You couldnt pay me to watch a musical.

This has nothing to do with the musical aspect, as there are GOOD musical films. I'm not huge on musicals, but the ones that hit... really hit. Rocky Horror is still my favorite movie to date.

This was just a bad movie, and the musical pieces weren't even that good. Where did all that money go?

Box Office: ‘Terrifier 3’ is No. 1 Clown as ‘Joker 2’ Suffers Record Fall and ‘Apprentice’ Gets Fired

The Donald Trump feature 'The Apprentice' is among several Oscar hopefuls opening nationwide to sluggish numbers, including Jason Reitman's 'Saturday Night.'
For comparison, The Flash was 73% and The Suicide Squad was 72%.

I think Todd Phillips career is done lol.

He's a straight cis white man. He'll be fine.

Maybe making a movie to spite a gross minority of incels wasn't a good idea

Not saying movies should aim for scattershot appeal, but laser targetting incels just to spite them doesnt seem worth doing if you expect the rest of us to watch

Even if he is done (tbh I agree he'll be fine), I think somehow, we will cope. Life may - may - go on.

Is this the biggest sequel drop off of all time? I guess the Marvels was the record holder before.

It's so baffling too, like everyone been saying that the whole incel panic thing was imagined or overblown

Yet apparently the director thought it was prevalent enough that the 2nd movie had to make things clear lol

The first film was one of my favourite films of the decade. I found it powerful and amazingly memorable. I don't know what they were thinking making this a musical, but that fact, along with the poor reception, turned me off watching it in theatres.

Joker 2 bombing is funny, and I'm tired of pretending it's not.

Also about to watch Terrifier 3. Who would've thought that a sequel given audiences what they want from it would be a winning plan?!

I have been seeing this a lot either unironically or ironically. Is this a joke or meme?
Can't speak for subpar spatula, who always is a little tongue in cheek, but I think it's moderately serious from people I've seen.

And I kind of get it. There are interesting things to latch onto and I think a lot of people who were disappointed that the movie wasn't what they wanted will move on, while the interesting bits will live on over time. I can totally imagine people talking about this movie in a decade in a way that I find it hard to imagine for other big clunkers.

I remember watching the first much later after it came out, I didn't even realise it HAD an incel following tbh; I don't even remember reading about it in the news, was it really that huge of a deal when it came out?

Honestly I never knew about this, that's crazy. To think these people could be walking around anywhere.

What kind of a mind do you have to think a character like Joker represents you? Maybe it's something I missed because I am in the UK and as far as I am aware the movie wasn't that big of a hit initially here? Or maybe it's because I kind of put off watching it for years because I thought it would have just been another overrated movie tbh but yeah, crazy stuff.

A sequel wasn't needed. they decide to make one anyway and then decide it should be a musical. WB has inept people running it.

They're gonna be in massive trouble next year when Superman under performs their expectations. I don't think it will bomb but its not gonna be this massive hit they and others think it will be.

I wonder if this will have studios reconsider making films with cisgender heterosexual white men in the lead like every fucking studio does with women and queer people when it comes to movie bombs? 🤔

The thing is it's clear Phillips and Phoenix never had any intention of doing the movie people actually wanted to see from a sequel (Phoenix's Joker becoming a more established villain closer to comic Joker), so I don't think they were ever going to deliver something pleasing to the public here.

I go to the movie theater about once a week and Joker mania was on another level.

It was the first time in the history of me watching movies that I had to have an employee escort me to my seat. The line to watch Joker was crazy because everybody had to be walked in personally. I wasn't even watching the movie by myself! I was seeing it with the woman I was dating at the time. It was very funny stuff.

I watched it the other day
The acting was great, visually it was great, the only issue is the story was just kind of non existant.
You wait the whole time for the plot to start and then realise you are 2 hours in and its over lol

You couldnt pay me to watch a musical.

You took a Billion dollar IP and made it a musical.

The fuck did they think would happen?

Hated the first joker but props to them for getting that bag and making a musical lol

You guys actually need to watch this movie to see that it's actually not a musical. All this talk of this movie being a musical has me imagine the Sound of Music or Pirates of Penzance or Phantom of the Opera or the South Park movie with the Blame Canada song and things like Willy Wonka film with Timothy Chalamet, I had no idea that was a musical until I saw it.

Yet curse whoever said Joker 2 is a musical and got others thinking that it is because it isn't. Did you not see the first movie where he was doing things like going down the stairs and he was imagining the song playing? It's much like that. Arthur meets Lee in a singing class and so at other points in the film he imagines him singing either by himself or with her. It is not full of singing, and no other characters sing.

I watched the first one and thought it was just ok. What exactly was the problem with this one?

The 1st one was amazing. WTF happened?

Maybe watch it to see what the problem is? It doesn't actually give people the Comic book movie they were expecting. It is not a Bonnie and Clyde tale. Arthur is not going on a rampage after seemingly becoming Joker in the first. He is not some big kingpin of crime. The movie is full of court room and prison scenes, and just not what you'd really expect in a sequel least of all a 'comic book movie' and I hate to call it that because it is like it doesn't like its comic book links and tries to rid itself of them.

It's kinda like it didn't need to be made. Yes there are people who like the film but if people think they're in for a 'comic book movie' in watching this they're likely going to be disappointed.
