Cool. I wonder if it can cause issues. Didn't Bloodborne get patched to kick you out of the game in sleep mode because it caused memory leaks if you kept using it for too long?
The only reason I hate the lack of pause is because I can't even take a dump or answer the phone while playing these games.
Ooooh, I see what you mean now. Actually killing the process instead of quitting through the menu.Fromt the video, it looks like you wake it up and it says press buttons to wake up. Can you not quit a game from that menu instead of just booting back in?
I don't like it. For me at least, one of the fundamental gameplay elements with Soulsborne is that you can't pause the game.
Play a different game or suck it up!I can not believe there are people who complain.
And if you have to get off the bus while you play what alternative you propose.

if you play dark souls wrong you get your gamer's license suspended sorryI can not believe there are people who complain.

Git gud in playing the game while dodging cars. And if you have to get off the bus while you play what alternative you propose.

how so? what does not-pausing do for the game?I don't like it. For me at least, one of the fundamental gameplay elements with Soulsborne is that you can't pause the game.

Cant you just press home and it do the same thing? On any console?
You dodge roll out of the bus, those iframes will save you and your Switch but make sure it isn't fat rollI can not believe there are people who complain.

Makes it so you're never safe.
It might just be a slightly quicker variation of what people do. They just get to the menu and quit before death comes haha.Ooooh, I see what you mean now. Actually killing the process instead of quitting through the menu.
Good point.
it also makes it so you never progress
Right, but it functions differently compared to the other console sleep modes.OP, you messed up the title lol!
It's sleep mode. It's a standard OS feature. It's not in a game pause technically.
I mean, I've only played bloodborne, but that game at least had tons of places where you can stand and take a breather. Is Dark Souls different?
So you can't put your console to rest and pick up later?Nope, at least on PS4 souls games keep running in the background
No, but the idea is you have to get to those places first to take that breather. You can't just create a safe spot out of thin air to collect your thoughts, or look up a strategy for the enemy you're in the middle of fighting.I mean, I've only played bloodborne, but that game at least had tons of places where you can stand and take a breather. doesn't that make the game much less tense? i wouldn't like it at all. it's cool to have a game where you can't do that and you're forced to fight enemies/bosses with no escape.
"Prepare to Die"so you're playing dark souls on transit. you're near your stop, the last checkpoint was quite a while ago. better miss your stop instead of pausing because it's less tense.
You can in the game's offline mode, so I don't see what's different here.
I love it when Dark Souls elitists alternative to this is always "Don't play Dark Souls!"Play a different game or suck it up!
Dark Souls not giving a fuck about you is half the point.

I seriously hope not.
yea, I phrased my original statement to exclude online-enabled place since that's the only legitimate reason. I remember playing Phantasy Star Universe's story mode, being pissed that you couldn't pause, which was a big oversight to meThe not-pausing is there because you might be invaded if you are playing online, just like you can't pause in most multi-player games.
Why you can't pause while playing offline is probably the developers trying to keep the experience consistent, but I have really never seen a reason for not being able to pause when offline, specially when the alternative (quit to menu) can be so easily exploited.
