Nintendo Life and Push Square are part of the same network of websites. Is nintendolife more credible source for you?
What does this mean
no. though I think KS has a type of funding that allows for that? I know other platforms do. it's rarely used, and I don't believe PG will utilize it.So I've always wondered and I think I already know the answer, but if you give money to a kickstarter and it fails it's goal, they keep the money right?
There's a full-year number.5,258 units but a bomb nonetheless
14./00. [WIU] The Wonderful 101 <ACT> (Nintendo) {2013.08.24} (¥6.830) - 5.258 / NEW
No.So I've always wondered and I think I already know the answer, but if you give money to a kickstarter and it fails it's goal, they keep the money right?
doesn't ps4 make more sense? devs aren't going to stop releasing ps4 games for at least 1 or 2 years after ps5 is out, and every ps4 game will run on ps5 anyway. this way they have a way bigger userbase.
Thank you. I didn't knew that.Nintendo Life and Push Square are part of the same network of websites.
They're not wrong though. That game won't stay exclusive forever.
lol. if it helps, i consider nintendo life to be a garbage click-baity website too. guess it runs in the family.Thank you. I didn't knew that.
I'm sure it will come in handy in the future.
Nah that's Indiegogo. If the Kickstarter fails to reach its goal by the end date, every person that backed the project isn't charged. Kickstarter only charges you once the project has met its goal.So I've always wondered and I think I already know the answer, but if you give money to a kickstarter and it fails it's goal, they keep the money right?
So W101 doesn't count as a Nintendo game anymore? Nevermind it was fully funded and Nintendo partially owned the IP? 🤔All games that didn't bomb are Nintendo games. You're not making a good point. Major 3rd party published games bombed. It was absolutely the system fault.
Game data library lists as having 27.028 ltd. For comparison TMS is 23.806 first week with a ltd of 36.868. Bayo 2 is 33.114 first week and 48.462 ltd. There's a full-year number.
Media Create Sales: 2013 CY {2012.12.31 - 2013.12.29}

Nintendo probably isn't giving up ownership, or at the very least retains first right of refusal for sequels, which might explain why no other publisher was willing to touch this.If W101 surprisingly does well multiplatform do you guys think Nintendo would pay to get the sequel exclusive?
Atlus is releasing P5S in about 2 weeks. TMS release was likely timed to build up to that.Considering how many DS -> 3DS ports Atlus put out, (and the 3DS has BC, so you already could play all of those games on the system) it might have been more of an Atlus decision. Obviously Nintendo had some involvement, but it feels like Atlus just wanted to get something out on the system while SMT5 takes 700 years to create.
that's just japan tho, my guess is both TMS and bayonetta 2 did far better outside japan. we know bayo 2 on wii u did around ~300K a few weeks after launch.Game data library lists as having 27.028 ltd. Out of all of W101 was the worst selling but the one with the best legs. I wonder what did it, maybe it was heavily discounted or something?

Edit: And that's with a launch shipment of 30.000 units (source)
That probably includes some random digital estimate. Not sure where they got that from.Game data library lists as having 27.028 ltd. For comparison TMS is 23.806 first week with a ltd of 36.868. Bayo 2 is 33.114 first week and 48.462 ltd.

Yeah, it hurt everyone involved. Retailers included.yowza.

Safe to say even including digital it never hit 30K in Japan.
You should stop making threads and comment on threads by them then.lol. if it helps, i consider nintendo life to be a garbage click-baity website too. guess it runs in the family.
I know that. I'm just using as a point of comparison since we are talking about Japan sales in the other posts.that's just japan tho, my guess is both TMS and bayonetta 2 did far better outside japan. we know bayo 2 on wii u did around ~300K a few weeks after launch.
Yeah, I do wonder where the numbers come from in this case. With that said it sadly did do pretty abysmally, even if we compared to other Wii U games. That probably includes some random digital estimate. Not sure where they got that from.
Nintendo uses Media Create for sellthrough, not Famitsu.

That list is Nintendo published titlesIt's not Mario or Zelda. Look at that list. Out of 18 how many games on that list that aren't Nintendo old franchises?
There's a good chance that Platinum will thank Nintendo somewhere in the Kickstarter for their help.
But yeah, the IP has changed ownership.
No, Kickstarter takes the money only if the project is funded. So I've always wondered and I think I already know the answer, but if you give money to a kickstarter and it fails it's goal, they keep the money right?

It still feels weird though. When you look at the, by the time being, almost 1400 Spirits on SSBU and see the plethora of dormant IPs which they still hold and yet they gave up on this one but hold a lot of others.
I remember someone in the Smash thread yesterday calling the Direct thread crazy for entertaining the idea of Kickstarter. Womp womp lolThis is going to be interesting to watch.
(I peeked into the Direct Thread and saw discussions about W101, so this news isn't as surprising as it must be to people who didn't know.)
Splatoon, Lego City Undercover, Wii Party U, Pikmin 3 (depending on what you consider "old")...It's not Mario or Zelda. Look at that list. Out of 18 how many games on that list that aren't Nintendo old franchises?
There's been a lot of speculating that they did, but no one knows for sure. Where did Platnium get the money to buy it if they have to kickstart a port? It doesn't make sense. A special arrangement was almost certainly made.
Define "fine" lol. 250k doesn't sound "fine" even for the Wii U.
I do know you like to call out. Like you called [mod edit: off-site drama removed]
