I wont be the first one to say no to more western reps in smash but blizzard is not the first company id jump to when Crash and Spyro are ripe for the picking.
Oh if I could get Spyro in this game...

Morgan FreemanYup. No idea who I would pick besides him though. As far as being iconic. Not even sure I'd go for Diablo (or a Diablo character), Tracer, or any other Blizzard character first. Deckard Cain would be fun as an assist trophy though!
If we're talking about fitting with the overall Smash universe and artstyle though, I'd probably go with LucasArts point n' clicks. The more I think about it, the more I'm liking the idea of having Guybrush Threepwood in there. I know it's never going to happen, but it's fun to entertain anyway. Going back to Blizzard, the Lost Vikings are a great fit.
I called Deckard Cain in Smash like 2 days ago.
Deckard Cain identifies trouble!
or
Deckard Cain Stays awhile and listens!
Any company executive who declined such a request would be crucified by rabid fanboys once word got out.At this point I feel like Nintendo can choose whatever franchise they want to include in smash with no outside resistance lol
EA has characters?
Monster Hunter, Resident Evil (even 7), Megaman, Megaman X, street fighter are all out on switch. They arent supporting it as much as they could but its not like they are absent.Blizzard, bethesda and ubisoft should have more representation than fucking capcom
At least they support the switch
I've been watching Japanese reactions to the Smash direct (because Youtube started recommending them to me) and more and more I am convinced a unique character doesn't get in without wide international appeal whereas Echoes and Assist Trophies are used for characters with fairly regional appeal.
Ridley being the exception.
I was honestly surprised with how consistent the excitement for K. Rool was.
See, my counterpoint to that is that I've consistently seen that exact same reaction from western viewers in their late teens/early 20s.Almost every single one I watched (maybe 10+ reaction vids) had absolutely no idea who Simon and Richter Belmont were, even though Castlevania is one of those Japanese classics. Many of them didn't even know what Castlevania/Akumajou Dracula was. Granted, I'm sure many of those people are fairly young, but if you're enough of a gaming enthusiast to watch reveal trailers of a game that celebrates gaming history and to put your reaction online, it's still weird.
CloudNo thanks.
You can't just throw out a late ass port onto a Nintendo system and earn a coveted spot in Smash.

Basically, Simon is an old person pick. We're old.
I'm not even the biggest fan of them or Bayonetta getting in either.
The other two are moral victories for Nintendo though as those characters were both hugely instrumental in shaping Playstation's image and success.
So I appreciate them getting in from that standpoint, but I still can't shake that they're actually more associated with PlayStation so they don't really fit. Snake at least had some NES games and Twin Snakes. As for Cloud I would much rather have an FF character that has more significance for Nintendo like Cecil, Moogles, Black Mages, Terra, Locke, etc.
Bayonetta represents nothing except for an obvious attempt to get a niche/hardcore character for the brownie points. And I'm sure she was easier to get than a buncha other alternatives.
Chill. Did you read the article ? Gameinformer ask them "if one of your character could be in Smash, who would you like it to be ?", and their answer is "Diablo". They did not straight up said "we want Diablo in Smash !" a la Team Meat style, and they couldn't say "we don't want any of our character in smash" because it would be pretentious as fuck. Chill man.No thanks.

Fuck that.
And this speaks nothing of the quality of the game, the port, or whether or not I'd actually like to see that or not. I would, but as I said, I don't think they've earned that yet. And I had a funny feeling something like this would be the case. Plus I don't really know of any super iconic Diablo character, nor do I think they would even fit in well with Smash.
And I say this as someone who's excited for Diablo 3 on Switch.
Why not Jim Raynor or Kerrigan?
They have appeared in a Nintendo Console before
I vote for this.
