here
one thing im gonna miss with Biden is his appeal with the working class and pro-union types

Harris needs to show up strong to them pushing that she'll continue Bidens pro-union agenda

I will say this, underestimate black women at your own peril. We have, oh, all of history behind that one.

Has any news outlet taken the opportunity yet to both point out that Trump is now the oldest nominated presidential candidate ever and also use a picture of him asleep somewhere?

But also, the genocide.

Unfortunately, people like you and me are in the severe minority. It sickens me to see that the person directly responsible for genociding tens if not hundreds of thousands of people will be remembered as a "hero".

Glad he's no longer be able to become a president, at the very least.

It was the worst pick he could have made. Vance appeals to Trumps base and no one else.

Really a baffling choice, one that I suspect would cause him great grief in the future.

People/media trying to look for reasons not to vote for Kamala now that they can't use the Joe Biden is old excuse.

Well at least people can't say it's a race between two old white guys anymore.
But then again, Trump won against a woman candidate before. This is worrisome.
The Republicans and the media got to smear Hillary for two whole decades beforehand, along with her name being tied to her husband's actions in office.

Everyone was completely unprepared for the possibility of Harris, because nobody ever thought that a black woman would ever be allowed to go anywhere close to the seat of the President. She has none of the baggage that Hillary has, and every kind of attacking point that the GOP could attempt to use against her is also something that would energize the youth and minority vote to support her in droves instead.

There should be a rule on Era where "We don't talk about Bruno."

Loving all the meltdowns. Johnson and Gingrich saying that this is "a violation of democracy", Miller melting down (if only he did that literally, the creep), and the NYT calling for Biden's withdrawal for weeks/months and when it finally happened they now claim that the Democratic Party is unfocused. What a joke.

Oh, and then there's this absolute bootlicking loser.

It's a really endearing look. She's definitely kind of a dork, in a good "Leslie Knope" way like you said. I guess it comes with the territory when we get a candidate over 30 years younger..
I think people are desperate for a tonal shift as much as anything else. it's been a grim eight years between Trump's psychosis and Biden's apparent frailty.

its so lame and desperate. they ain't even hiding that they built their whole strategy around Biden with little by way of a contingency plan. none will be sharp enough to realise this is neither anywhere close to actual fraud, and that the dems have spent a ton more money propping up Biden than they ever did fighting him this election season

Good luck to Kamala in the task of beating Trump. He is far from invincible and if democrats stay united and focused they can win. Will be probably be close but they can do it, stay on message and run an energetic campaign with many events. Present an united front like in 2020.

Wishing the best for the future of the USA. Hopefully Trump is defeated once again and Republicans need to moderate themselves in the future instead of just running on being the party of Trump.

Feeling some hope about the future today. I've been putting off donating, but now's the time to support Harris.

Trump should pull a double-reverse card and drop out of the race, so they lose even more money.

What's the most up-to-date fundraising figure since Biden's announcement?
$73,257,481 for the week starting 7/21.

Gotta say If the democrats flip the "too old" issue around that would be quite funny.

The previous record day was on September 19, 2020, one day after RBG's death.

I remember that day well.

Already over $6 million has been raised today alone.

It's definitely satisfying to see Trump and the GOP panicking over this move.

I do find it really hilarious that Biden waited until the RNC was over before dropping out of the race. I have a feeling that was entirely intentional. Let them lock in Trump as their candidate, waste time and energy targeting Biden for their convention, with no attacks on Kamala (I didn't watch the RNC, so I have no idea if she was mentioned or not), and then drop out after. Just great timing lol

So now Trump has to face off against someone who is leagues smarter, more articulate, more experienced in both law and government, more personable, and just all around a better human being than he is. I'd definitely love to see them debate, but I imagine Trump is going to try to wriggle his way out of it unless he manages to get triggered if people start claiming he's afraid to debate her.

I'm sure it's already chewing at him that he never beat Biden, and now never will. I bet it's driving him crazy.

If he loses to Kamala this November, it might just finally do him in and break him. I know she's got my vote.

So, they are straight up admitting that campaigning isn't about your own policies and getting your message out. It's about smearing the opponent.

Non US citizen here, just curious

Even if Harris wins the vote, Trump is going to pull all the same stops he did back in 2020 isn't he? Call election fraud, constant recounting votes etc. I fear for the reaction his base will have if he loses. A second Jan 6 shouldn't happen.

I also don't understand the point of the electoral college, can they still just say 'no' to the result the people voted for? Hillary won the public vote and yet Donald got to be president due to the EC iirc? That's such bullshit lmao.

Trump isn't President any more, so he has a lot less power to do these things than he did in 2021.

The big, big difference between now and 2020/21 is that he's no longer President, so there's not a fear of the transfer of power, because he currently has no power (outside of inciting violence again, which of course he would still do).

I feel like there's more to this story than what we know. So odd Biden would just make the decision Sunday and then just tweet it out 20 minutes later without telling anyone

I think Biden's team and a lot of key Democrats had statements drafted up just in case Biden decided to drop out, but Biden didn't fully decide to drop out until Sunday. Then he basically gave the go-ahead to publish the already written statement.

Any MAGA accusing Democrats of "cheating" when Trump literally tried to ignore the results of the last election and change the outcome because he lost is such a disconnect from reality. Some people's brains have truly melted.
