To further clarify what someone else said - PSVR has always supported higher refresh rates because they achieve this through reprojection. The actual engine is never rendering more than 60 frames per second, with reprojection creating all of the additional frames (whether that is doubling 45 to 90 or 60 to 120).
There are some PSVR games that run at 120fps without reproduction, such as Polybius.

4k60 is more than enough for me. Looking forward to its release.
Edit: I hope it also has good HDR.

Have a 1080p/240Hz setup, will my 9700K or RTX 2080 be the bottleneck, or is the answer a mix of "both".

In my experience, at 1080p the CPU bottleneck in 3D games usually kicks in super hard around 170fps.

I'd not heard they had gotten anything above native 60, though it looks like you are right and there are at least a handful of games that say they have native 90/120 modes. I guess it just wasn't that common due to the PS4 hardware?

Wonder if I should cancel my PS4 order. I was planning on playing this on the PS5 in quality mode, but I don't have a 120Hz TV yet. I'd like to get the version with more options anyway.

I got a Best Buy $5 reward certificate from purchasing a Series X. If I cancel the PS4 version, will the points go back into my account?

Eh probably still get it for PS5 over Series X, trophies are too important and I have yet to notice a big enough difference from 60 to 120 for it to matter to me. However if it's on Gamepass that's different.

Probably via EA pass in a year's time.

Crysis Remastered was released in September but still not out on GP/Ea Play yet.

EDIT: NVM. Incorrect info.

Oh, good call.

I know there are mods, but they always seemed "shitty" to me, where you're like using an analog stick to drag a cursor around to select a power.

Maybe they got better since I last tried though.
I haven't messed with it in a long time.

I have the OG PC release on disks, lol. I remember when it was new I think i was trying a wired 360 pad with a third party app called Xpadder to map the keys to buttons but it was still really jank and didn't feel great to play.

I still have a base PS4 and I wasn't expecting to be given the choice between quality and framerate. I'm curious how it will look on the framerate option.

4K@60fps sounds good enough for me. Now, about that 120fps mode, hopefully they fixed that ME3 bug.

I'm going to wait for PS4 pro jet engine impressions before buying. I'd like to hear the game I'm playing. If it's bad I'll wait untill I have a PS5.

Hoping the quality mode at 4k/60 is more than just resolution! I would def take 4k over 120fps

but I don't think I'll be collecting many physical Xbox games
Get it on Xbox if you have a 120hz TV.

I regretted things so badly with Nier Replicant by purchasing it on PS5 instead of Series X, just because I didn't have any physical xbox games.

With the 6000 reward points on Xbox it makes it a no brainer to buy on there, really - particularly with the 120FPS mode.

I getting more mad i didnt went with a 120hz tv last year. I wasnt expecting so many games getting 120hz support..
Most of them will noticeably sacrifice resolution (1440p or mostly as low as 1080p even on XSX), which personally I will never accept for my calibrated LG OLED / 4K TV.

4K/60/HDR is and will remain the quality/performance sweet spot at least for another 6-7 years for me, so no real need in upgrading my TV yet (so far) ;)

Interesting. I wasn't expecting the ability to choose between "quality" and "framerate" on base PS4/XB1.

Sony taking Ls for their poor B/C implementation

Mass Effect, Rocket League, Overwatch, Warzone and more being 120fps on Xbox Series X and not on PS5 due to the B/C

That seems a little silly, as 1440p still looks great, especially with modern reconstruction techniques.

Signed,

Somebody who also has a calibrated 120 Hz OLED 4K TV.

I would switch for 1440p/60 + Ray Tracing: On compared to 1440p/120 with RT: Off any day of the week tho, especially for actual next-gen only games which will be much more demanding than current cross-gen/upgraded ones.

But yeah, this is very subjective in the end.
