There's been a whole thread on Haru with plenty disagreeing with that takeaway and pointing out why. The only concession is that they could've and should've brought her in earlier in the story. It's a great game, but it gets a little long in the tooth and some characters (Haru, basically) feel inconsequential and add little to the game.
Not really. The worst of it was during the Kamoshida arc at the beginning of the game. The rest of it seemed typical for an Atlus localization, minus the dumb decision to make the VAs say last names wrong because that was how Atlus Japan thought Americans would say them. Its one of the best JRPGs ever made. That said, I played it in Japanese, so I'm sure the translation issues significantly hampered enjoyment of the game when it was released in the West.
I called it homophobic garbage actually. You didn't see the BOTW/Nier/P5 thread? People were straight up calling it garbage :P
Sure. And I don't agree, I don't think she added much to the game at all. Maybe if she had been added in earlier in the game she would've felt like a more substantial inclusion, but they also could've just removed her entirely. There's been a whole thread on Haru with plenty disagreeing with that takeaway and pointing out why. And then the personal motivation to target Okumura specifically would've been...? Not exactly anything at stake/a reason for a deadline with him otherwise. Removing her entirely would've also meant less options among party members in combat, her Psy and gun skills making her quite useful. And with her Confidant being one of the best ones in the main group, omitting her would've been even more of a shame.Sure. And I don't agree, I don't think she added much to the game at all. For a game that is as long as Persona 5 already is, I think the entire Okumura portion could be removed entirely. That's true about Psy skills, but considering how useful they are and how long it is before she joins the party you already have those skills covered by the MC.And then the personal motivation to target Okumura specifically would've been...? The game would be fairly different without her, I just think the game could've used some trimming in general and that section of the game is the most obvious place to trim.

Except the Okumura portion
is specifically the one where the Phantom Thieves start to seriously question what they've been doing and where public opinion begins to turn on them after their popularity had been on the rise. Getting rid of that altogether would once again lead the story they told to no longer work.
That story beat could be done in many ways.Except the Okumura portion
Psy skills are no more or less useful than any other element in P5, with enemies weak to it being quite common from that point onward. And the point of having dedicated users of specific elements in the party is to conserve resources for Joker when possible.is specifically the one where the Phantom Thieves start to seriously question what they've been doing and where public opinion begins to turn on them after their popularity had been on the rise. They did, yet again that doesn't give them a deadline where anything personal is at stake. They could've just as well gotten around to it whenever they felt like it, rather than making him an immediate priority.they choose to target okamura because of a poll on their website.
this bit of the story already doesn't work.
Yet they didn't, and as such getting rid of what they did go with only leaves a void that has to be filled by a hypothetical scenario in its place.
