You're looking for an android e-ink tablet like the boox ones
Kindle 3G was so good
Still nothing with page turn buttons, so I continue to stick with my Oasis for as long as I can. E-ink just isn't something I want to control entirely by touch right now, it's not responsive enough to be a touch-only interface.
This video goes into why eInk works the way it does but also showcases just how crazy of a technology it is. There's nothing like it.Why do ebook readers all look like tablets from ten years ago? I might be interested in one but I can't stand the look of them.
It's the size of the bezel that gets to me. I would love one of these where the e-ink display gets right to the edges of the device (or at least 2 or 3 of the edges). Have a touch-deadzone in the margins of the pages for our thumbs to sit and it would feel so much more like you're holding the page of a book.
The price difference between the kobo colour and kindle is mad!
And both are Kaleido 3 panels with the Kindle just having differences in the colour reproduction. Unless one loves the Amazon ecosystem that much I don't see why anyone would get the Colorsoft over the Libra. The price difference between the kobo colour and kindle is mad!
Gonna stick with Kobo myself because borrowing from the library only works in the US and I'm in Canada (and also the price and also fuck Amazon). But these are nice.I wonder how they compare to pockeboox and kobo color devices.
I ordered the new Paperwhite. They gave me 30 for my old one and by doing the trade-in they also added a 20 percent off a Kindle offer to my account. So the new one was about 60 dollars cheaper.
The email says December 15th. They already put the credit onto my account though, which is weird.
Going through the process, looks like 2 months from when you initiate it.
Boox also makes Oasis-sized and Scribe-sized e-ink android tablets as well
If all you do is sideload I would go for a Kobo. They have a mode that outright disables the store and account system, effectively transforming the thing into a old school ereader.I have like a third-gen Paperwhite, very old.
My question is, can current Kindles still be hacked/unlocked pretty easily? I've had mine offline for like a decade (keeps the ads out) and just sideload epubs to it with Calibre.
It's e-ink like the other kindles. How (and how well) the "colorsoft" tech exactly works, I got no idea.Does the color version screen still use the same screen or is it using like an iPad type screen? My guess is the former. Need to review the link. I still wish I read as much as I used to because I'd totally get a Kindle.

You can but don't expect the colours to pop out, it only does 4096 colours. Better than reading them in a regular BW ereader though.
"Today, all of our devices are touch-forward which is what our customers are comfortable with."
This is my issue. My battery is fucked and there is zero indication that Amazon care about physical buttons any more.Bummed there's no Oasis returning, but my current Oasis has a rapidly degrading battery so I will upgrade to this color one. Oh buttons how I will miss thee.
