Ryan Coogler's reoccurring theme of dealing with the fallout of the loss of a major masculine figure in his character's lives
they probably did it to distinguish it from the Atlantis of Aquaman.
I do not envy the writers who had to rewrite this after the loss of there lead. Hopefully they werent rushed by studio heads.

I would wager the whole plan from the start was to root Atlantis with Aztec/Mayan civilization and the casting of Tenoch was partially because of that
Give whoever decided to transition into Kendrick Lamar at the end a fucking raise! I have a lot of doubts about this movie, but man that's a good trailer!
I highly doubt he was the reason. I think Coogler or someone in the MCU came up with a good idea and made Namor into what he is in the MCU and they casted accordingly.
Chills. Beautiful stuff. Might just topple GotG2 as my favorite MCU film. I just hope Shuri doesn't ruin this for me.
