Not sure if they've been out long but this is the first time I've seen merch for Part 2 in the wild, McFarlane figures. Guess it was to tie in closely with the original release date. 😥

A few updates from the CCXP panel:

  • Rebecca Ferguson says Part Two is gonna be bigger than you can imagine in a new featurette which showed wars and giant bombings. Timothe says the movie will achieve Villeneuve's complete vision.
  • Zendaya was glad to spend more time on set for Part Two, compared to the 1 week she spent on the first movie. There's much more Chani in Part Two.
  • Denis Villeneuve states Part Two is the "main course." Part One was an appetizer. "It's more muscular [than the first one]. The film also brings a beautiful love story" - Denis Villeneuve.
  • Attendees gets to watch the first 10 minutes of the movie.
  • Description of first 10 minutes and 2 additional scenes: "Intense action scenes, romance between Paul and Chani, Paul riding a worm for the first time."

And some new details from Total Film's article:

  • Chani will become the point-of-view character the more the movie progresses.
  • "I think it's a much more emotional experience, and one of - if not the - most emotional movies I've made." - Denis Villeneuve.
  • Denis will beef up the presence of Jessica and the Bene Gesserit compared to the book. "At the end of the day, Jessica is the puppet master of this story.

He's also said that he's much happier with Part Two than Part One:

For me, this film is much better than part one. There's a relationship to the characters. I was trying to reach for an intensity and a quality of emotions that I didn't reach with part one and that I did reach with part two. I won't say the film is perfect, but I'm much more happy with part two than I was with part one.

Denis Villeneuve Confirms ‘Dune: Messiah’ Script is “Almost Finished” — World of Reel

This morning, Denis Villeneuve confirmed his plans to make “Dune: Messiah” during a press conference in South Korea. Although a screenplay is being worked on, Villeneuve isn’t sure when he’ll be shooting the film.

didn't realize he already finished the script for Dune messiah, thought he was just hinting tha he'd also want to do it if given the chance. Really nice, might actually get it!

I will always be upset they made this an MMORPG....The Dune IP would have been perfect if given to Larian or CDPR...Set it during Leto II's era during his 3000 years of peace and it can allow for branching storylines based on his prescience with the goal of trying to kill the God Emperor.

You mean the re-release of the first film tonight? If so, I'd probably choose 4K Laser, only because the 15/70 film print will likely be a print from the original run (I doubt they printed new reels for this re-release) and who knows what condition it's in (though to be fair IMAX prints do tend to stand up to wear better than normal commercial 35mm prints in the past, in my experience anyway).

Sorry if asked but is it true that part 2 will only be shown in London IMAX in the UK?

Trying to find info on Manchester and having no luck. I really hope that's not true, I've been looking forward to it.

I really doubt it? The first film was successful so why wouldnt it come to other IMAX around the UK

Bummed to hear there's no back-to-backs happening. Got my tickets for the 29th. This theater has no reserved seating though so I'll have to be there like 2-hours early to get a good seat

it'd never happen, and i'm not sure if even WANT it to happen, but man… seeing what this production team did with the Baron scenes in 1, can you even imagine what they'd do with the imagery of God Emperor of Dune? it'd be wild.
