Any tips for the mission with
the cougar in the cave?? Animal keeps on killing me and it doesnt give me time to even aim at it let alone study.

I did it by standing close to where the other guy drops the lantern, so you have at least a light source. Keep tagging L3+R3 on so you can spot the cougar silhouette in slow mo and try your damnedest to get it before it pounces using dead eye or just reflexes.

Man fuck this game sometimes. Went to tie up a Le Moyne's Raider and leave him out in the open so I could get the 660 ft headshot on him for the marksmanship challenge. I rode out to a distance, got off my horse, went to pull out my rolling block rifle, and he randomly freed himself I guess, got up, and ran away. Do tied people ALWAYS randomly free themselves or is this just because I ran too far? Either way, annoyingggg.

Riding towards a side mission on the map, Albert Mason, in the Lagras region and something horrifying just happened.

Open world random event spoilers:
I notice that there's blood on the trees and... a body has been hung up! I stop to take a look, wondering if there's any clues as to how this happened. It didn't seem to be attached to the serial killer mission. And then, behind me, a group of powered men started walking slowly towards me. They're covered in blood. I start walking away, and they don't say anything. They just walk towards me. I start to run, they start to run. I panic and start shooting, and they all charge at me while I gun them down. They take way more bullets then you'd think they should, but I am panicking and not aiming properly.

Holy shit. That was tense.

Shot the body down, apparently they're called the Nite Folk and they've been stalking people.

I have not touched this game since last Thursday. The small moments I am home has me not playing, because I usually only have about 30-60 minutes. This is definitely not the game for small sessions. Goddamnit.

I can only assume you did the gold trick.

Why would anyone do the gold glitch on this game. It completely seems like it would ruin the whole experience? I mean obviously people can do what they want but why break cowboy simulator 2018? I'm like 80 hours into chapter 3 and money isn't an issue anyway.

On the contrary i found the game small sessions-friendly since most missions are 7 to 15 minutes affairs. :)
Much less if you exploit the dumb ai (run beyond the enemy line and shootgun your way back).

Seemed like as good an opportunity as any to do it while avoiding killing an innocent and boosting my bounty or hurting my honor. The hardest part of the challenge is that the game rarely gives you the opportunity to do it if you're trying to keep honor level high. The only time i ever see enemies that don't spawn right on top of me in the open world is when they're in camps, and when they're in camps, they're usually ringed by an foliage concealement that's nearly opaque, and it can be challenging to even find a spot to fire from that's that far and has LoS. The best I've done so far trying to do it that way is a 631 ft shot. Close but no banana.

Same, it's the money struggle that makes the experience fun, loot a house and find 50 dollars is a joy, but if I use the gold glitch it would be just waste of time.

This true, I glitched my first playthrough and it isn't as fun as my 2nd without it. I suggest that you don't do the glitch and you'll find everything to be much more rewarding

Am I the only one who thinks that the time of day progresses too fast? I am taking things really slow and realistic, I wish there was a settings to slow it down a bit.

"Oh look, a nice sunset... and whoops it's gone."

"Ah, it's dark and after 10, let's find a nice place to camp... oh well it's almost morning again."

Also, rainy/stormy weather doesn't last that long, I wish it would span over multiple days so when the sun comes out again it feels like a relief.

The money situation is so confusing. The game starts out amazingly tight, with money really hard to come by, so you have to really think about what you spend it on.. which is something open world games rarely ever get right.. then that one mission early on and you literally never need to even look your cash again. What's even more stupid is in the canon of the game a chapter 3 bank mission pulls off more money than almost every other job they pull in the game combined when every other Dutch mission is him talking about making money.

Yeah, I feel like it goes too fast. Start your day shopping for clothes, leave the store and it's already dark.

Amusingly, I somehow missed this mission. Was wondering what people were talking about when they were saying Ch. 2 gave them a windfall.

Slow the tod transition, slow the weather patterns down...would absolutely make it even more glorious...it is a little strange having really dark skies disappear in a matter of seconds. Slowing it down i think would make it look even better, and of course more natural.

And yes, the money situation i think R* have nailed! GTA money had little significance and you ended up swimming in it. In this, its a whole different ball game! Selling carriages for $25/$40....Finding wads of cash, selling trinkets etc etc...i have $260 at the mo and feel as flush as fuck! Mind, i do have a $300 bounty i need to clear!

Another weird thing I've noticed is particularly at dawn how sometimes the lighting abruptly changes. There is no gradual change, the sun just pops out. It has happened a couple of times now.

Yeah, it's jarring, kinda reminds me of Horizon Zero Dawn.

There was this heavy rain in Saint Denis and when I'm taking pictures and walking for a few steps, the rain just stops abruptly.

Because I usually spend the first few hours to hoard money. Doing it saves my time by a lot.

Also it doesnt break the game, not even close. You still need to hunt, or get achievements to get some sets or items for the camp. You can't really buff weapons to the point where it makes the game easy, plus most weapons are locked until you progress more into the game. Not to mention horses. Items are generally really cheap even.

But getting money to spend on clothes? Fuck yes. Nothing game breaking at all.

Haha I like your logic I never thought that cowboy simulator could also be fashion simulator. I have thousands now anyway so I need to go buy some outfits.

Yeah, that's about it.

Also you dont need money to break the game. Just hunt the legendary animals and create the trinkets to make a lot of things easier. Stuff like adding 5 seconds to Dead Eye, easier to get pelts and even a trinket so carcasses dont rot on your horse.

Accidentally rode my horse Reginald into a tree by one of those random camps you find, he falls over and lands right in the fire. Cue one inferno thrashing squealing horse which set the rest of the camp on fire. He survived though, thanks to a horse tonic.

I just caught myself spending an hour looking for a perfect rat for part 2 of a questline that involves killing animals so small you almost never see much less kill them. All for an achievement. Then I reminded myself I would also need to do those next to impossible gambling ones for 100% anyway if I really did care about getting them all.

I think it's time I walk away from this game sadly.

I thankfully stopped giving a shit about trophies and 100%'ing games a long time ago.

Because I just want to see the story, not grind for upgrades.

I found the gambling challenges the easiest, finished them all up long before the other challenge sets

Yea not going to take advantage of any glitch to gain more in the game. Struggling for money makes it all the more fun.

Vest and sleeve up shirt look continues to be the best.

Not the worst view I've come across.

I recall the previews making a big deal of being able to go so high you can go above the cloud line and look down on the clouds from above... was that bullshit or has anyone found a spot you can do this yet?

Even tough you are up quite high you are way below the clouds in this shot...

Robbed a few trains tonight and did a mission with Micah in chapter 3 and now I appear to be just swimming in cash. Got around to customizing my guns and, after buying some of the stuff I'd initially written off as pointless, I can say that it feels real good changing your guns' aesthetics and making them look unique amongst all the other firearms in the game. It just makes them feel way more... personal. Like these are MY guns, not just ones I stole from someone...
