Some of these mixes are weird as fuck, maybe it's meant to sound really rough on some tracks?

it's hard to be a fan of this guy's music in 2019... but somehow I still am

it reminds me of Prince's 'The Rainbow Children' album.

they both have beautiful music with overly preachy lyrics that are embarrassing at some times and compelling and interesting at others. i think the gospel tracks are overall more interesting than the parts that sound like 'ye' pt. 2...

i feel guilty for enjoying this, but I do see what he's going for

it really is incredible that kanye has been doing his sunday service thing all year and his lyrics remain so surface level basically the whole album is. Conceptually it feels half-assed in everything besides production even then the mixing WOOF.
Everything We Need was the only song that sounded decently mixed to me.
CLOSED ON SUNDAY DEF MAKES THIS YE'S WORST ALBUM YOU HATE SEE IT

Honestly, I just can't get over how fake and pandering this all is. And that's what it is. Guy made "I Love It" and put out PornHub merch like a year ago. Now he's putting out Jesus merch. Kanye is at the height of his near decade long carnie mode... Album on 1st listen (and likely last) is doo-doo.

I do love the old Kanye but this whole thing is really pretty gross.

I think the production sounds pretty decent but that's really it. Somehow worse than his last 2 albums which I didn't even like.

the Chik-Fil-A part made me physically stop what I was doing and pause for a sec

Spot on, completely nailed it. The lyrics are so incredibly surface level.

I'll never listen to this music in my car. I guess that's the album he was going for. An album you listen to when you feel like being a mindless, tasteless and corny drone. Next.

I like some songs and the production is great... but I can't get passed the overly religious lyrics. Will probably be the first Kanye album not in my rotation.

Finished my first listen and there's a lot I like here, but it doesn't feel finished.

Or, there's tracks on here that doesn't feel as ambitious as they could be.

Like the last song, "Jesus is lord", for example. It just stops, when it could've gone somewhere. It's like hitting pause on "Blood on the leaves" at 1:06, just before the beat drops, and calling it a day.

Had to stop for a work meeting at Water, but very little has grabbed me. I dug Selah, but I probably will need to give this a second listen.

Ignoring my own views on religion, this album might be one of his strongest in a while. He's actually rapping here with real flow, which I feel like I haven't heard since MBDTF and the production is fire. Not bad. Too short though

is it me or does use this gospel sound like dog shit. what the fuck???

the vocals for the verses aren't good. but even the saxophone... like are you supposed to hear the keys being hit like that? like idk. I'm not feeling it

rest of the album is fire so far though

love the line where he talks about being taxed to much and how he has to charge a lot for his stuff or else his family will starve

anyway, this is definitely a bottom 10 record for the year
