking video game where you can potentially kill everyone is bad, but watching KKK members burn to death or actively killing people with different opinions in gruesome ways is tolerated or even hilarious. Okay, gotcha. Not hypocritical at all.

I don't think KKK can be equated to feminists at all.

But I dislike that the game gives you good karma for killing KKK members. I don't think any kind of killing should give you good karma.

Keemstar actually pulled through huh?

HAHAHAHA

Gamers rallying to get feminist murder fantasies back online and YouTube immediately bends over backwards ... but gaming isn't a txoic cesspool at all nope

I look forward to them personally apologizing to the misogynist.

YouTube should have to make a public statement and really own up to this. Really make it clear that they are sorry to the man who likes to make money off his fantasies of violently murdering fantasies.

The videos themselves are one thing, but the headlines add the context that makes them hateful and inciting.

In their TOS Youtube can't specifically account for all the ways people will find to spread hateful content.

If this guy had just an ounce of self awareness he would've known that he can get banned for spreading content like that. But the "anti-SJW" crowd doesn't have that self awareness, they have determined "SJWs" and feminists to be their enemies. They feel attacked by progressive ideology and lash out. There is nothing deliberate about it, its just dumb and in my opinion also dangerous. Deplatforming these people is probably the best solution.

This situation is not in TOS.
In fact TOS is incredibly vague when it comes to certain mediums. (artwork, films, games, music)

That's probably why these videos have existed on Youtube's site for so long...

Behind closed doors, Youtube needs to have a conversation about their ethics & morals when it comes to Video Games.

When they've come to a decision on what type of Website & Business they want to be, make it KNOWN. Update TOS. Make the rules clear and concise.

- IF Youtube doesn't allow violence based off race, gender etc in VIDEO GAMES, MAKE IT CLEAR.

- Figure out how this rule works...Do they not allow violence based off race, gender, religion if the game is an open sandbox? What if killing someone based off these factors are part of the story? GAMING IS TOO LARGE to not have these types of conversations.

- Give the kid his channel back.
- Then, give everyone a chance to clear their portfolio of any videos that violate those rules.

But to abruptly terminate a channel, because someone at the office was feeling emotional, is unprofessional.
I like how you're running on the assumption that someone "at the office" was feeling emotional. Oh and that this grown ass man is a kid. Great priorities fam.
