Not a comic reader, but

was it explained what exactly were Omni Man plans (duh, conquer Earth) and exactly why it should be done in such a convoluted way, faking being a hero for 20 years instead of going right away with it? It seems simple for his race to just slave planets, not pretending to be heroes.

It gets explained in the comic fairly early the mystery in the comic i don't remember being stretched out but hey seasonal television

But it'll likely get explained by the end of the season

This will definitely be explained and elaborated upon later on.

Yes, this is one of the big things about the series.

I kind liked the first episode, the next three were ok-ish with some great scenes, but this last one was really great. The final fight was incredibly brutal and went into directions I was not expecting at all. Really curious what's the deal with the Robot.

Also, the weird thing to talk about this is that I was going to say that I was wondering about something, but if it turns out to be true it might look that I already knew and am just "spoiling" things in the framework of a question.

My assumption is that he wants to recreate the hero team, but without what he perceives to be their personality defects. Like Rex for example, if he wasn't such an asshole loudmouth, he'd likely be a much more effective superhero and teammate.

No spoilers, but that ain't it.

Ah, I was planning to discuss the show here as I'm enjoying it, but it seems comic spoilers are openly allowed so nvm. Already read a couple of things I wish I had avoided...

We're only joking about Invincible crossing over with Spider-Man (and a guy who dressed like a Bat who calls himself...), which will NEVER happen in the show ever.

Wait, are people doing comic's spoilers in the open here?

Thx for the heads up.

This episode was my favorite so far, didn't see that final twist coming, i wonder why the Robot was so fixated on Monster Girl.

The Harley Quinn cartoon in HBO has solid artwork and animation. Nothing spectacular, but the bare minimum to be watchable and good. Straight up solid.

It just doestn make sense to me they would hire these actors for the voice and still cheap out so much on the art and animation. personally, i dont find it watchable. it looks like dog shit

Its just fucking terrible

I mean, these big companies, if you can hire Alex Kurtzman to make the worst fucking most embarrassing Star Strek shows of all time, nothing should surprise one

It doesn't look like dog shit at all.

It occured to me that
Battle Beast would have destroyed Nolan given his fight with the dude near the end

Yeah same. Shame, because there are things that make certain plot points kind of obvious. Wish it was show only. I guess it's always an issue when it's adapted from other material.

If it makes you feel any better, that Spider-Man/Invincible crossover isn't related to the main Invincible comic. I've actually never read it, funnily enough, and it's not part of the Invincible Compendium that I finished re-reading earlier this week. I think it was just a fun, one off thing Marvel and Image worked out, since Invincible was hot shit back then, and shouldn't have any relevance to the show. I highly doubt the animated series is going to adapt whatever that story was considering that it's dealing with a property they don't own. Hell, they already changed "Science Dog" to "Seance Dog," and they actually own the Science Dog IP! And I believe that's because they probably want to actually adapt Science Dog to animation/film at some point, and it's probably some weird legal shenanigans as to why they changed the name for Invincible.

I'm 3 episodes in and I'm really enjoying it so far. Seems like they are making small tweaks from the source, but nothing that's really surprised me so far. The voice cast continues to astound me. I cannot believe how much Amazon must have spent on this show.

I kind of imagine the art budget is fairly high here? There's tons of characters and scenes and camera changes relative to a traditional animated series.

The art's fine. It's not super involved and it's definitely What-You-Imagine-a-Superhero-Cartoon-Looks-Like, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. It portrays characters and action very well.

I have to admit that he show is quite uneven. Episode 3 was the worst, with some scenes like the dragon attack looking really bad. This last episode was solid however.
I think the only moment in the entire show I was taken out of due to the animation, was some flying scene when it looked like Mark was a still figure being moved up and down in the sky. I don't even remember what episode that was, might have been the first. Invincible isn't the best in terms of animation, but some one calling it dog shit is such an exaggeration.

Y'all don't know what dogshit can really look like

It feels like the production wavers between getting through the narrative and then putting effort into the action

Comic related but not to the show.

There are some spin-off's I'm seeing like "Guarding the globe", "Invincible Universe" and the spider-man thing posted above. Are any of those worth reading? Astounding-Wolf Man?

Oh yeah true lol
Really? That's good to know. Curious about how?
If you care to know
I'm still putting in SPOILER tags but I'm being vague about it
BattleBeast in the second half of the series fought and kept up with someone way stronger than Nolan
So yeah he likely would have destroyed Nolan

Coming from someone who read the full run we could definitely do with a book/show only thread split.

We did the same thing with Game of Thrones IIRC.

Agreed, particularly since they are making bold changes in the show. I don't want first time watchers getting spoiled, I also think there is a lot of discussion to be had on how different this show has been from the source.

With that logic Frozen was a hobby project since she clipped through her shoulder during the Elsa montage.
That shit is literally an X over a Female symbol in every single shot, they didn't put the lines of an atom on her model sheet?

It's really basic stuff like that which adds up.

There's also a scene where Cecil's scar is completely detached from his face the entire time he's talking.

I don't doubt it, but I haven't noticed this at all.

Rereading the comic first in a long time I'm surprised how much they changed in terms of plot

I won't say anything till the season end because they might bring up stuff latter snd will still be careful but it not boys level yet but they clearly made changes to better fit a serialized tv drama
