I hope CDPR manages to let their devs have their Christmas break and not go into full-on crunch mode right away speed up the process.
Yeah sure, more likely Cyberpunk coders getting a case of Red Bull for xmas and a desk-sized sleeping bag.Realistic time for re-certifcation is probably either after the announced big January or February patch, right?
I hope CDPR manages to let their devs have their Christmas break and not go into full-on crunch mode right away speed up the process.
Didn't help it actually turn profit, did it. It got panned and clowned on about as hard as CP2077, and it fucked the reputation of the studio making it as well but in addition it was a commercial failure. At least CDPR can cry into its millions.
This is what happens when you have poor leadership.I still do not understand anything about the strategy with this game. That original april date was clearly not even remotely realistic, which then had them get egg on their face with multiple delays...and it's still in an awful spot.
They just never needed to commit to 2020, the game was going to be big no matter when it released, now they're hurting longer term sales while being pressured to fix the mountains of bugs.

To be fair, my experience of ACV was pretty glitchy that I couldn't complete one of the final missions and a NPC got frozen. That said, it was moderately fun, and it sounds small time, compared to whatever management led to Cyberpunk ending up like this.Who knew Assassin's Creed: Valhalla would turn out the better open world game this holiday season.
Holy shit HOW do you fuck something up this bad. I don't recall GTAV or RDR2 being this messy at launch, quite the opposite actually.
So, Bioware?CDPR is not the same company after this, there's most liekly going to be shit tons of resignations and restructuring, so sure, they sold a bazillion copies, but as a studio they have completely and utterly failed.
I think management fostered a 'bro gamer' vision for the whole company starting from PR. The whole 'Dear gamers' in the official statements, how they position themselves as 'pro gamers' unlike other companies, etc...
That affected the whole development of CP2077 since it seems to be made with those kind of gamers in mind: is juvenile, edgy and cool while avoiding a good chunk of what the Cyberpunk is about. The cringe sex scene that seems to be made by 13 year old people that I watched yesterday reinforces that.
I'm not saying no dev at CDPR is transphobic, but the vision for CP2077 and what it represents does not come from devs it comes from management.
I don't remotely understand the Polish business environment so forgive my ignorance but: if this does not, in fact, kill CDPR (or force it to be absorbed into Microsoft etc) how do the CEO, senior leadership etc survive this fiasco? No way they're not replaced, right? Would investors not demand it?
Absolutely, It was at the time and in retrospect even more so. Bravo RockstarRockstar Games deserves all the credit for their perfectionism. RDR 2 on a base PS4 and GTA V on a PS3 is nothing but pure magic.
They still sold 4 million copies on PC on day 1. They also had recent success with Witcher 3 because of the Switch port and the Netflix series. GoG also exists and is still popular for DRM free games. They will survive this and hopefully a lesson was learned.I don't remotely understand the Polish business environment so forgive my ignorance but: if this does not, in fact, kill CDPR (or force it to be absorbed into Microsoft etc) how do the CEO, senior leadership etc survive this fiasco? Why would this kill them, or "force" them to be absorbed by Microsoft? What a weird thought.I don't remotely understand the Polish business environment so forgive my ignorance but: if this does not, in fact, kill CDPR (or force it to be absorbed into Microsoft etc) how do the CEO, senior leadership etc survive this fiasco? it's a corporation
It rather depends on how big a share of the company the original founders and current management still control. If it's significant / majority control, then they're unlikely to voluntarily stand down. If they're minority shareholders, then the odds are pretty good the board will vote them out.I don't remotely understand the Polish business environment so forgive my ignorance but: if this does not, in fact, kill CDPR (or force it to be absorbed into Microsoft etc) how do the CEO, senior leadership etc survive this fiasco? Sorry, I guess I just assumed if the company got into sufficiently dire straits there'd be some sort of acquisition. It is a massive leap, tbf.Why would this kill them, or "force" them to be absorbed by Microsoft? What a weird thought.
That sounds awful. I had loads of technical issues with Assassin Creed Valhalla, it would crash about every 5 a half hours for me, and that was annoying enough because I kept thinking it would crash just as I cleared a fort or defeated a boss, (a bit of anxiety lol) Every half an hour, whoa. I don't know how you could concetrate on the gameplay, and enjoy it with that consistency of crashes.Just submitted a request. I'll be honest, I put about 20 hours into it on the PS5 and was enjoying it to an extent; however the frequent crashes (I mean every half an hour) became too much.

I find this constant connection of Slavs with potatoes really distasteful. Shame on you.
I'm not versed in the Cyberpunk series, but I doubt it's part of the source material based on what Mike Pondsmith has said in interviews.By the way. Legit question. Why is transphobia so apprent in CP2077 but not in Deus Ex or say Blade Runner? Is it because of the source matierial ? I know that CP is a table top game. Was transphobia also a huge point there or did CDPR force it in ?
Yeah, they're essentially as exploitative as the corporations their game "critiques". They just want to titillate people with substandard porn.Transhumanism is a fairly important aspect of Cyberpunk and a big influence (same with Dues Ex), but it's generally a very cynical take (like it has with pretty much everything) and ultimately not the point, it's just 1 aspect of it's society, people can and do change any and all aspects of their physical body. CDPR interpretation of that is to do a bunch of transphobic shite.
Unfortunate advertising alert. The irony of the "Eurogamer recommended" logo and the XBOX adverts on the same page as the headline.
To get in first: I highly rate Eurogamer (and have no beef with Microsoft), but can't ignore the irony of it all.
I listened to some of that investor call and woof...just the brazen incompetence of upper management going ahead with the base console releases.
So does CDPR management have a board of directors they have to answer to? I can't imagine this whole situation not having more than a few heads rolling. Company clearly needs a major shakeup in upper management.
And just like that, Cyberpunk became an Xbox console Exclusive... For the time being.
I wouldn't want to do the job, and says what deserves to be sold, but I think they should have a bit more quality control, than "it doesn't destroy ther consoles."I think this is overkill and uncalled for... the physical copies are still floating around. I thought things like this only happen if it's literally bricking consoles
I get that. But I feel if the game was really in tatters, MS and Sony should never have allowed it to release until it was up to scratch. But that Christmas sales % was just too strong....I wouldn't want to do the job, and says what deserves to be sold, but I think they should have a bit more quality control, than "it doesn't destroy ther consoles."
Is gog.com worse than Windows Store? Why would MS spend billions of dollars to buy a company that make one game every 5-6 years and who own a distribution platform that MS doesn't need.
They will fully allowed themselves to be duped. They should have known something was up when they weren't given console versions to review.Press were duped like the consumers by being shoehorned into the PC version for review. I do think a lot of them should still make an edit to the reviews with a disclaimer explaining the state the base console versions are currently in.
The Xbox Twitter account hasn't even acknowledged the game at all in the past few days. Kind of doubt they do it now due to the giant elephant in the room. And just like that, Cyberpunk became an Xbox console Exclusive... For the time being.
Unfortuanately I don't think is will be the first nor will it be the last. Skyrim PS3, Asssassin Creed Unity, to name a couple, this sounds worse tbf with crashes.I get that. But I feel if the game was really in tatters, MS and Sony should never have allowed it to release until it was up to scratch. But that Christmas sales % was just too strong....
They don't validate for "runs great" or "doesn't crash" they validate for "does not brick your expensive toy." You know, the shit they could maybe get sued for.The real question is how Can a game release in such a poor state ? Don't Sony and MS have to validate before a game releases ?
