But the comparison was with USUM. The anime is still an Alola show focusing on Alola Pokémon/characters. The anime isn't changing to a Kanto show focusing on its characters, so I don't think legs will be as good.

The game isn't really even targeting gen 1 fans. They specifically mentioned young children and people who were introduced to Pokemon with Go.
Let's Go is getting tv stuff like every other remake lol.
I wish it was actually made for fans of gen 1, I'd have more interest in it that way. I think they're targeting nostalgia but have failed hitting they market as well. Overall let's go feels like a total misread from gamefreak.
Maybe sales will end up being a huge surprise but IMO the franchise has been and continues to be held back by gamefreak.
I'm not sure if Ash getting Hentai Protag Eevee is enough
For reference, I have a small cousin who is very into Gen 6 and 7 Pokémon thanks to the anime, but doesn't know much about gen 1.How do they target children if most children's favorite Pokemon aren't in the game?
That applied to the other remakes and I don't think it hurt them. But the comparison was with USUM. The anime is still an Alola show focusing on Alola Pokémon/characters. The anime isn't changing to a Kanto show focusing on its characters, so I don't think legs will be as good.
There has to be some reason they only have gen-one Pokemon in the game, and if that is not to appeal to gan-one-ers, I'm quite baffled by the decision.

So I don't get how this game is meant to appeal to kids if it doesn't feature the Pokémon and characters they know and like.

Im sure they were attempting to appeal to them, I just don't think they succeeded. Also I feel that may have more to do with the development of the game.
Ultra Sun and Moon sold well, a revamped HD version probably would look better than Let's Go and be less disappointing.
Maybe if they implemented those "ultra changes" they touted, it wouldn't have gotten so much heatUS/UM got plenty of backlash too, having another version of that would have gone down just as bad if not worse.
Wonder if Pokémon stars would've been a better idea.

Guess GF is hoping to capitalize on Pokémon Go more directly and if there's something there it could be big, but it also risks being a poor introduction to Pokémon on switch
We'll find out in a few weeks in any case
I remember when last year people said US/UM would be the lowest selling third version
I also remember everyone saying it would bomb and that it was a pointless game
It's not far from 2.5 millions now in Japan. I'm expecting the same thing to more or less happen with Let's Go
Based on what I have read in interviews they are probably hoping that the simplification and changes in addition to the popularity Pikachu and Eevee brings in new players. I would guess them only going with gen 1 Pokemon is them keeping it "simple".How do they target children if most children's favorite Pokemon aren't in the game?

I was mostly responding to your comment about the anime not going back to Kanto. It was a comparison with USUM legs tho, not the remakes.
Also, remakes are usually released after the new gens, when Pokémon fans are on the system already. And they do sell less than new gens anyway.
This way they get USUM money and Let's Go money while being able to experiment. Also, this game seems to a project for Masuda to play with while the gen 8 games are in development and Stars wouldn't have been that.Wonder if Pokémon stars would've been a better idea.

They want those Go players. But this doesn't have Go's 2 key selling points: community and barrier of entry.Based on what I have read in interviews they are probably hoping that the simplification and changes in addition to the popularity Pikachu and Eevee brings in new players. Tbh Let's Go would have made a killing as a story mode to Go on mobile. It kind of looks the part too. As a 60 dollars console game, the expectations are completely different.
However they need to push it very very hard if they want it to be a total success. They are not doing that for now imo.
Agree, and i'm even more happy it seems to hit few targets of players (at least from my anecdots) the people which grew up with Pokémon, but are not gamers at all since then, and really like the cutey side, and the people which doesn't like at all fighting in PokémonLet's Go is a great thing imo. It gives more time to developp Gen 8 while expanding the fanbase.
When the alternative is nothing or a rushed Gen 8, it is really the best solution.

Go is a free mobile game. Let's go is $60 and requires a $300 console. It's going to sell really well and for a really long time. It's a Pokemon with links to one of the most successful mobile games of all time releasing near the holidays for the hottest system on the market.
I mean there are diehard Pokemon fans who will skip this, but I don't see any reason it won't be a mainstream hit.
What piece of the puzzle am I missing?
the problem i have with this point specifically is that while the mobile game expands in its functionality, the switch game will remain static. this point would work much better if pokemon that couldn't be transferred to LG didn't outnumber the pokemon that can. and with Niantic reiterating on adding battles, it's gonna make LG more redundant (if they can get it out before 2020, anyway). LG just has a longevity problem. It's going to sell really well and for a really long time. It's a Pokemon with links to one of the most successful mobile games of all time releasing near the holidays for the hottest system on the market.

but $10 did stop Mario Run from being a success despite it's high download rate. the people who're not willing to spend cash up front aren't exactly the same people who're whalesDidn't stop whales from spending a few hundreds dollars on GO.

Well free is free though. How many of those millions of downloads didn't spend a dime on the game though? We should be comparing those who spent money on the mobile game.He didnt say it will sell as much as GO did
Take thr GO download numbers, divide it for 1000 and it still would be the most succesfull console gane of all time
I personally think tgat it will sell lower than previous mid gen games at launch, way better than any spin off, and will continue sell at lrast for an entire year in high position of many ww charts
The point is that mobile users don't like paying premium prices for games.Really incomparable situations. Mario Run required you to spend 10$ just to try it it was good while Pokémon Go is about to convert people already spending money.

I had several older ppl at my work who downloaded go to see what it was all about. They're definitely not going to buy a switch for let's go
How many of those millions of downloads didn't spend a dime on the game though?
And how many spend a lot of money and are likely to buy a game related to it ? Millions.
I agree but maybe we should put numbers on the table
Do we have an average number for
Pokemon main episodes
Pokemon mid gen episodes
Pokemon spin offs
sales in japan?
They transposed a gameboy world into 3D. They already have the Pokémon models. There's plenty of mobile games with more effort than this.Yes, they would give away a full re-imagining of Yellow in a free mobile game. Some of you really are clueless.

I'm calling the game low effort. Which is a decision made from the top and doesn't say anything about the devs working on it.
Not that it matters to the overall point, but i just wanted to say that Super Mario Run let people play the three first stages or so for free. Then you needed an in-game purchase to unlock the rest of the game.Really incomparable situations. Mario Run required you to spend 10$ just to try it it was good while Pokémon Go is about to convert people already spending money.
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA H
The devs are incompetent.
I agree. But do we have an idea of how many people fall in that first bucket? And how many spend a lot of money and are likely to buy a game related to it ? Millions.

The kids haven't what? Not sure who you are responding toThe kids haven't though. Let's hope this game can take the kids away from Fortnite, Minecraft and Rocket League, games that are actually challenging.
