-Not Justice League
-Probably a game about a group of superheroes that is GaaS driven.
So... At this point we have three options if all of this is true: the Titans, the Legion and the Lantern Corps.
And yeah, the latter would definitely be the best suited for the GaaS model since you have an unlimited reserve of nameless characters. But the Titans are definitely more popular. The Legion is the dark horse I guess.
Interesting, we'll see.

or they promised Jason an exclusive after he found out about the game from his sources and went to Rocksteady for comment. Rocksteady offered him an exclusive kotaku piece in exchange for keeping the lid on the game.

Also, has Jason said it's not Justice League? The new Superman game might have batman so Jason could have plausible deniablity.

Dude. Think about this for two seconds. One of the best known journalists in the industry for doing actual investigative articles is not going to burn his entire reputation by publicly lying in a very clear way, just for the sake of a single exclusive article. That is not even close to being realistic.

I think people have been conditioned to see everyone with information as "insiders" or "leakers". But journalists have actual reputations to uphold. If he's saying something, he's putting his reputation on the line. And given how big that reputation is, just accept that he knows what he's talking about, or at worst is accurately reporting what he's heard.

Is the recently greenlit 2018 project included in any of these two projects? I'm leaning towards their co-op open world game being Batfamily (rebooted Damian Wayne game) and their most recent project being a solo Superman title.
From what I've gathered, Batfamily would be a good guess. The Damian game was retooled and it could have easily been made into a MP Arkham game using the assets from their cancelled Suicide Squad game. It could also be a World's Finest game, but I think the Batfamily rumor is a safer bet, as WB loves to shove Batman down our throats.

As for the new project, I don't know which one Osama had started on, but he could've moved from the multiplayer one to a solo DC project, who knows. The initial linkedin profile that stated their first project was co-op stopped in June 2017, so it could have been retooled as well.

Something that I DID notice that I should point out, is that WB Montreal had listed that it needed a programmer for a next gen multiplayer new IP on its development team. I don't know whether that was for an in house project or if "development team" means that it was something outsorced. WB Montreal is a place where pretty much all the other WB studios outsource some of their stuff. A next-gen multiplayer new IP sounds like something any of the other studios could be working on, especially Rocksteady. It would be cool if someone smarter than me like Nirolak could chime in.

Other than that, Osama did let it slip that WB Montreal has a couple projects in development, he just didn't say which was which. Holding out hope for Superman.

-He has heard what their game is.
-Not Superman
-Not Justice League
-"All rumors he's heard are bullshit"
-Probably a game about a group of superheroes that is GaaS driven.
-"Don't think it's Batman related."

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Do I actually get my hopes up for Teen Titans.

........ I love Teen Titans :(

Not gonna get my hopes up.
At this point, why not? Everything else has been debunked and Titans are super popular right now.

Shame, it sounds like no Supes after all.
Honestly it might just be another Batman, seems like a safe bet for WB.

Maybe the current Heroes in Crisis mini is viral marketing for Rocksteady's game and this is the team we're gonna get:

375142-30074-titans-east.jpg

It's a Dark Souls-like and everyone plays as Lagoon Boy and dies all the time.
Once you die, you have to buy the game again.

That's fine with me, would get hyped about any of these (I'd get hyped about anything Rocksteady is working on, who am I kidding)

Let's hope it's not GaaS driven. I don't want to lose another good dev.

It could just be a new IP based in the DC Universe like Injustice and not be based on any current super team.

I'm sure I'm not alone on this one, but I find it next to impossible to gauge where WB Montreal may be in regards to a few of their in-house projects. So many projects have either been cancelled, rebooted or retooled that it's difficult to come up with a concrete answer. I also listened to the podcast where Osama mentioned that he's now working on a new project (greenlit Summer 2018). Would you or anyone else familiar with game development know if it's common for staff to switch teams mid-development? I doubt they're wrapping up their 1st game since that would indicate a release window within the next few months.

Do you mind if I break this off to a separate thread by the way, maybe with a couple extra details? Jason is by far the most believable source on all of this, so it might make sense to highlight what he said for those who haven't been following along.

It's very common. It doesn't mean the first game is wrapped though. Just means that whatever they needed him for is finished. The likely scenario is that he was there for the preliminary stuff to get the rest of the team going so they can take care of the rest on their own.

It's ultimately too hard to distinguish between 100% internal and external projects at a company like this based on job postings, unfortunately.

Nirolak Do you think it would be wise to just squash this thread and create an entire, new DC games speculation thread? It seems WB Montreal always gets brought up, and it would be cool to get all the DC games in one spot.

Oh I wasn't gonna talk about the Game Awards at all. I don't think we'll get any DC games there. It was just something for future reference about specifically the current states of Rocksteady/WB Montreal and their development on the DC games.

But, if you think that works then I'm cool with it.

It's up to you. I wasn't sure what approach you were going for. I'm just conscious that thread has a bit of info regarding WB Montreal and Rocksteady.

I'll think about it. It's pretty detailed, but I think I might have some more info to put in there. Idk lol If I do it I'll tag you. I'm just worried this thread has gotten a little out of focus with the recent Superman stuff.

Infinite Crisis was an event in the mid 2000s that brought back the DC multiverse.
No clue about the 11
Issue 483 of Batman was a one and done story about a couple of bank robbers, hardly a notable or iconic issue

Figured this would work as a meaningful bump. An email from an employee at WB recently leaked:

This is from 4chan, might be fake but we know that Warner Bros is making a multiplayer DC game and a Batman title

1555431887306.png

1555431921919.png

Jason "not spoiling"

In short, it alludes to Rocksteady's next game being a GaaS, multiplayer loot shooter. Things we already knew. Some interesting tidbits in here might point to what the game actually is, though.

It mentions multiple cities/areas (Gotham is the start, Star City is first installment in waves of DLC) and raids that will be accompanied within each city. (Ra's al Ghul is a pre-order bonus). Each city will have hub areas and a hero assigned to them (Green Arrow is in Star City). There will be online multiplayer, combat, and loot alongside customizable options (pre-order bonuses can get you iconic superhero costumes).

All of this information compiled within the document can pretty much guarantee that Rocksteady's next game is some sort of "create your own DC superhero and fight alongside your friends" kind of game where the regular DC heroes are like mentors and send you out on missions a la DC Universe Online. Each city will have a hero in a hub area that will then send you out on missions, and the game will constantly be updated with new cities and new heroes and gear.

If these leaks are true, then it really does sound like a cool game. My only hope is that it will play and feel somewhat like Arkham. I hope Rocksteady gives us a variety of powers/weapons to choose from and really flesh out the world of the DC Game Universe.

As for WB Montreal, they're probably working on keeping the mainline DC games going. They've teased a Batman: Court of Owls game for the past few months, and have another DC game in the pipeline. These will most likely be released every couple years as Rocksteady updates this massive DC game.

Considering Montreal did good with Arkham Origins I guess I'm more or less okay with this. As long as someone keeps the single player games coming.
