How is the skill based matchmaking in this? As someone that is horrible at fighting games the games ability to match me with similarly skilled players is incredibly important.

Hit or miss honestly at first, either that or I'm really improving since I've been getting more fair rivals.
Fool around on Arcade, story and practice, jump into some casual marches in between, good way to gauge your progress.
Speaking of which, HOLY SHIT I just made this huge comeback with Black Goku, sparking blast is amazing.

So, um, what exactly does Golden Frieza do? Does it just make my regular attacks - punches, kicks, finger laser - more powerful?
I've got to say, I just love running with the villains! Frieza, Cell and Goku Black are my squad. I sometimes sub out Cell for Hit, even though I guess he technically isn't a villain.

I wish we could make an online room where we could go to the normal character select and swap characters between matches, like Local battle.
The Ring Match lobbies where you edit your team beforehand (or have to leave the rotation to edit your team) kinda sucks.

Cooler as DLC is awesome. Some of the best movies with him in it. Fucking pumped for Vegito as well. DBS 17 could have some fun dialog vs 18 so looking forward tot hat.

Team based fighting games are definitely not my jam, but I am trying to put in the elbow grease to make it work. However, trying to play something like Fighterz feels like starting over again. There is so much to keep track of. Sure, everything is easy to do, but there is so much of everything. I had the same problem with MvC3. Execution was never the issue, keeping track of everything is.
I don't agree, though. He's got a transformation and a couple of blasts. They've done more with less, but just going by numbers, Bardock has multiple transformations, future sight, and different blast types to work with. Even if he does nothing for you, personally. You don't have to attack him or pretend they're non factors to make a solid case for Zarbon. Both should be in.
Hope they don't get lazy with the interactions because it's DLC.

People destroy me even with auto combos, lol. I managed to win 2 times with someone who just played for the first time probably. And I seriously hate that my opponent see that i have ZERO wins. It puts me in this mindset "Oh great, now they see I'm trash and they must be super confident, they probably gonna win". And I loose of course.

Oh man... what a downgrade from the other list... Jeez. What an awful list. I am happy about 17, though. Slaythe deserves it!
Man, even bracing for disappointment, this list blows.
I feel like they kind of have to. Goku doesn't exactly have a lot unique in his base form to pull from. It's like that and Spirit Bomb.
They better at least do some stuff with Trunks and Zamasu. I can't believe they have nothing with him and Goku Black.
It's not really that bad imo until you get to the Base Goku and Vegeta. If those two were just about anyone else it'd be pretty good, especially considering that Broly, Bardock, and Vegito were always going to get in regardless.
But not only does it have those popular obvious characters, Zamasu, 17, and Cooler could all potentially have interesting/cool stuff.
They do have comments, at least from Black Goku's side, I guess if there are any dramatic finishes or intros, they're going to be attached to merged Zamasu, since he's the one that Trunks ultimately destroys.
Sorry I was hesitating a lot since I've recently bought SF V (even if different games I agree... both are fighters though) but what's the best choice if I want to go digital ?
Is the Special edition worth it? Standard but buy the code somewhere else than PS Store? (I'm on PS4 btw)

I won't be surprised if Trunks gets nothing, since to my knowledge (Unless he shows up in Story Mode of something) is Cell Saga Trunks.
Right but Trunks gets no special comment/line in his intro or win screen even. Yeah it's clearly Cell Saga Future Trunks, but they're also ultimately the same character. They could have done something.

The only thing I'd change from this list is Base Vegeta and 17 for Kefla and Janemba.

Goku Black in general doesn't seem to have much interaction with the rest of the cast. I've tried him out with a number of Z characters and even with assist call-outs they're either generic lines or strangely silent. Only one I remember him having any line for is saying Vegeta when you do the ki blast assist, but Vegeta himself doesn't reciprocate. Maybe the VAs for the super characters were recorded later? I dunno, but it's weird and kind of a turn off for playing him when I love little shit like that.
Yeah like in comparison, Cell has a bunch of lines with the cast. Like with Android 18, he'll be like 'I guess you can help' or when you're on the same team and swap in, it's like 'Android 18 is mine'. It's great.
Ah yeah, I meant I specify a team around Trunks. He's always been my favorite character so he's a must for my main at least.
I did like Adult Gohan in the beta. Won quite a few matches using him as an anchor thanks to Potential Unleashed.
Probably going to build my B team around him and Tien as I can see som good synergy there(I hope).
Once unlocked (it has to be unlocked for the first run), It starts without problem with the game barred from Internet. It tells you the game cannot connect, and then only the offline lobby is available.
I despise EAC, i HATE stuff that gets at kernel level and tries to inject into whatever it wants, open backdoor for nasty stuff.
Well, we are closer than you think. The only thing I would change is everything other than 17...
I would also probably (begrudgingly) keep Broly just because fans want him so desperately.
So... I can sorta see where you are coming from. I think 17 is a solid addition. I also think Cooler looks, well, cooler than most villains (especially in Super Shredder form). However, the base characters thing feels very silly, and worthy of heavy criticism. Also, it is hard not to feel like they are just completely spitting on Dragon Ball fans. Like, there is nothing here for the OG Dragon Ball fans at all.
I could see why some people would like it, but I am super, super happy I didn't buy that DLC pass. I will buy 17 and MAYBE Broly or Cooler if they bring something interesting to the table. I hope when they release the second season of characters they remember to give a shit about the series that started it all.

Kinda depends on how good you are though. If you are pretty good, then the matchmaking is working badly for those horrible players.
Managed to put in 8 hours today. This is very fun so far. I'm still trying to figure out how the game works and the timings for the strings, I'ts the first ArcSystems game I play for more than 5 hours (gg xrd), so I'm not used to all the air dashing shenanigans. I've been having fun with the combo trails (piccolos #10 was bit hard) and also just playing casuals. So far I've enjoyed playing Yamcha, Hit and Cell, but I'm still terrible, heh. I'll keep practicing.

I slept for 3 hours and all of them were dreaming about this game. Just testing shit with 21 and resetting over and over and over again, even the music was part of it. I hate this game, please leave me alone.
I need to test some stuff with 21 when I get home from work.
Does anyone know if you have time to do a power steal after a DHC if the first super is long enough? I think I'll end up playing 18/21/Vegeta, since I couldn't find a unique team for 21 and I didn't like Freeza or Beerus that much.

Assuming you are super fresh, the MOST important thing to work on when trying to improve at this game is to punish that Super Dash. So, go into training mode, set the enemy to Super Dash on repeat, and work on punishing with your crouching heavy attack (down and O on the PS4).
