Spiderverse still better than anything Kevin Feige ever made. Rothman and Feige should have trusted Tom Hardy on making Venom a gonzo comedy.

It was bound to happen. The success leads to arrogance and eventually Sony would want to take that success and expand it accordingly to fit its needs. Sucks Spider-Man probably won't be in anymore MCU movies.

The 3 best Spiderman movies aren't MCU movies so the loss of Disney certainly doesn't bother me.
Hell Venom was more enjoyable than Homecoming.

This has to go back into negotiation. There's no way both sides are stupid enough to leave it at that.

The spiderman movie franchise would be basically dead if not for Disney. I dont know about 50 50 but Disney is basically the only reason this series exists

Amazing Spider-Man 2 despite relative fatigue and middling impressions still made $700 million world wide. A Venom solo movie just made $800 million world wide. The property is definitely elevated being associated with the MCU, but it would be far from dead.

Huh, I could have sworn Spider-Man 3 was part of that original deal... can't help but laugh though, so many people said it was impossible, Sony would never do something like that!

Sucks, because they were building to a pretty cool Sinister Six movie. Might still be good. I mean, Spider-Verse was good!

Disney which makes a bazillion dollars on everything wanted 50%. The house of mouse is greedy. But then they do own the MCU. Tom Holland just lost that Disney exposure which hurts him the most

Disney fucked this up, of course Sony wouldn't agree to a 50/50 split, that's completely insane.

This news is not great. Both studios need to get their heads out of their egotistical asses.

Read the OP and production deals for the Spiderman movies. This is literally a case of Disney being greedy and Sony walking away because they are literally the ones bankrolling the film.
The entire point of this discussion where things broke down was about them co-financing the films. The problem is that Disney wanted to split it 50-50 and Sony wanted to go 95-5.

So I guess they'll just pretend Tony Stark never existed. Outside of time travel, how do you do that? The MCU aspect is so ingrained with Spiderman now.
I'm guessing reboot?

"I'd like to see a MCU Spider-Man movie where Tony Stark isn't so central to the plot"

Sony: "I got you fam".
