Plenty of great publishers this decade. Sony was by no means the only good one...or even the best, imo
most certainly. this list is made from a pretty insignificant number of votes.
Likewise The Last of Us doesn't really stick with me as I found it's story to be rather standard whereas I'll always remember how much fun I had playing BotW
Its also user votes in Metacritic. Couldn't think of a more meaningless metric.
I don't care much MetaCritic user feedback either but this isn't a useless metric. It shows that most of the people who voted really loved or at least liked The Last of Us. It counts
That's cool. I love both. TLoU elevated acting and production values in video games to new heights and BotW gave me a sense of wonder I haven't felt in a game since I was a child.

I'd say there isn't much on the list that actually play better unless it's from FROM

There are a couple of glaring omissions for sure. Still, you can only have so many games in a tiny, arbitrary list.
I'll never get how folk can get 93 or 98. Those are too close to 95 or 100 for me
Yeah because Metacritic isn't known to be a console war nest or anything.
Execution tends to beat out originality; if anything, execution is undervalued. TLOU being a game and story built upon decades of post-apocalyptic literature and media doesn't make its characters, pacing, gameplay, and storytelling through gameplay any less impactful or diminishes their executions
But it's not about what was yikes for you - it's about what was yikes wrt the commercial and user feedback consensus - which put Sony exclusives on top and "yikes" re Microsoft etc
