Depends if you have a history of being a stan I guess? It's not like people can check post histories in here. For a guy who has made a ton of posts in like, 3-4 different Musk threads in the past week, being very loud and often aggressive and talking down people and whining about the "Musk hate" and so on, that seems like a stan to me. A person with no investment wouldn't care to go to bat for a billionaire being shat on in a gaming forum. Obviously you care about defending him and talking down people who make fun of him or hate on him. Or you don't value your time and spend a lot of it posting about stuff you don't actually care about? Sus.
alright, I'm going to reply to this one in detail because I have always enjoyed your posts + what you've done for both communities over the many years. plus I think there is an issue that pretty much every mod + admin here has been dodging for the last few weeks/months.
for the record, I've posted in 2 Musk threads in the last week (extensively); this and the one about Flint. if you read my posts in the Flint one, you'd see clearly I'm not going out to bat for anybody. I don't care enough about Musk, or any figure, to go out and bat for them. If you go and check my post history in detail you'll, see I post exclusively in like 3 threads, all having to do with Japanese learning. I don't venture out into OT as I've done in these 2 threads unless I feel there is a good reason.
What I did do in that thread is call out everybody who felt the need to add to that thread exclusively to shit on Musk. In a thread about him tweeting to help out Flint (the topic). The only reason you should have been posting in that thread would be to discuss the TOPIC, instead, it's somehow fair game to derail the thread with poor drive-by posts that amount to "fuck Musk" and "the submarine was a lie!!" and "he abused his ex-wife!" etc etc. All those things very well may be true, but they don't have anything to do with the topic, aside for involving Musk. Which just is not enough to warrant those types of responses. Posts and behaviour like that is exactly what fucked up GAF; it was literally all or nothing, black and white. You had to be on one side, or you were the enemy. And the exact same thing is starting to happen here, and I saw that in that Flint thread, and I called it out. Of course, because I went against the grain, and the majority currently wants to shit on Musk, that got lost and I got labelled a stan, or shill. Real nice.
Now we are in this thread, where it's become very clear Musk is unhinged. And it's worse - now there's indisputable proof the dude is dirt, so it's a free for all to just shit on Musk. Why should a thread like this even be open? It's just a dog-pile, it's just festering hate and negativity. But it's A-OK because the dude is an asshole? That's so messed up, and just helps perpetuate the negativity here, reinforcing the idea that it's OK to post shit as long as you're on the right side. That fucking sucks, and so I called it out here again. And of course, like clockwork, I get called a stan.
Let me make it clear in case it isn't clear enough - I don't give a flying fuck about Elon Musk. My issue is with encouraging and enabling people to just shit on things because we all agree they are bad. We are better than that, surely? I shouldn't have to say "I think Elon Musk is a dickhead too. But can we just stop shitting on him for the sake of it?" every time I post. You don't get to just call somebody a stan or a shill because they think the opposite of you. Before the conversation has even started, you've already written the other poster off. If you want to think it, think it. But if you're going to post it...surely the mods and admin team should be curbing that kind of discourse? I shouldn't have to click report on every post and write an explanation as to why it stinks - for the record I haven't clicked report on any of people who decided to call me a stan with nothing to back it up. Coz it's not going to change anything. That posting attitude is on yourselves. Just think next time - would I say this out loud? Would I do this at work? ...most likely not.
Anyway, that's all I have to say on the matter. Don't just call people a stan or shill because they're not coming out and saying "fUCK MUSK!". Don't just assume the worst in people. I'm not looking down on anybody because I'm no better than anybody here. But fuck, people, don't fucking engage in the same negativity that totally fucked up the last community.
Also, yes yes to everybody that @'d me, I shouldn't have said the fucky words so many times. I'm Australian, I still don't think it's uncivil.
