I'm a "Halloween" guy. I keep decorations up all year long. I've got a Friday the 13th themed living room and all. That said, I'm just as big a sucker for Christmas. My kids love 'em both, too.
This week I've been finding myself listening to a lot of old Laser Time Podcast Christmas episodes, and the occasional Christmas song. Was watching an AVGN Christmas episode playlist before work yesterday.
Money's a little tighter this year than usual due to my girlfriend just getting sorted in her new job after finishing school, so I've been having to help her out. I've had to tell the kids to keep their expectations in check. Usually I get pretty dumb with buying them stuff. They're pretty cool about it.
Christmas has always been a nice, mellow season to me. I enjoy its nostalgic, bittersweet side. Usually the kids and I will gather around and play some retro games. Mario and Streets of Rage 2 and such.
Of course, being in Florida, we don't get snow. We've had a few chilly nights already, though, and we look forward to the weather really changing in the coming weeks.
Yeah, I always get excited for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas but it's always sort of a let-down, too.
